Chapter 706: Chapter 706 Little Eight is a Key

There was no ti to enjoy the joy of reunion, as Han Fei dragged his nearly disintegrated body up from the ground. When he had been dragged into the water by the “Lake God,” he could say that he was teetering on the edge of death.

In that situation, the Big Evil, bound by the rules of Fu Sheng’s Shrine within the body of Chou Cat, received an unprecedented stimulus. Coupled with the blood cocoon created by the dream sacrifice of countless souls, various powers combined to finally allow Big Evil to break free.

This hideous monster had found a sliver of the “dream’s” origin within Fu Sheng’s Shrine, it beca more powerful and terrifying, and the aura of ominousness and Death Intent emanating from it grew ever denser.

“You, you are its pet?” The lifeguard clutched Han Fei’s clothes, crouching behind Han Fei, he didn’t even dare to open his eyes to look at Big Evil.

“It is a pet I raise,” Han Fei said with a long sigh of relief upon seeing Big Evil appear. Once again, they had an additional powerful ally. In many instances, Big Evil’s role was not lesser than Hatred, “The Lake God has been eaten by it, from now on it will be the guardian deity that protects all citizens. Although it looks a bit ugly, its nature is not bad, it is our friend.”

“Friend?” The lifeguard forced himself to look towards Big Evil, the terrifying monster of the kind lay next to Han Fei, letting Han Fei stroke its skull. Its spikes, however, pricked Han Fei’s hand until it was bloody and ragged, but neither the person nor the pet cared, as if this was their way of interacting.

“Han Fei, your hand is bleeding.”

“It’s fine, I’m just building up my resistance to Soul Poison. Haven’t you noticed, after those black water spiders bit , they all died from the poison?” Han Fei patted Big Evil’s head lightly, at that mont he was full of confidence, “Do you want to try?”

“No, forget it, I’d rather not try,” the lifeguard shook his head repeatedly, now a little afraid of Han Fei as well.

“It’s actually pretty gentle, you all can communicate more. Its na is Big Evil.” Seated on Big Evil’s back, Han Fei returned to the vicinity of the stone house.

The lifeguard looked at Han Fei and Big Evil, his face in shock, muttering the na over and over: “Now we are saved, Big Dad has arrived.”

Big Evil carrying Han Fei arrived in front of Guan Miao, the ugly old man was so frightened that he kneeled before Big Evil, continuously shouting in local dialect as if he were praying and begging for divine forgiveness.

“That Lake God was nothing more than a monster that had lived a long ti. Because of your prayers and belief, it beca a ‘Lake God,’ enjoying the sacrificial offerings you brought, stirring up trouble and eating your villagers,” Han Fei said, grabbing Guan Miao by his collar, looking at the fish scale patterns on his body. After Big Evil ate the Blood Cocoon, the abnormalities on Guan Miao’s body began to slowly revert, but the life and energy that had been sucked from him could no longer be reclaid; he now looked even older.

“The young people from the resort were turned into blood cocoons, their residual souls beca water ghosts, they can’t co back anymore. If you really want to change, from now on, give your sincerest belief to Big Evil; it is much more reliable than the Lake God.”

Big Evil was the embodint of disaster; its arrival always heralded a great calamity. Its path was too extre; if it could be worshipped and revered by the living, perhaps it could lighten so of the karmic obstacles on it, leaving a thread of life.

After inspecting the stone house, Han Fei made another round on Lake Heart Island to make sure nothing was overlooked, then he led the people away.

The destruction of the dream’s fourth ritual delayed them too long, he must hurry back to Happiness Residential Community to prevent any accidents from occurring there.

The four of them boarded a small boat, with Big Evil subrging into the water and pushing the vessel forward from beneath.

The light within the lantern flickered unsteadily, and all the hidden water ghosts at the bottom of the lake behaved themselves; Big Evil seed to have beco their new master.

There’s an ancient saying about becoming the tiger’s accomplice; here, Big Evil was the tiger, and those dead souls beneath the water were its servant ghosts.

Back at the boat rental center, Han Fei hadn’t even docked when the villagers eagerly gathered around. They had all sensed the changes in their bodies and believed that Han Fei had successfully completed the ritual.

Guan Miao was very cooperative with Han Fei; he didn’t tell the other villagers what happened in the stone house. Instead, he described Big Evil as the Lake God that sheltered them.

