By her calculations, they had been separated for three months, and today barely aligned. Lu Weixi, however, gave him a glance and spoke indifferently, “This has nothing to do with you.”
Qin Zhiyou was no fool. Had Lu Weixi directly admitted it, he would not have been suspicious. It was this ambiguous response that fueled his doubts.
Suddenly, he grabbed Lu Weixi’s hand; she was startled and tried to shake it off, but found that Qin Zhiyou was gripping it too tightly to break free.
“Tell , is it your period?”
Lu Weixi kept her lips sealed, refusing to speak, and Qin Zhiyou’s eyes sharpened, “Not talking, huh? Let check for myself.”
He dragged her towards the washroom, checked the wastebasket, found no sanitary pads, nor any scent of blood: “It’s not your period. Then what’s with the nausea and the first instinct to protect your stomach in the car accident? Tell !”
“Why should I tell you!” Lu Weixi lowered her voice and forcefully shook off his hand, “We are already divorced, Mr. Qin. We have no other relationship. I only agreed to have dinner with you today because you asked to, out of old tis’ sake. You have no right to interfere in my life!”
But Qin Zhiyou’s expression turned frighteningly sharp, “I asked just one question, and yet you respond with so much. Clearly, you have sothing to hide!”
He grasped Lu Weixi’s arm directly, and although she struggled, “What are you doing, let go of !”
Qin Zhiyou spun around, his words piercing straight to her heart: “Do you want to shout it out here? Do you want grandfather and everyone to know what happened?”
Perhaps it was the gravity in Qin Zhiyou’s tone, or perhaps that sentence had burst the bubble on what she had hoped to conceal, but Lu Weixi, startled by his uproar, didn’t imdiately resist and allowed Qin Zhiyou to drag her upstairs.
Upstairs was their forr bedroom. Qin Zhiyou brought Lu Weixi into the room and then closed the door behind them. Lu Weixi still wore a displeased expression, “What exactly are you trying to do?”
“I should be asking you that,” Qin Zhiyou seed to suddenly find courage. He reached out, clasping Lu Weixi’s head in his hands, making her look him in the eyes, “Tell , are you carrying my child right now? Are you pregnant?”
Lu Weixi felt bewildered; she hadn’t anticipated that the first person to guess her pregnancy would be Qin Zhiyou. They had been apart for three months; in all that ti, they had virtually no communication and hadn’t spoken a single word—how could he suspect just from seeing her throw up a couple of tis?
“What are you talking about, I just have a stomach condition,” Lu Weixi tried to knock his hand away, but Qin Zhiyou wouldn’t let go, “Three months ago, the night before we parted, after you left, I found out we made a hole in the protection. By then you had already gone and blocked all my contact thods, so I couldn’t even notify you, let alone think it was so easy for you to get pregnant. I didn’t expect that perhaps that night we could conceive a child. Wei Hui, this is our child!”
