"Is Xixi with you?"
Qin Zhiyou pinched his temples, while beside him, Secretary Wang was still bringing him coffee. Having not slept for a day and a night, his entire train of thought was as chaotic as a mass of dark clouds: "No, I’m at the company."
"Xixi didn’t co ho last night."
This sentence from Lu’s mother startled him so much that he jumped up from his chair. Secretary Wang was bringing the coffee right in front of him, and he stood up so abruptly that he knocked over the coffee cup. Black coffee mixed with white milk foam stained half of his shirt, but he was completely unaware.
Secretary Wang was taken aback, and before he could clean up, he heard Qin Zhiyou’s voice becoming more and more suppressed, yet louder and more clear: "How is that possible? Didn’t she go ho early last night?"
"She told last night that she was going to see Feifei and said that she would be back very late, asking to go to sleep early. This morning when I got up, I didn’t see her around, so I thought she had gone out. But she still hasn’t co back, and when I opened the bedroom, her bedding was all neatly folded, as if she never ca back at all." Lu’s mother grew more and more anxious as she spoke, "I called her phone, and it’s turned off. I called you this morning, but you didn’t answer, so I thought she was with you."
Qin Zhiyou did not answer; he just felt a loud noise in his head, as if suddenly everything went dark. His hand holding the phone was trembling, and his lips were quivering; it took him a long ti to finally respond: "I’ll ask around."
He hung up first and imdiately called Lu Weixi, of course, the phone was turned off. He then urgently called the bodyguard and asked sternly, "What exactly happened last night?"
The bodyguard recounted the events and emphasized: "The young madam was indeed picked up by the Yu Family’s driver; she didn’t quite trust and refused to co back with ."
Qin Zhiyou had no ti to deal with him and called Yu Sixing right away.
Yu Sixing was also busy at the ti, but the calls from Qin Zhiyou were incessant, like urgent summonses, and he had no choice but to leave the scene to answer the phone. Yu Sixing looked puzzled: "Yes. What’s the matter?"
"Wei Hui, she never went back, she’s missing!"
After hanging up the phone, Secretary Wang watched as Qin Zhiyou, who had been standing, suddenly collapsed like a broken string, giving out instantly and falling to the ground without any strength.
Secretary Wang hurried over to help him. Qin Zhiyou suddenly rembered sothing: "Didn’t you just say you didn’t tell about the phone call?"
Secretary Wang said, "I was going to, but didn’t you ask not to say anything?"
Qin Zhiyou was furious to the extre, angry at Secretary Wang for not telling him about the call, which would have allowed him to know about Lu Weixi’s disappearance earlier. But he was even angrier at himself! Lu Weixi had never offended anyone, and even if there were feuds, they wouldn’t go this far—it’s all because of him!
