656: Chapter 656: Eight-ard Yama 656: Chapter 656: Eight-ard Yama Li Guo’er stared blankly at Han Fei before her, almost like he was a completely different person from when they first t.

In just two days, this man who had lost his mory had not only adapted to the darkness, but had beco a beast in this steel and concrete jungle.

He exuded the aura of a hunter, yet his eyes were always filled with pity and sorrow, as if he was the only living person in this city of death.

“I know your na is Han Fei, you are yourself,” Li Guo’er saw a familiar figure on Han Fei, but she quickly shook her head to dispel this unrealistic idea.

Every person is an individual, Li Guo’er wouldn’t say things that might influence Han Fei.

“How many points did you gain after we joined forces to kill the little boy?” Han Fei stopped looking at his own reflection in the car window and put his mask back on.

“I gained six points, now I have twenty-three points.”

“When I saw the boy’s body co out of the classroom, the term ‘Grudge’ subconsciously popped into my mind.

Any ghost that can be called a ‘Grudge’ should be much more powerful than an ordinary ghost.

We gained one point in the taxi earlier, which ans normal ghosts may only be worth one point, while a Grudge can offer five or more points,” Han Fei thought of the Joker he had encountered in the Happiness Apartnt, “After the Joker’s childhood mories scattered, it gave you ten points; it might be a kind of ghost even more terrifying than a Grudge.”

“Let’s not aim too high, let’s start with those one-point Little Ghosts,” Li Guo’er kindly reminded him.

“If they are nurous and strong, they will definitely accumulate points faster than us.

If we want to get ahead of them, we can only take risks.

After all, the more terrifying the ghost’s power, the more points they provide.” Han Fei’s team now only consisted of three people, one of whom could only be considered support staff.

It was hard for such a team to compete against other players.

“Is there a special reward for the person who clears the ga first?” Li Guo’er looked at Han Fei, becoming more convinced that he should be the person who had first cleared the ga.

It was very likely that his mory loss was due to his completion of the ga.

“I don’t know, but my intuition tells that being the first to clear is very important.” Han Fei’s gaze, hidden beneath the mask, rested on Li Guo’er, “You can definitely do it.”

“You saying that puts a lot of pressure on .” Li Guo’er put away her knife and reached out to open the taxi’s front door, but the mont she touched the door handle, sothing eerie happened.

A face appeared on the transparent window, and Li Guo’er felt as if sothing bit her hand, a sensation akin to touching teeth.

She quickly withdrew her arm.

The taxi seed normal from the outside, but upon closer inspection, one could see that the interior was cramped with ten corpses, their torsos fused with the entire car, like fish that could swim along the car body.

After absorbing the boy’s body, the taxi, which had killed nine people, had beco a terrifying Curse Item, and the aura it emitted had reached the level of a Grudge.

“Why aren’t you getting in?” Han Fei walked to the side of the car and opened the door effortlessly, encountering no resistance, “Get in, let’s leave this place first.”

Han Fei didn’t want to stay too close to the bus.

If the people from Paradise knew sothing was wrong with the Spirit Car transporting souls, they would likely send soone over.

Once Han Fei got in the car, the chatting inside the taxi subsided a great deal, and neither Li Guo’er nor Little Jia was attacked anymore.

“Why do those ‘Ghosts’ like you so much?

It feels like they treat and you completely differently.” Li Guo’er started the car.

“It might have sothing to do with personal Charm; I seem to be a very charming person.”

After listening to Han Fei’s thought-out response, Little Jia touched his forehead, feeling that Han Fei was probably joking.

“Where to next?”

“Do you know of any particularly dangerous urban legends in this city?

We can compare them to the script and select so suitable ghosts,” Han Fei, having lost his mory, could only ask Li Guo’er.

“There are many Kaidans; the one most known and seemingly the most dangerous is the legend related to Yama,” Li Guo’er slowed down the car, “It’s also ntioned in your script that there’s a residential area in this city built on the border between the Mortal World and the Underworld.

During the day, it looks like a normal residential area, but at night, so people may accidentally wander into the Underworld neighborhood, where Yama is said to reside.”

