Day Three.

For three days, other than the kidnappers occasionally giving her a few sips of water to keep her alive, she hadn’t eaten anything at all.

She was now extrely hungry, and sowhat faint due to thirst, barely holding on by sheer willpower. The splinter in her hand was sothing she’d casually pulled off while previously tied to a chair, and now the stone she was using had rounded edges, making it very difficult to cut through the ropes. Moreover, as she rubbed it against the ropes, she also abraded her palms. Her hands were full of wounds, her fingers had been chafed to the point of bleeding and scabbing over long ago, but at the ti she had no other choice.

At this mont she knew very clearly, that no matter what, she must stay conscious—she cannot die here!

By the third night.

Dusk had fallen, and by now Lu Weixi had been tied up for 70 hours. At first, maybe because of panic and fear, the child in her belly felt restless, with noticeable fetal movents. But now, perhaps because she herself was weakening, she started feeling the baby’s movents grow weaker and weaker. She began to fear; even if the kidnappers didn’t kill her, if this continued for another day or two, she would die!

But it had been three days, three whole days; could it be that Hanhai hadn’t sorted things out yet? Or did Qin Zhiyou not understand the coded ssage she had conveyed, and got the address wrong?

Even if she remained calm, she couldn’t help feeling a bit unbalanced now. If she wasn’t mistaken, she probably ended up in this predicant because of Qin Zhiyou. If she were to die, how would Qin Zhiyou fare? Maybe he would be sad for a few days, then just like before, continue to play around, find a woman of matching social status to marry and have children with, and start a new life.

And what about her? Her body might be discarded like putrid mud, then decay, along with the child in her stomach. In reality, she wasn’t indifferent to her own death, but what worried her most was firstly the child in her womb, and secondly her mother! Having been missing for three days, she had no idea if her mother knew what had happened to her. Her mother was so ill and couldn’t withstand any shocks; perhaps upon learning of the kidnapping, she couldn’t hold on. Even if she managed to barely pull through, with no relatives and no husband, how was she to live the rest of her days?

At this ti, she finally managed to cut through the ropes. Her hands were free; her first instinct was not to tear off the blindfold over her eyes, but to shove her scar-covered hands into her mouth. She knew she was drinking her own blood, licking the dirt off the ground, but she was so hungry that panic set in, her eyelids twitched uncontrollably, her whole being on the brink of collapse.

Just as she was freeing herself, the sound of a cellphone ringtone ca from outside the house, followed by the sound of soone taking the call, with the sound of leather shoes growing closer. Lu Weixi imdiately lay back down, pretending to still be bound, but clutched that stone in her palm—should any danger arise, she wouldn’t be completely helpless to resist.

Soon, the door to the cabin was opened; one of the kidnappers was on the call. Although the phone wasn’t on speaker, the place was so quiet that she could clearly hear the voice on the phone—it was Qin Zhiyou’s!

"I’ve got the money ready. I ca by myself, the police did not follow . Where are you? I want my wife and child to be safe and sound!"

For so reason, hearing Qin Zhiyou’s voice at that mont made the tears fall from Lu Weixi’s eyes.
