Since Wang Zhaodi and others hadn’t called again, Lin Xiaoguai simply put the matter behind her.
Before she knew it, two months had passed, and Lin Xiaoguai had just finished a fundraising event when she received a call from Yu Xiaomiao.
"Xiao Guai, Yaya has run away from ho. She left only a note saying she was coming to the Capital to find you, and nothing else. Her phone is turned off, and I couldn’t find her at the train station," Yu Xiaomiao’s voice was full of anxiety.
Lin Xiaoguai paused, "When did this happen?"
"Just two hours ago," Yu Xiaomiao sobbed.
Lin Xiaoguai breathed a sigh of relief, "Don’t worry, since Yaya said she’s coming to , I’ll let you know as soon as she arrives."
"No, I’m worried she might not be able to find your place."
"Don’t worry, she’s been here more than once, she’ll definitely find the place," Lin Xiaoguai was not worried at all.
After a pause, she hesitantly asked, "Isn’t Yaya always sensible? Why would she suddenly run away from ho?"
She couldn’t understand this at all. Despite Yaya’s seemingly carefree personality, she was actually very filial, and she always listened to her parents.
"It’s our fault," Yu Xiaomiao cried, "Rember we ntioned Yaya had a boyfriend she has been dating since her sophomore year? He even visited our house, a very nice young man, and both of us liked him. They graduated this year and the young man ca to discuss marriage with Yaya. Naturally, her father and I didn’t want Yaya to marry so soon, so we suggested eting the parents from both sides first."
"And thank goodness we did. Otherwise, we would have never imagined his family situation was so bad. We’re not afraid of poverty, but his family has not only his grandparents and parents, but also two uncles and an aunt who never settled down because of their family background. It seems they want Yaya to have three children after getting married and adopt two out to those uncles. If it were just that, extra children wouldn’t be an issue—many people even wish they could have more. But among the three elder won in his house, aside from a relatively amiable mother-in-law, the grandmother and aunt are extrely difficult to deal with. Furthermore, they also want Yaya to find work in their town after she marries into their family. It’s just a small town, far up north. We only have one daughter, and it’s far from Shanghai; if Yaya goes there, we’d hardly see her even once a year. How would that be fair to my daughter? Besides, there aren’t good job prospects in their small town. Although we have an average quality of life in Shanghai, but finding a slightly more comfortable job for Yaya isn’t impossible. Why should she suffer there?"
Talking about this, Yu Xiaomiao was full of complaints.
Lin Xiaoguai frowned, "What did Yin Kun say about this?" She had t Yaya’s boyfriend twice when they ca over, and from her perspective, the boy nad Yin Kun seed decent.
"What can he say?" Yu Xiaomiao replied irritably, "However many ideas he has, they crumble in the face of his family’s opposition."
"I actually quite like the boy, but with his family situation... I can’t let Yaya marry him."
"Yaya doesn’t agree?" Lin Xiaoguai wondered if this conflict was the reason she had run away?
"No," Yu Xiaomiao paused, "I carefully explained the pros and cons to her. You know the girl; she’s always obedient. Although she was upset for a long ti, she eventually broke up with Yin Kun."
"So what happened?" Lin Xiaoguai was puzzled.
If the key issue was resolved, what was left?
"It’s her grandmother!" Yu Xiaomiao was annoyed, "She’s always been muddle-headed. Seeing Yaya upset, she wanted her to forget Yin Kun quickly and even sought matchmakers to set her up with new n. We couldn’t dissuade her. Maybe Yaya could tolerate it once or twice, but eventually she couldn’t take it. In the morning, her grandmother was telling her about several decent n and she seed really unhappy. By afternoon, she was gone."
Lin Xiaoguai was speechless; Yaya’s grandmother was indeed implausible.
"Alright, I get the gist of the situation. When Yaya arrives, I will talk to her and try to make her feel better. You shouldn’t worry too much. Let her stay here for a while since she’s upset; it’ll be good company for too."
"That’s the only option now."
After this phone call, Lin Xiaoguai started waiting for Yaya to arrive. But after a week with no sign of her, she started to get anxious.
"Do you think sothing might have happened to Yaya?" Lin Xiaoguai nervously asked.
"I’ve had soone check the train station, but there’s no news," Shen Chi also frowned.
Just as Lin Xiaoguai was about to report to the police, Yaya suddenly appeared at their doorstep.
"You silly child, where have you been? Do you know your parents and I were almost worried to death?" Faced with Yaya’s carefree smile, Lin Xiaoguai imdiately thwacked her on the head.
"Ah?" Wang Zhizheng paused, "I took a bus here, but it wasn’t a direct one. I stopped and played for several days. I’m sorry, godmother, don’t be mad."
Seeing her stern face, Wang Zhizheng wasn’t scared but ca up and hugged her affectionately.
Lin Xiaoguai couldn’t stay mad, and she glared at her, "You better go call your parents right now." Seeing the child appeared to be in good spirits also made her feel relieved.
"Roger that!" Wang Zhizheng playfully saluted then dashed inside to make the call.
Yu Xiaomiao was obviously thrilled to receive the call, scolded Wang Zhizheng heavily, and she could only apologize and beg for forgiveness.
Lin Xiaoguai instructed Mrs. Zhang to take Yaya’s luggage to the guest room, then after the call was finished, she led her to sit on the couch.