Han Fei flipped through the script and took out the ninetieth story—Eight-ard Yama.

“I never believed in the existence of the Underworld until I t that Ghost.”

“She hides in that building nad Happiness, becoming the most terrifying form.”

“Yes, I have never seen such a terrifying Ghost.

Born with two faces and eight arms, she resembles Yama guarding the gates of death.

If you want to approach her, you have to be ntally prepared in advance.”

Just from the description in the script, it was clear that this Monster was no ordinary creature.

Han Fei felt it might be even more frightening than a Grudge.

“Living in a building nad after Happiness, is this Eight-ard Yama also in the Happiness Apartnt?

I rember the Joker seed to hint at , telling to search for my own Happiness, to see what kind of Monster my happiness had turned into.”

After entering the residential area enveloped by the red night sky, Han Fei stood in front of Building One for a long ti, feeling that sothing inside was calling to him.

“Eight-ard Yama…”

After thinking for a mont, Han Fei said to Li Guo’er, “Shall we make another trip to the Happiness Apartnt?”

“Are you insane?

We’ve barely escaped, why would you go back to such a dangerous place?” Li Guo’er didn’t understand Han Fei’s reasoning.

“Number Eleven is the Joker, and his happiness is hidden inside Building Eleven.

I have my own number as well, and my happiness might also be hidden there,” Han Fei spoke the truth.

“Did you and the Joker both co from the sa Orphanage?

Have you forgotten your past?” Li Guo’er was quite surprised.

“I only rember my number—Zero.”

“But there’s no building numbered zero in the community, right?” Little Jia felt Han Fei was sotis very reliable, yet other tis he seed incoherent.

“Indeed, there is no building number zero in a living residential community, but who’s to say there isn’t one in a community where the dead reside?” Han Fei was quite adamant.

“It’s too late today, we can first go and take a look, but we must absolutely not enter the community.

In the monts when the night is drawing to an end and dawn is about to break, it is when all ghosts and monsters are most…” Li Guo’er had just gotten to this point when a dark red light suddenly flashed across the pitch-black sky.

“Seems like it’s from Paradise over there, is soone setting off fireworks?”

The car slowed down, and as Han Fei stuck his head out the window to look outside, the sky above Paradise was lit up with countless blood-red fireworks.

Instead of evoking a splash of kaleidoscopic beauty, they resembled gigantic eyeballs exploding in the sky, scattering a shower of Blood Pearls.

“What’s going on?”

“Oh, this is what I was about to tell you.

The first half of the night of ghosts is about humans hunting ghosts, but when the night grows thickest and the ghosts and monsters are at their strongest, ‘Evil Ghosts’ beyond the control of Paradise appear.” Li Guo’er promptly turned the car around, “After those ‘Evil Ghosts’ show up, the nature of the ga changes.

It’s no longer about human catching ghost, but about ghosts killing humans.

We need to find a safe place to hide as soon as possible.”

“‘Evil Ghosts’ beyond the control of Paradise?”

“They do not stay in one place; they wander around, actively hunting the people they co upon, cruel and ferocious, epitomizing sheer evil, which is why so of the ga participants also refer to them as malevolent spirits.” Li Guo’er explained clearly, “You would do well to pray not to encounter malevolence, for everyone who has seen it has died, and all we’re left with are tales of strangeness about them.”

“Whether it’s a blessing or a disaster, if it’s a disaster it cannot be avoided.

It’s difficult for us to find a safe place right now, so we might as well take advantage of the high mobility of the vehicle, get a clear view of those things, because sooner or later we’ll have to face them head-on.” Han Fei had thought it through thoroughly; as long as they chose the path to clear the stage, so difficulties were unavoidable.

Following Han Fei’s suggestion, the taxi returned to the Happiness Apartnt again, right before almost four in the morning.

While still a good distance from the apartnt buildings, the Paperman on Han Fei’s chest began to bleed from the eyes.

He retrieved the paper, and instead of Han Fei, the bloody eyes of the Paperman showed its severely damaged torso.

“The Paperman has reacted; parts of its damaged corpse seem to be within the Happiness Apartnt.”

