392: Chapter 392: Promoting Two Ranks in a Row 392: Chapter 392: Promoting Two Ranks in a Row Han Fei fulfilled the wishes of three souls, and after a long night had passed, everyone saw the first light of dawn—a new beginning was on the horizon.
With his family’s encouragent, the Old Ghost’s grandson puffed out his chest while crying and gritting his teeth, wanting to beco what his relatives hoped for.
Laisheng’s parents had not fully recovered yet, but the child clung to them, no matter where his monster-turned parents went, he always followed, trotting behind them.
Yinghuo also t the group mbers he had helped, only he didn’t expect such an underworld-ish first offline et-up.
Before, the group mbers relied on him, but in the Deep World, they protected him in the center.
Everyone had found a way out, and the souls that Han Fei had attached to were slowly fading away.
“4444 The wardrobe has been destroyed, the pathway left by the butterfly can’t be used, so how am I going to send them back?
Use the Soul-returning Talent?”
There was no better way at the mont, and Han Fei also wanted to give them more ti.
After eating the food Xu Qin brought, Han Fei’s Life Value had recovered to within the safety line, but his hands and feet were still unable to move violently; this ti his injury was too severe, his face was almost disfigured.
“I’m alright, go help Little Eight calm down first.” The butterfly’s consciousness had dissipated, but its traces were still all over the Death Building.
Little Eight and Zhuang Wen, driven into madness, had turned the butterfly to ashes, yet they were unable to let go, continuing to destroy the entire building.
To avoid being buried alive, everyone in the Happiness Residental Community and the Spider were struggling to stop the two of them.
After a long ti, Little Eight finally walked out from the frenzy, the giant red phantom collapsed with a thunderous crash, leaving only eight incomplete souls in the rubble.
“The previous Building Chief instructed Wei Youfu not to leave the Happiness Residental Community unless absolutely necessary.” Han Fei looked at those eight unconscious figures with a gentle gaze, as if looking at his own family mbers: “A person who didn’t even have friends in reality, yet found true family in the Deep World.”
Thinking of family, Han Fei stood up and looked into the distance, he searched for a long ti in the ruins, and finally, in a corner, he saw Zhuang Ren’s eldest daughter, Zhuang Qing.
Curled up, holding a broken God Statue, Zhuang Qing’s Death Curse had been lifted, and her mories were slowly coming back.
Supported by Xu Qin, Han Fei approached Zhuang Qing: “Where is your mother and sister?”
Looking up confused, Zhuang Qing looked at Han Fei with a hoarse voice: “Not long after they entered the Death Building, they were tornted by the butterfly until their souls scattered.”
Clutching at the fragnts of Paperman on the ground, with blue veins popping up on the back of her hand, Zhuang Qing seed to have reached a point of despair: “The butterfly wanted to use us to perform the Soul-summoning Ceremony; it first threatened and my mother by holding on to my sister’s soul, and then used my mother and sister to threaten .
That beast only cares for things useful to itself, I was the only one it left behind.”
Zhuang Qing’s gaze was empty, her last bit of will beginning to waver, she had no more lingering attachnts to this world now.
“You’re the only one left?” Han Fei shook his head gently: “Do you have any wishes now?
I might be able to help you fulfill them.”
“Wishes?” Zhuang Qing seed to have lost faith in everything, her world had completely collapsed when her mory returned, now she only had one last bit of perseverance left: “I have not seen my father for a long ti, my mory of him is only filled with regret, that accident happened so suddenly, I rember clearly, I even quarreled with him that morning.”
“Do you want to see him once more?”
“The butterfly has always wanted us to summon his soul into the Death Building, but we have never been successful.
I know the steps of Soul-summoning; it’s only possible when both sides miss each other.
Maybe my father doesn’t miss us.
During that ti of the incident, he was deeply embroiled in scandal, people said he and an actress took their rehearsals to bed, now he’s probably remarried.” Zhuang Qing clutched the cracked God Statue in her arms, her expression one of desolate loneliness.
“The reason Soul-summoning was not successful is not because he doesn’t miss you, but because of other reasons.”
“You don’t have to comfort .”
“I’m telling the truth.
Your father, in search of you, left his old circle, gave up his job, and even willingly beca what others considered a madman.” Han Fei decided to fulfill the promise he and Zhuang Ren had made, he walked to a room nearby that was still intact: “Let him tell you himself.”
Han Fei closed the door and softly chanted two words in the room, “Soul-summoning!”
The attribute panel, like a blood-red Ghost Gate, slowly opened.
A red and white “little fish” struggled in the Blood Sea, dodging one ghost face after another until, with all its strength, it leaped out of the water.
