With the test finished, Brown called it a day and told them to go rest.
However, it was still too soon to rest, so Jin and Ice were sitting down beside a fire near their shelter and chatting.
"You were so great back then! Brown didn’t even realise that you were standing right beneath him.... just how were you able to do it?" Ice asked while praising Jin.
"Haha, I loved his reaction as well. I could see that he both loved and hated the fact that I bested him in his ga," Jin laughed and continued, "As for the thod I used, it’s quite complicated...you really wanna know?"
"Yes, if I could do sothing like that, then it would beco a lot easier for to infiltrate my targets," Ice said firmly.
Jin was well aware of her circumstances and knew that this skill would be quite helpful for her, so he told her.
"I call it erasing one’s presence. To do it, you need to first stop breathing completely and fully believe that you do not exist at all...it’s a very Difficult mind state to enter, therefore at most I can do it for twenty or so seconds,"
When Jin finished, Ice looked at him with an unbelievable expression, "...you’re kidding, right?"
"I know it’s hard to believe, but would you have believed if I had told you about Swift Steps before coming here? It’s the sa with this. It sounds impossible, but you saw doing it earlier, right?" Jin explained because he was expecting such a reaction.
Even he had found it difficult to believe at first.
"Yep...I wouldn’t have believed you. I’ll try learning it then since it’s sothing I must learn," Ice took out her amulet and gently gazed at the image of her family. "then it would be much easier for to track those n and get my revenge,"
She didn’t let the harshness of her words affect the gentleness and lovingness with which she was looking at her daughter’s and husband’s faces.
Seeing her like this, Jin, too, couldn’t help but think of Diana.
"Oh, sorry about that. It just sotis I can’t help myself," Realising that she had zoned out all of a sudden, Ice apologised to Jin.
"It’s alright. Seeing you like that made ruminate about my partner as well," Jin gestured with his hands that it wasn’t a big deal and smiled it off.
"Oh? You’re married as well?" Ice asked in surprise.
"Nope, we were about to get engaged, but we broke up," Jin answered.
"Ah...that’s sad," Ice replied in an understanding manner.
"Yep...it’s too late to nd things now," Jin added. Regret could clearly be felt in his words, which made Ice frown.
"Why? She’s alive, right?" she asked all of a sudden.
"Yes, she’s alive...it’s just I did so things which I shouldn’t have done," Jin said, not wanting to reveal everything at first.
"Then it’s never too late, is it? If she’s alive, you still have a chance to nd things with her," Ice said as if it was only natural.
This irked Jin a bit, and he couldn’t help but reveal his actions, "I cheated on her! Do you think it’s even possible to nd sothing like that? She would definitely hate to the core."
"Her hate is justified," Ice answered with a frown and asked, "However, if you cheated on her, why do you still like her?"
"I always did...at that ti, I was being manipulated by a gem. It’s called Devil’s Crystal by the locals here.
Under its manipulation, I beca a tool for the other person to exploit...by luck, I managed to get out of the manipulation, but by then it was too late. You won’t believe , so it’s alright," Jin explained with frustration in his voice.
"Tell , is that gemstone purplish in colour?" Ice’s question made Jin widen his eyes, and he answered imdiately, "Yes, have you heard about it?"
"So that’s what they are used for..." Ice muttered in understanding and continued, "I’ve seen them a lot in rich people’s hos when I was sneaking around in Kalium.
I had mistaken it for a normal gem at that ti, but now it makes a lot more sense."
"In Kalium?" Jin asked with a frown.
"Indeed, at so households there were even a drawer full of them," Ice answered.
Hearing her, his frown deepend as various thoughts crossed his mind.
"Anyway, that’s not what we were discussing," Ice got back on the topic.
"Since it’s the gem’s doing, I can understand how difficult it would be for you, but I suggest you talk to her."
"Would she even believe ?" Jin asked with a sigh.
"Acting on it is much better than wondering your whole life about it, right?
My husband’s no longer in this world, but if sothing similar had happened to him, I would have definitely given him a chance."
With that said, Ice got up and stretched her stiff back.
Her words had affected Jin, who was now just staring at the flas in thought.
"Don’t think about it so much. Just do it, she might still hate you and not accept you, but what if she says yes?" Ice said with a smile that radiated hope.
’What if she says yes...’ Jin repeated Ice’s words in his mind.
An image of a happy future together with Diana appeared in his mind, and the next mont, a strong desire to et Diana again grew in his heart.
Seeing Jin’s expression, which no longer seed lost, Ice sighed in relief and said, "I’ll be going then, good night."
"Thank you!" Jin sincerely thanked her.
Ice widely grinned at his words and said, "There’s no need for thanks among teammates. The Crazy Four got each other’s backs,"
Jin chuckled at those words, and she too giggled along with him before waving her hand and walking towards her shelter.
At that mont, he also received a ssage from the system.