Ripples spread across the water’s surface, and as Big Evil crawled ashore, the villagers were so scared that they imdiately prostrated on the ground, continuously bowing in worship.

Big Evil, enjoying the worship of everyone, only felt bored. Its violent nature and the Death Intent emanating from it made even the night wind carry a scent of blood.

“It’s getting late, ti to head back to Happiness Residential Community,” said Han Fei after he gave Guan Miao so instructions and then prepared to leave.

The four of them took a taxi, while Big Evil ran wildly behind the car. With its extrely fast speed and its ability to turn into shadows, there was no need to worry about being unable to keep up.

“Han Fei, what’s the story with your pet? Why can it devour the ‘Dream’s’ power?” Yan Le’s mother couldn’t understand how the ritual she prepared for herself ended up benefiting the monster.

“I’m not clear about it myself,” replied Han Fei, not planning to disclose Big Evil’s origins, and casually brushed it off.

“It has occupied the Blood Cocoon, eaten the Lake God, and stolen the escape route prepared by ‘Dream’ for itself. Now, it can control the countless Dead Souls and Water Ghosts deposited in the lake. This is very critical for us,” said Yan Le’s mother, pointing toward the dark city. “The city’s underground water network is connected to the lakes. You can have it drive those Water Ghosts into the city’s sewers, to serve as our eyes, and they could also be of help to us at critical monts.”

“Using the city’s sewer system? That makes a lot of sense,” Han Fei nodded, giving the idea so serious thought.

“The main thing is that your pet looks too horrifying. Those citizens will probably be scared to death if they see it, so it’s better to keep it hidden in the dark.” Not to ntion others, even Yan Le’s mother felt a palpitation upon seeing Big Evil. Given Yan Le’s fragile constitution, a re scrape from Big Evil could lead to an invasion by Soul Poison, making life worse than death.

Before the stroke of Midnight, the black taxi entered Happiness Residential Community, and unlike the night sky outside, the sky within Happiness Residential Community was blood red.

The overlap between this area and the Deep World kept deepening, completely becoming the intersection of the two worlds at every Midnight.

The refugees from the city gathered inside the first, second, and third apartnt buildings. Terrified by the anomalies outside, they all hid in their rooms, not daring to wander.

“You’ve finally co back!” Achong, who was guarding the entrance to the corridor, saw Han Fei returning safely and finally let out a sigh of relief. “The sky has turned red, and those cleaned-up apartnt buildings have started to exhibit all kinds of strangeness. Now it all depends on Little You’s mother to hold on.”

“Don’t worry, I will turn this place into a safe zone,” Han Fei called out to Big Evil, who erged from the blood colored passage between building one and ten. Its massive body, over five ters tall, combined with the blood-red night, imposed an indescribable sense of oppression on the people.

“Tell everyone to stay indoors; I will take watch tonight.”

Sitting on Big Evil’s shoulder, Han Fei took out a script from his backpack and started flipping through the remaining Kaidan stories.

With Big Evil awakened, he truly had the power to resist, and many things could now be tackled without hesitation.

Achong looked up at Han Fei, who was reading the script, feeling the Death Intent coming from Big Evil, his lips trembling slightly. “As long as the aura is horrific enough, even reading a book feels like plotting serial murders. Is this the power of a top-tier horror film actor?”

The chi of Midnight rang out, and Happiness Residential Community completely overlapped with the Deep World. A sense of despair rose from underground, soaking into the walls, as if countless invisible hands were slowly squeezing everyone’s throat.

The civilians who fled in panic trembled uncontrollably, not knowing who would be the next target—all their hopes rested on Han Fei.

In monts of extre fear, a glance out the window would soothe them—the figure perched upon the monster’s shoulder had beco their Stabilizer.

“Co on, let’s see what lies hidden beneath Happiness Residential Community. What depths of despair are buried within this complex built for orphans?”

The first ti Han Fei entered Happiness Residential Community, he beat a hasty retreat; the second ti, he found a feeling of ho; on this third return, he had beco the master of the place, ready to purge all the filth that clung to it.

As ti ticked away, a scream pierced the air, and Happiness Residential Community revealed its other face.

The buildings, cloaked in blood, bore the crayon drawings of children frolicking and playing gas—each with radiant smiles, but horrifyingly, in every ga, one child would be killed.