The Ghost Gate closed, and Zhuang Ren knelt on the floor, looking at Han Fei in front of him with a shocked expression.
“Han Fei?”
“Your daughter is outside this door.”
As soon as Han Fei’s words fell, Zhuang Ren scrambled up from the ground and pushed hard against the door in front of him.
The corridor outside was filled with shattered flesh and terrifying Ghosts and Monsters; Zhuang Ren was so frightened that he fell to the ground, but at that mont, his eyes caught sight of Zhuang Qing in the corner.
His lips trembling, Zhuang Ren, too terrified to even stand steady, touched the wall and got up.
He ran through the Fierce Ghosts and Monsters towards his daughter.
Compared to many years ago, Zhuang Ren’s hair had turned completely white, his skin was loose, his face was full of wrinkles, and the once tall and slightly overweight man had now beco a gaunt old man.
He had changed so much in appearance, but his eyes remained the sa as before.
Zhuang Qing had endured so much pain in the Death Building, she thought she had beco completely numb, but when she saw her father rushing towards her like that, tears still involuntarily slid down her cheeks.
Han Fei did not want to disturb Zhuang Ren, but as Zhuang Ren approached Zhuang Qing, the last remaining God Statue suddenly erupted in a blood light.
It was the God Statue that had been protecting Zhuang Qing, which was why she hadn’t been eaten by the Butterfly and had luckily survived.
Now, it seed as if the God Statue sensed sothing.
It shattered instantly as Zhuang Ren touched Zhuang Qing, and its blood light enveloped Zhuang Ren.
He fell to the ground in agony, clutching his head and screaming, his eyes filled with blood-soaked human figures that appeared to be hidden in his Brain Sea, activating mories that didn’t belong to him.
Worried about the Butterfly’s resurrection, all the Ghosts and Monsters in the Death Building sward over.
Han Fei, concerned that Zhuang Ren would die from fright once he opened his eyes, quickly squeezed into the middle of the crowd.
“Calm down!
Your daughter is right by your side!
You’ve finally seen her after so much trouble!
Don’t lose yourself!”
Han Fei shouted loudly, but to no effect, until Zhuang Qing stood up and embraced her emaciated and aged father.
Zhuang Ren, almost losing control near his family, slowly regained his sanity.
He pressed his hands against his head, as though he wished he could crack it open.
Han Fei also felt a sense of fear now.
If he had directly used Soul-summoning to call Zhuang Ren to room 4144 earlier, he might have been imdiately affected.
After a long while, Zhuang Ren finally spoke.
His eyes were full of terror, and he stamred, “I have so fragnted images in my head, things I never experienced!”
“What did you see?”
Zhuang Ren’s Brain Sea had been tampered with by the Chairman of Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, hiding within it a Blood Sea that seed to resonate with the God Statue.
“I saw a massive Monster crawl out from a black cocoon, engulfed in malice, fighting with a man.
Both of them were left badly injured, leaving two broken shrines behind.” Zhuang Ren was only recounting the fragnts he had seen in his Brain Sea, oblivious to the significant impact his words had on Han Fei.
“A Monster crawling out from a black cocoon?” Han Fei had been to the very bottom of the Death Building, and he knew all the Death Intent in the entire building emanated from the Giant Cocoon.
In other words, the ability to withstand the Unspeakable’s Death Intent ca from the Giant Cocoon.
rely the shed exoskeleton was enough to withstand the singing, and although the singing was grievously injured, it was still an Unspeakable entity.
From this, it could be inferred that the butterflies that flew out of the Giant Cocoon must also be Unspeakable.
“What else did you see?” Han Fei’s voice now carried a trace of chill.
“The man fighting the Monster told it that all its struggles were in vain, that it was dood to perish in the most tragic way possible within the nightmare.”
“Die in the nightmare?
And then what?”
“That’s all.
The Monster eventually fled into a city completely shrouded in darkness, and the man did not pursue, only stating that he would one day destroy it thoroughly.”
The mories Zhuang Ren saw did not belong to him; he was just a pawn left behind by the Fu brothers, perhaps also one of their contingency plans.
After hearing Zhuang Ren’s words, Han Fei’s brows furrowed tightly.
His gaze slowly shifted to the Security Guard Oiran and the madman in room 1144.
“The Butterfly we killed was always trying to create another self.
To achieve this goal, it did many crazy things, but why did it want to create other butterflies?”
“Was such a huge sacrifice made just to avoid being alone?”
“With the Butterfly’s personality, it wouldn’t do such a pointless thing.
If it created another self, it must have wanted the new Butterfly to die in its stead, to take on the dood future of the nightmare for itself.”
