Chapter 946: Chapter 946: Unable to Log Out!
The bridge to the Deep World has already collapsed. Standing at the bridgehead, Gao Xing fell into the void between the two worlds. He was abandoned by the Deep World and detested by the reality world. No place was willing to accept him, not even his Residual Soul.
The owner of the Skyscraper, the founder of the three major cri syndicates in Xinhu, turned Unspeakable cris into a Shrine. Gao Xing took evil to the extre. However, strangely, on his final day, he did not choose to concentrate all his might to attack Han Fei, but instead wanted to transform into a bridge to the Deep World.
The Ghost Creature dissipated, the Black Dream shattered, exposing Gao Xing’s twisted and filthy Soul in between the two worlds. His body was covered with hideous and frightening scars.
When compared to the Butterfly Pattern on Shen Luo’s skin at that mont, one would find that Gao Xing’s Soul should have been full of Butterfly Patterns in the past, leaving imprints of Dreams. But Gao Xing, utilizing various thods, carved away all the Butterfly Patterns, leaving dense scars.
The trauma of childhood left Gao Xing fearing domination. As a Monster who even disregarded destiny, how could he willingly submit to the Will of Dreams?
When Gao Xing had the Ability and hope to resist Dreams, he would not openly defy Dreams, but instead quietly wait for the opportunity; yet after the Shrine was destroyed, everything changed. The rules of the Deep World were extrely brutal, and not even the Unspeakable could afford to show any weakness.
The Shrine was the foundation of Unspeakable. When the Three Souls shattered, Gao Xing understood his fate.
In fact, everything was exactly as Gao Xing predicted. The Dream altered its plan, and Gao Xing was to beco a sacrificial piece to attract the attention of Han Fei and the police, sharing the burden of the Dream.
True and false, false and true, but there was one thing Gao Xing was certain about. Rather than perishing with Han Fei, who brought along his mother, Gao Xing preferred to let his created “Perfect Work” destroy the Dream.
He was an extrely selfish and evil person. Whether this world’s future was good or bad, if this world no longer includes , then I will destroy you all.
Gao Xing tried to convince himself with this reason, but was it truly so? Humans are imnsely complex creatures, and even he did not quite understand why he changed his mind at the last mont.
The rotting ugly Soul, taking all the evil, dissipated. Han Fei watched Gao Xing from afar, realizing the other’s Soul had already been gutted clean, leaving only gray Dream Dust.
mbers of the three major cri syndicates, masked, fled in panic. Han Fei did not chase them: “Gao Xing shattered right before my eyes, but… the knocking in my Brain Sea hasn’t vanished!”
Han Fei looked around; a blood-soaked Shen Luo sought help from Han Fei, but Han Fei walked past him without stopping.
“Both the Skyscraper and Paradise’s passages are guarded. Where’s the problem? Could Dream have more passages?”
“Save…”
“Brother Huang Ying, the Ghost Creature has vanished. Contact the Xinhu Police imdiately, and bring Assistant Tao along!” Han Fei foresaw the worst day, but after the Shrine was destroyed, even the enemies knew the future was foreseen by Han Fei, and they would not foolishly follow the original plan.
“Brother, save, just save…”
“The police are already on their way! Communication inside the Eternal Life Building is restored.” Assistant Tao and an employee rushed over: “Quite a number have died in the building this ti, nearly a fifth of the researchers were hunted by androids, causing big trouble for Eternal Life Pharmaceutical.”
“I—I’m still alive, I…” Shen Luo, chains all over him, clothes soaked in blood, struggled to lift his hand.
“Gao Xing was likely discarded! Dream might have realized Fu Sheng gave that thing to ! What exactly is its true plan?” Han Fei furrowed his brows; Dream Managent was not human, erging from the Deep World, such an entity had no shred of humanity or flaw, terrifyingly so.
“Save… Ah! You’re stepping on my hand…”
Hearing the cry, Assistant Tao noticed Shen Luo on the ground, initially thinking it was a corpse: “Sorry.”
Assistant Tao hurriedly helped Shen Luo up, while Han Fei took five steps back, then continued speaking: “Don’t get too close to him, find so staff to send the wounded to the hospital, we’ll stay and wait for the police.”
Han Fei initially did not intend to have any contact with Shen Luo, but he vaguely heard a familiar laugh coming from Shen Luo.