On this road paved with death, the children’s personalities were stifled and extinguished, leaving only thirty-one kids in the end.

Cries and laughter were incessant, and Han Fei couldn’t tell where they emanated from. The adults hiding in the apartnts began exhibiting all sorts of strange behavior—so wished for death, so saw their lost family mbers, but most were overwheld by fear, compelled to participate in that desolate ga.

Throughout the entire transformation of Happiness Residential Community, Han Fei had been silently observing, following the gaze of Big Evil. After sweeping past several buildings, Big Evil finally fixed its attention on Building No. 11.

“The origin of despair lies beneath that building!”

Big Evil slamd into Building No. 11. Its massive body crashed into the base of the apartnt, causing the concrete road to crack and all the glass windows on the first floor to shatter.

Under Han Fei’s direction, the enraged Big Evil launched a reckless attack on Building No. 11. It was Han Fei’s first ti witnessing Big Evil unleash its full strength.

As the embodint of disaster and misfortune, Big Evil was enveloped in ominous auras, and its body could swell even larger if needed!

Limb-like appendages slamd into the ground, its skin adhering to the earth. Death Intent flowed through the fissures and penetrated the ground below. The creature was like a king of poisons—nothing could harm it, and anything coming into contact with it, whether alive or dead, human or Ghost and Monster, would be devoured in turn.

Under the scourge of Death Intent, strange rustling sounds ca from beneath Building No. 11, and not long after, a Monster ford entirely of despair appeared.

Han Fei had seen this being before—its body resembled a centipede, with a chain of human heads, each face brimming with utter despair.

Others feared this Monster, as capture ant becoming a mindless husk, eventually adding their own head to the Monster’s spine, assimilated as part of the Monster.

But Big Evil had no such concerns; before the Monster could react, it grabbed hold of it and stuffed it into its mouth!

Big Evil’s thod of determining if sothing unknown was poisonous was brutally straightforward—take a bite and taste it. Anything that couldn’t kill it would only make it stronger.

Wielding the Rebirth Saber, Han Fei leapt aside, pulling on the Red Rope and focusing on the crevice in front of Building No. 11.

“You had quite the fun chasing before, didn’t you?”

Compared to Big Evil’s savagery, Han Fei aid for efficiency, striking directly at the adversary’s weak points, striving to kill with the greatest speed.

The civilians in the other buildings leaned out of their windows to watch—the stronger Han Fei beca, the brighter the fla of hope burned in their hearts.

“Should we go help him?”

“Better not to make things worse.”

“Including this ti, he’s saved twice. Can such a person really be a fugitive?”

“He must have been frad.”

The survivors inside the building grew increasingly fond of Han Fei, eventually taking his side.

Despair seeped out constantly from the cracks in the ground, and those Monsters birthed from negative emotions surged out. Ninety percent were blocked by Big Evil, while Han Fei, with the Rebirth Saber in hand, stayed behind Big Evil, ready to strike the killing blow at the opportune mont.

With Big Evil’s cooperation, Han Fei felt a sense of ease unlike any before, and he mused from the heart, “Who knew we could be so fierce together?”

The slaughter lasted until the late hours of the night when the last strand of despair dispersed, the area in front of Building No. 11 was completely demolished, the ground had sunk nearly half a ter, and cracks webbed out like a spider’s net.

Big Evil was wounded all over, but it didn’t care—it had an exhilarating buzz, almost as if it hadn’t had enough.

“Let’s go down and take a look.” Han Fei and Big Evil broke through the pavent, and they descended beneath Building No. 11 together.

The soil beneath Happiness Residential Community was saturated with negative emotions, these strands of despair sticky and dense, interweaving like blood vessels, linking all the apartnt buildings of the community.

Following the threads of despair, Han Fei located the source of all the misery.

In the underground center of the entire community, there stood an unfinished Shrine.

Lifting the black cloth covering the Shrine, there wasn’t a God Statue inside, but simply a key.

The key seed to be fashioned from human bones, assembled from eight pieces—all the despair and misfortune of Happiness Residential Community had accumulated onto this key.

“Is the whole point of Happiness Residential Community’s existence to create this key?”

Han Fei rembered so things from when he first entered the ga: “I recall soone ntioning that Little Eight is a key that can open the Exit, and at the ti, I wondered, how can a person be a key?”