Han Fei rembered the countless children’s Residual Souls hanging from the black Giant Cocoons and silently recited the words from the Soul-returning Night mission prompt: “Falling into the Bottom of Nightmare Valley, Nightmares and Devils stare at , silent.
They wonder why I do not struggle or cry for help?
I wonder why they would ask such a question?”
“Is it possible that not every child in this world is like ?
From birth, confined in a cocoon room until at last, they grow wings?”
The Nightmare Valley ntioned in the prompt was the black Giant Cocoon.
The Butterfly that Han Fei killed had existed even before beco a Butterfly; the Giant Cocoon was already there!
“Regardless of whether the one we killed was the real Butterfly, at least that guy has suffered its punishnt.
Now, we need to prepare, strengthen ourselves.
Next ti, I want to sever its wings with my own hands.”
Standing in the Death Building, Han Fei looked towards the city enveloped in darkness in the distance.
In the boundless dark, who knew how many horrors and Unspeakable secrets were hidden.
The reunion was brief, mainly because the day was about to break in the Mortal World.
Laisheng’s parents were reluctant to let their child leave, but they knew they had to send him away.
As Soul Chasers inside the Death Building, they were the Butterfly’s marionettes, obeying its every command, and thus knew many of the Butterfly’s secrets.
The couple, holding the tired and crying Laisheng, approached Han Fei and indicated for him to follow them down into the Death Building.
Following the exposed veins of the Death Building, Han Fei and the others were led by the Soul Chasers to the deepest part of the structure.
As the Shrine was destroyed and its heart devoured, the Giant Cocoon began to crumble as well.
The pit-covered flowers had long withered and revealed an Altar covered with “Sacrificial Offerings” that were almost entirely children’s photos.
The withered Blood Flowers around the photos made it incredibly painful to look at.
After the Butterfly’s consciousness dissipated, not only Laisheng’s parents but also other Soul Chasers seed to have drifted here, their eyes filled with complex emotions as they looked at the children in the photos.
“It seems like the photos are gathering the Butterfly’s Hatred.”
Han Fei placed the photos he had collected onto the Altar as well.
Closely observing, he found that the children in the photos seed as if they were still alive, occasionally blinking at Han Fei as though they were trying to convey sothing.
As dawn approached, one by one, the Soul Chasers leaped into the Deep Pit, their Blood Clothes fading slowly while the portraits of the children gradually gained color.
“Leave, and don’t co back again.”
The body of the Soul Chaser and the hatred within the butterfly in the photo rged, as if they were a key, unlocking the shackles on the altar.
The children, now vibrant with color, began to break free from the confines of the photographs.
As they burst out of the photos, their souls still carried a faint glow.
Those innocent and young souls, like fireflies, ascended in the darkness, converging into a soft light.
The underground of the Death Building did not know how many children’s nightmares it had gathered, but those rising glimrs linked the skies of the Deep World with the world below the Death Building.
“This is a dream, and when you wake from it, you should live well.”
Laisheng’s parents pushed him to the center of the altar.
As his small body rose with the light curtain, a faint light spilled from his brain, flowing into Han Fei’s body nearby.
Next were Yinghuo and the Old Ghost’s grandson.
Those summoned by the Soul-summoning had to return before daybreak in the Mortal World, the final step of the Soul-returning Night.
Their summoned Residual Souls and the souls of countless children ascended together, seemingly to the place they were ant to go.
Three souls and three spirits returned to Han Fei’s body.
After entering his brain, the mory sea, previously a blood-red color, slowly returned to normal, and the Blood-colored Orphanage was once again suppressed deep within his mind.
At last, the exit button for the system lit up, and Han Fei, relieved from the special status, took a long breath.
However, the mishap he encountered this ti served as a reminder for him.
Previously, he believed that the Soul Split was the reason he could not leave the ga, but upon further thought, that was not the case.
He could still exit even when his first soul fragnt was drawn out until Kuangxiao Han Fei was triggered, and only then did the system inform him he was in a special state and unable to exit the ga.
“When the Blood-colored Orphanage appeared in my mind, the system seed to prevent from leaving; could it be that it was worried about sothing?”
As mories gradually returned, and the three souls completely rged with Han Fei, he heard the system’s notification sound.
“Player number 0000, please note!

The system’s notifications were non-stop, and as Han Fei watched his Attribute Panel change, he was more curious about how many people the Soul of Evil had actually killed?
To know that in the Deep World, killing Grudges barely yields any Experience, it’s mainly through completing quests that one progresses, but the number of Grudges the Soul of Evil killed in just one night was so many that the system especially provided a notification, which was sowhat incredible.
