80: Chapter 11 Farewell 80: Chapter 11 Farewell Lin Xiaoguai was sizing up Ji Hongfen, and Ji Hongfen was also sizing her and Shen Chi up.

She felt sowhat surprised inside.

Coming from a family of intellectuals and due to her extended family connections, she had t many outstanding people and considered herself to have a discerning eye.

But the two people in front of her were truly out of the ordinary.

Let’s not even ntion appearances, as it wasn’t unheard of for strikingly beautiful people to co from impoverished areas, but the temperant of these two was absolutely extraordinary.

The man, well, she could let that pass.

Both her uncles were in the military, so she could tell this person was from the military.

Although he was wearing civilian clothes, his movents carried a martial air unique to the military, and moreover…

this man was definitely soone who had spent years on the battlefield fighting enemies.

The ferocious aura hidden behind his stern and resolute expression was impressively morable to her.

She had been nearly frightened to tears when her uncles returned from the battlefield.

Even though they later concealed their aura, they felt different than before.

Shen Chi, compared to her uncles, made an even more formidable impression on her.

As for the woman…

Ji Hongfen recalled a granddaughter of her grandfather’s old friend.

Unlike her own family’s decline, that family could still be counted as a scholarly family.

Shen Xiu’s sister-in-law reminded her of that lady—elegant and graceful, as if personally illustrating the phrase “a cultivated mind makes a graceful deanor”.

But there was also sothing different about this woman, an elegant composure as if refined by years, truly curious and strange.

“Hello, I am Xiuxiu’s sister-in-law, Lin Xiaoguai.

This is my husband, Shen Chi.” At that ti, when both husband and wife referred to each other as “my love”, Lin Xiaoguai had to “do as the Romans do.”

Hearing Lin Xiaoguai “admit” to her identity made Shen Chi’s heart brighten, his gaze toward Lin Xiaoguai was hotter than ever before.

Lin Xiaoguai smiled awkwardly, placing the washbasin and footbath aside, and picked up a rag intending to clean the bed.

“Let do that.” Just as she was about to climb onto the bunk belonging to Shen Xiu, Shen Chi stopped her, took the rag without a word, stuffed Little Niangao into her arms, and swiftly climbed up to start wiping.

Watching Shen Chi’s trousers quickly get dusty from the pole, Lin Xiaoguai felt speechless.

To avoid getting even dirtier when he ca down, she quickly grabbed a rag and wiped the dust off the pole.

Shen Chi was very quick.

After Lin Xiaoguai checked twice to ensure not a spot of dust remained, she opened the luggage she had brought and took out the bedding she had prepared beforehand.

— Knowing that schools at that ti generally required students to bring their own bedding, she had started preparing these since the admission notice for Shen Xiu had arrived.

“Sister-in-law, not too big, not too small, just perfect,” Shen Xiu said, smiling as she looked at the neatly made bedsheet and mattress.

Lin Xiaoguai also smiled, “I asked around specifically, it ought to be just perfect.” Even in later tis, the dinsions for school dormitory beds remained this size, so she figured she’d get it right.

“The quilt seems a bit large,” Shen Xiu comnted, frowning.

“Not too big,” Lin Xiaoguai efficiently made the bed, tucking the edges of the quilt in, “Any smaller and it wouldn’t be warm enough, this way it’s just perfect.” To her, a quilt of one and a half ters was the bare minimum.

“Where did you buy this bedding, Xiuxiu?

It’s so beautiful,” Ji Hongfen said, looking sowhat enviously at Shen Xiu’s bedding—a clean and attractive mix of beige, black, and red stripes, with a stylish design.

The sheets and pillowcases were off-white, matched with a pillow sham of the sa color, exceptionally elegant, and both the pillow and quilt looked incredibly soft and warm, sinking down with a touch.

She had also brought new ones—striped sheets, peach-pink pillowcases, and bright red pillow shams, vibrant quilt covers, new cotton that was thick and warm, all specially brought from Shanghai by her godmother.

She had been very satisfied with them, but now…

Not to ntion that Shen Xiu’s bedding looked like a matching set, different from her assorted mix, just the patterns, compared to Shen Xiu’s, seed too gaudy.

Not to ntion their incredibly soft quilt core, pillow core, and mattress that she couldn’t guess the filling of.

“My sister-in-law made them,” Shen Xiu pursed her lips and smiled, a sense of undeniable pride in her expression, “My sister-in-law’s craftsmanship is really good; this bedsheet is just the simple one, the other set is even prettier.”

She took out another set of sheets from the luggage to replace, different from the simple-cut but elegant sheets already laid out, this set featured embroidery.

Besides the bedsheet being in a simple pink, the quilt and pillowcases were embroidered with silver threads into variously posed butterflies, exquisitely beautiful and captivating.
