47: Chapter 47: Don’t Look Back 47: Chapter 47: Don’t Look Back “The door was covered with the character for ‘death,’ and blood seeped from beneath it.

Is this really the kind of neighbor you want to be friends with?”

ng Shi said that Xu Qin lived in room 1052 and although Xu Qin might seem crazy, she was actually not a bad person.

Initially, Han Fei had so expectations for Xu Qin, feeling that they could get along harmoniously, but after seeing that door covered in the word ‘death,’ he suddenly realized that ng Shi’s comnt about Xu Qin being not bad was relative to the other neighbors in the building.

Among a group of psychopathic killers, fierce ghosts, and monsters, any slight redeeming quality in Xu Qin was magnified imnsely.

Now, Han Fei was in a dilemma, he needed to complete a task in order to leave the ga, but there were no more tasks available with his “familiar” neighbors; he had no choice but to explore unfamiliar floors.

The unfamiliar floors were obviously very dangerous, and he wasn’t completely sure he could make it back safely.

“The new tasks must be forcing to explore unknown areas.

I rember after the first ti I exited the ga, the system had expressed a desire for to speed up my exploration.”

Looking at the dark corridor, Han Fei gripped the kitchen knife and slowly lifted his foot.

“Since I can’t avoid it, I can only move forward.”

Just as his lifted foot landed on the step, Han Fei heard a “clatter” from downstairs, as if the chain on the door at the entrance of the corridor had been removed.

“Was the door at the entrance to the corridor opened?

Has soone left the apartnt building, or has soone from outside entered it?”

The motion-sensor light on the first floor turned on, and Han Fei quietly approached the railing, finding an angle to look down the stairs.

A shadow appeared on the wall between the first and second floors, looking like a person lying on the ground.

“This doesn’t look good.”

After seeing that strange shadow, Han Fei imdiately prepared to head back to the haunted house; but just when he was about to turn around, a cold, synthetic voice echoed in his mind.

“Player 0000 please note!

You entered the corridor at 3:04 a.m., triggering a hidden corridor task—’Don’t Look Back.'”

“Hidden Task: In this open world, various random tasks are hidden, and the higher your luck value, the more likely you are to trigger a random hidden task.”

“Don’t Look Back (one of the hidden corridor tasks): For the next fifteen minutes, no matter what happens, do not go downstairs or look behind you; if you violate this, you are very likely to die.”

After hearing the cold, chanical, synthetic voice in his mind, Han Fei’s heart chilled by half.

His body stiffened on the spot, not daring to carelessly twist his neck.

“Why did I trigger another hidden task?

Didn’t Huang Ying say that the probability of triggering a hidden task is extrely low, and they are very rare tasks?

I’ve only reached level three and have already encountered two hidden tasks!”

Holding his breath and listening intently, Han Fei’s Adam’s apple trembled: “I can’t go downstairs or look back for fifteen minutes, if I do, I’ll die?

This task description is too direct, there’s absolutely no leeway!”

Maintaining his posture, Han Fei stopped between the fourth and fifth floors, now aware that there was soone on the first floor lying on the ground running upstairs, and also knowing that a dark figure had just entered a room on the fifth floor; neither were good signs.

His breathing gradually beca rapid, the task required Han Fei not to retreat; if sothing really did co his way, he could only run upstairs, but the dangers above were clearly much greater than those below; he vividly rembered being torn apart after going upstairs to investigate a noise.

“What should I do?

Should I light a cigarette to calm down?”

After putting on the amulet ng Shi gave him, Han Fei also touched the lighter in his pocket, unsure of what would happen if he lit a cigarette, but he just wanted to be prepared.

The sound-activated light never ca on again, but Han Fei could faintly hear disorganized footsteps behind him, as if the person had just learned to walk.

Slowly leaning against the wall, Han Fei now really hoped his passive ability, Hide-and-Seek, could take effect, but unfortunately, Hide-and-Seek could only reduce his presence.

There wasn’t a single obstacle in the corridor, and anyone, unless blind, could see him as he was quite noticeable.

The footsteps from downstairs were getting closer, and Han Fei’s heart slowly began to rise.

One of the mission requirents was that he could not go downstairs.

Unless absolutely necessary, Han Fei dared not randomly go upstairs; the higher he went, the farther he would be from the Haunted House.

Standing alone in the corridor at midnight, listening to the footsteps behind him getting nearer, Han Fei’s heartbeat started to accelerate uncontrollably.

He instinctively gripped the kitchen knife tighter, and the footsteps behind him entered his ears clearly, until, at a certain mont, they suddenly disappeared.

“There’s no sound anymore?”

Han Fei barely resisted the urge to look back.

He maintained his posture, but just a few seconds later, another incident occurred in the corridor.

“Creak…”

The chair stuck at the entrance of the Haunted House was moved aside, and the security door of 1044, the Haunted House, was gently closed!

The mont the door of the Haunted House shut, Han Fei felt as if he had lost family ties, a chill crawled up his chest from his ankles, and his calves trembled slightly.

Drip, drip.

It was uncertain whether it was water droplets or blood droplets, but so viscous liquid dripped on his back.

Han Fei could feel that there was sothing standing right behind him.

Han Fei subconsciously took a step forward.

As he moved, two sets of footsteps appeared in the corridor.

“It’s only been a minute…”

Han Fei struggled to calm himself down, but even with his strong ntal fortitude, fear started to erge physiologically.

“Don’t panic, as long as I don’t turn around within fifteen minutes, this hidden task will be considered complete, and then I can directly exit the ga.”

Biting his tongue tip, Han Fei used the pain to dispel his fear: “The other party doesn’t seem to want to kill yet; I hope they are thinking of toying with like a cat with a mouse, slowly torturing to death, so I can drag this out longer.”

“Huh?

How did you get trapped here too?”

While Han Fei was deep in thought, a very familiar voice suddenly ca from behind him.

The voice felt very intimate, like that of a forr friend, but he couldn’t recall whose voice it was.

“I didn’t expect to see you in this ghostly place.

How did you get in?”

The voice ca again, but Han Fei still did not turn around.

Even though the voice felt extrely familiar and spoke in a very intimate tone, discussing sothing of great interest to him, Han Fei was very aware that he had never had friends before—Not a single one!

So the voice had to be emitted by a ghost, trying to trick him into turning around.

Probably, the ghost standing behind Han Fei never expected this, still trying to coax Han Fei with a friendly tone.

To buy ti, Han Fei quickly got into the act, adjusting his tone as if he was about to recall who the other person was.