“Let see your wound.” Han Fei gently pressed Shen Luo’s back skull, and a hysterical laugh resounded in his ear, soon appearing in his Brain Sea.
That laugh commonly feared sounded familiar to Han Fei, and when it re-erged in his Brain Sea, a long-missed sense of security arose within him.
So questions Han Fei once found incomprehensible gradually beca clearer.
Number Two once said in the Shrine that Kuangxiao separated part of his Will, and now it seed he had been eyeing Shen Luo in Paradise Shrine, guiding the residual consciousness of Dream into Shen Luo’s Brain Sea, making Shen Luo the successor of Dream.
“No wonder those deranged murderers like you so much, I told you, there is no love without reason in this world.” Seeing Shen Luo’s miserable state, Han Fei wanted to comfort him with a few words, but the laugh in his mind seed to guide him to do sothing.
Walking towards the thirteen preserved boxes, the laugh in his Brain Sea instructed Han Fei to touch them one by one.
Opening the boxes, Han Fei lifted each cultivated despair of the Dream, and an invisible Power surged from the Black Box at the back of his head.
The despair within the boxes was taken by Han Fei, Jin Sheng, Little Eight… each despairing na imprinted in his Brain Sea, each despairing life absorbed by the Black Box.
When Han Fei opened the box containing Number Two’s Brain, the Black Box at the back of his head changed, with both salvation and destruction opening simultaneously.
Inside the Black Box was still a black box, seemingly unchanged, but it felt like the world Han Fei saw had subtly changed. He could more intuitively sense each person’s emotions, and his spirit and Will qualitatively improved the mont the Black Box opened.
Both hands reached into the box holding Number Two’s Brain, taking out the special container within.
Number Two’s Brain was still “alive,” maintained in operation through this special thod.
“Only the two of us are left on the Blood-colored Night.”
The sound of Kuangxiao’s laughter guided Han Fei into the Black Dream, to the center of the Black Box, modeled after the Black Box itself. He placed No. 2’s brain in this vast black room where Gao Xing initially stood.
The bridge to the Deep World had already collapsed, and the illusory dreamscape retracted inward, until all anomalies vanished into No. 2’s brain, as if everything that just happened was rely No. 2’s imagination.
Despite both being Unspeakable, No. 2 had always been enduring. His ghost creature had never spread in reality, and no one knew how special this brain was.
“Alright, now we just have to wait for the police and the people from Eternal Life Pharmaceutical to arrive.”
The power of the Unspeakable in reality far exceeded Han Fei’s imagination. The entire Eternal Life Building was shrouded, and everyone was under its control. Now, even if the ghost creature dissipated, eighty percent of them still couldn’t completely shake off its influence, with so experiencing permanent personality changes.
After a full twenty minutes, the staff inside the Eternal Life Building gradually freed themselves from the effects of the ghost creature, and together with the police, they took the elevator to the eighteenth underground floor.
The sight of the bloodshed and corpses all over the ground shocked many people. The rescue team carried the injured away, while the rest approached Han Fei.
Whether it was the police or the senior executives of Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, everyone’s faces looked terrible, which only added to Han Fei’s unease.
“Han Fei, what are you doing here?” The police team leader recognized Han Fei.
“A major shareholder of Eternal Life Pharmaceutical commissioned to co.” Han Fei produced the identification Du Jing had given him and briefly recounted the events to the police.
Upon hearing that the conspiracy of the three major cri syndicates had been thwarted, the police leader’s brows eased slightly, but his expression remained serious.
“What happened outside? Are you going to start investigating Eternal Life Pharmaceutical next?” Han Fei asked quietly after getting closer to the police.
“For the mont, we’re probably not going to investigate Eternal Life Pharmaceutical and Deep Space Technology,” the police leader said, hesitating for a mont before continuing: “Right now, we need the full cooperation of these two tech giants. Investigation and prosecution will likely have to wait a while.”
“Why?” Han Fei was a bit confused; the things Eternal Life Pharmaceutical had done behind the scenes were extrely vile. The company’s internal affairs needed a thorough cleanup.
“Just today, at midnight on Thursday, all players in the main city district of ‘Perfect Life’ couldn’t log out of the ga.” The police leader spoke slowly, each word hitting Han Fei hard.
“Can’t log out?!”