Stroking the eye, Han Fei’s heart thumped wildly; he didn’t know why he was so anxious, as if the Paperman represented sothing irreplaceable to him.

“Daybreak is almost upon us; going in now would be suicide.” Li Guo’er glanced at Han Fei through the rearview mirror.

The usually calm and steady Han Fei beca emotional when it ca to issues related to the Paperman, as if all his human feelings were vested in that small piece of paper, “Who would’ve thought a tough guy like you would also fancy paper dolls?”

Li Guo’er locked the car doors and reduced speed, slowly approaching the Happiness Apartnt buildings.

Returning to the passage between Building One and Building Ten, they saw scattered bits of Paper Money on the ground and in the distance, sounds of a suona and disordered footsteps.

“We can’t go any further.”

The three sat in the car, looking towards the narrow passage, feeling the oppressiveness of the building layout, reminiscent of a dried-up well in the mortal world.

The bloody moonlight cascaded down the facade of the building like a waterfall, and amidst that profound darkness and despair, two rows of page boys with bright makeup stood, while at the center of the passage, four Big Ghosts carried a blood-red palanquin.

“Marrying Ghosts?”

If one ignored the ghosts and monsters, the scene appeared as if a family was marrying off their daughter, an event of great significance.

The palanquin was slowly carried into Happiness Residential Community, and just as it was about to disappear completely into the darkness, the piercing sound of the suona ceased.

The heads of the page boys turned little by little, and the Big Ghosts carrying the palanquin also halted in their tracks.

The blood-red palanquin hovered above a carpet of Paper Money, its curtain slowly drawn back just a slit, revealing a swath of bloody ss inside, making it impossible to discern anything clearly.

“Is this so kind of ritual?” Little Jia asked Han Fei, but Han Fei’s eyes were fixed intently on Li Guo’er.

As the palanquin’s curtain was lifted, Li Guo’er seed to drift into a trance.

Her hands on the steering wheel slowly turned as she unconsciously began to accelerate, as if she intended to drive the taxi into that passage, following the big palanquin into Happiness Residential Community.

“Li Guo’er!” Han Fei’s shouts from the backseat were ineffective; not only were the doors locked, but he also had to find a way to communicate with the Dead Soul inside the car, finally managing to bring the taxi to a stop at the entrance of the community.

Seeing that Li Guo’er was reluctant to co in, the curtain of the big palanquin closed again, the bloody ss continuing to remain hidden within as the procession of Marrying Ghosts vanished into the other end of the passage.

“Snap out of it, Li Guo’er!” It was incredibly dangerous to be stopped at the entrance of the passage.

Han Fei shouted several tis in succession before Li Guo’er ca around.

Opening her eyes and seeing herself stopped at the entrance, fear appeared on her face: “How did I end up here?”

“Just now you looked like you’d lost your Soul, even ready to drive straight into the community.” Little Jia was also shaken cold with fear; tonight’s events were a bit too much for him to handle.

“It’s so strange!

When I looked inside the palanquin, I felt like I had beco a bride.

I know that the person I love most is already dead, but I was still prepared to marry him, to go to the place where he lives and stay with him forever!” Li Guo’er seed not yet fully recovered from the shock.

She was entirely affected by those emotions.

“The Ghost connected to the palanquin isn’t in my script; she’s not among the ninety-nine ghost stories either.

It seems that my script has only docunted most of the ghost stories, and many are still missing…” Han Fei, flipping through his script, suddenly stopped.

He indeed hadn’t found the Ghost related to the palanquin in those horror scripts, but he did find an unfinished script among the ninety-nine ghost stories that simply recorded emotions.

The script was short, incomplete, with vast blank spaces haphazardly interspersed among countless horror stories, easy to overlook if not examined carefully.

“I’ve been writing this hundredth story for a long ti, having tried ninety-nine tis without success.”

“The day I t her was the beginning of all stories, and the day I left her marked the end of all stories.

I loved her very much, but it seems we won’t be continuing together.”

“Ninety-nine tis of parting in life and death have taught one thing, she was always with , always by my side.

I will write the last story about her well; at least this ti I will arrange the best ending for her.”