“Yes, the ‘Perfect Life’ ga has now completely shut down, and Deep Space Technology tried to use hidden system doors to disconnect all players. But even so, those players in the main city district still can’t log out,” the police leader said, taking out the police’s internal communication device: “So players’ relatives tried to forcibly drag players out of their ga boxes, disconnecting them, but once these players left the ga, they all fell into a coma, their self-awareness lost, and half an hour ago a player even suffered brain death.”
“Roughly how many people can’t log out now?”
“‘Perfect Life’ is a casual healing ga. Many people work busily during the day and like to lie in their ga boxes at night, relaxing their spirits in Paradise. So, midnight is the peak ti for online players, and about four million were in the main city district at that ti.”
Hearing this number, Han Fei took a deep breath. People who could afford ga boxes were at least relatively affluent middle class, most holding key positions. If they were all trapped inside ‘Perfect Life,’ it would cause a trendous impact and widespread panic.
More terrifyingly, Han Fei believed all of this was the Dream’s doing. It wouldn’t simply trap players but was likely intending to dominate and remake them, altering their personalities and spirits, just like it did with Gao Xing and Butterfly.
Once the transformation was complete, these over four million players would beco breeding grounds for the Dream’s wickedness!
If the players could normally log out by then, the vast majority might no longer be themselves. So might even be possessed by ghosts and monsters from the Deep World.
“How did it manage this?” Han Fei, knowing more than anyone the horror of this matter, found his palms already sweaty.
“The specifics are still under investigation. Initial judgnt links it to a manager at Eternal Life Pharmaceutical nad Fu Yun. He activated all the system doors mastered by Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, and he’s also the one who found the loophole in ‘Perfect Life,'” the police leader said, checking a screen on his communication device: “The person you told the director to pay attention to—Fu Yun. He left Eternal Life Pharmaceutical a long ti ago. According to our investigation, he initially joined the Sunday Night School, later betraying the three major cri syndicates, and seems to have disappeared without a trace.”
“Betrayed the three major cri syndicates?” Han Fei knew the Little Ghost under Gao Xing was none other than Fu Yun, a child cultivated by Fu Tian. It seed he first betrayed Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, then Gao Xing, and now appeared to be working for the Dream.
“He’s an extrely dangerous person, the only one specifically warned against in the will of the deceased chairman of Eternal Life Pharmaceutical. The late chairman’s biological children were considered exceptional, but compared to Fu Yun, they fell short,” the police leader said bluntly: “The situation now is that the higher-ups have issued a deadlock order; we must rescue all trapped players within 48 hours, so we now have no choice but to fully cooperate with Eternal Life Pharmaceutical and Deep Space Technology, letting them make ands.”
The attack from the three major cri syndicates on the core Smart Brain of the Smart District hadn’t stopped, and the ga ‘Perfect Life’ faced a monuntal upheaval. The only solace was the unopened passage in the basent of the Eternal Life Building, preventing a disaster outbreak.
“Players trapped inside ‘Perfect Life’ can’t co out, and people outside can’t get in after the shutdown. The spiritual world and reality are severed; any unexpected incidents could lead to unimaginable consequences,” the police leader also expressed his deep worry.
Communication having been restored, Han Fei took out his phone to call friends like Jin Jun and Bai Xian, but no one answered.
“Deep Space Technology has found vulnerabilities in the Smart Brain of ‘Perfect Life;’ they should be able to send players in to check the situation eventually, but it’s likely that players who enter won’t be able to return,” the police leader stored away the communication device as he began to clean the scene.
Huang Ying, standing nearby, also heard the news and quietly approached: “Don’t worry; when Deep Space Technology is ready to send in players, I’ll sign up as the first player, trying to investigate the interior of the main city.”
“Don’t be impulsive,” Han Fei shook his head: “I have two channels at my disposal. The skyscraper’s rooftop passage connects to reality, and the Paradise Passage connects to the Shallow World of Perfect Life. If both passages open smoothly, I can send so players to escape.”
Huang Ying’s eyes widened; he hadn’t expected his friend to be so crucial: “You… you’re practically like a Living King Yama?”
“Are you complinting ?” Han Fei lowered his voice again: “I have a soul-summoning talent; I’ll summon Bai Xian and the others first, and decide what to do after clarifying the situation.”
“Hearing you say that, you seem even more like…”
