Chapter 426: Chapter 35 Charitable Foundation_2

But do the items in the gift shop really sell that well?

Shen Chi gave Lin Xiaoguai a look, indicating that he would check on this matter privately.

Lin Xiaoguai felt relieved and said to Shen Zhangming, “Grandpa, you cannot do this anymore. It’s not that I’m reluctant to spend the money, but starting a precedent with credit sales is not acceptable. Think about it, if you start a precedent, those who are well-inford will certainly find out. You know what kind of custors we have in the store. If they also want to buy on credit, and I refuse, wouldn’t they think I look down on them? But if I accept credit sales and encounter those with poor credit, can this store continue to operate in the long run?”

Shen Zhangming nodded repeatedly, “Right, no credit sales, Grandpa was confused. Don’t be angry, I’ll refuse her next ti I see her.” He understood these principles well; in business, credit sales were most feared as they tied up the available cash, and prolonged credit could lead to bankruptcy. But the girl was truly pitiable, and he thought that extending credit to just her wouldn’t be a problem, yet he hadn’t considered that other custors would feel discontented.

However, he genuinely felt sorry for the girl, with a hint of guilt inevitably showing on his face.

His emotions were written all over his face, and Lin Xiaoguai could clearly see it. Older people are often simpler in their thoughts; when they can’t help, they clean their own doorsteps, but when they can, they are easily moved to act with kindness.

She suggested, “Grandpa, it’s not that you can’t help that young girl, but it has to be done differently. Credit sales are definitely out of the question. You could lend her the money, and it doesn’t matter whether or not you have a written agreent. We aren’t short of that money, and if she intends to repay it soday, whenever that is, it will be fine.”

She actually didn’t have any prejudice against the girl, who was, after all, trying to survive, and she didn’t mind helping if she could.

“Really?” Shen Zhangming’s eyes lit up.

Lin Xiaoguai nodded, “Grandpa, you can decide what to do with your own money.”

After thinking it over, Shen Zhangming still said, “Let’s have her write a promissory note.” The money he used was given to him by his grandson and granddaughter-in-law. He knew they wouldn’t miss it, but since it was earned through their hard work, giving it away for free didn’t sit well with him.

“Up to you,” Lin Xiaoguai was indifferent about it.

That evening, when Shen Yinian returned from school, the family once again enjoyed a warm gathering.

After telling the quadruplets their bedti story and watching them fall asleep, Lin Xiaoguai returned to her bedroom.

“Shen Chi, do you think it’s a good idea for to start a charitable foundation?” cuddled by Shen Chi, Lin Xiaoguai suddenly asked.

“A charitable foundation?”

Lin Xiaoguai briefly explained the concept of a charitable foundation.

Shen Chi frowned and said, “From what you’re saying, a charitable foundation would require a trendous amount of funds every year. Can we afford it now?”

Lin Xiaoguai paused, “Not now but we could in the future.”

She pondered for a mont and added, “Also, we don’t need to start big. We can develop gradually, starting from the Capital and expanding step by step. We’ll do what we can according to our capacity.”

“And who will the charity beneficiaries be?”

Lin Xiaoguai thought for a mont and replied, “Children and people with disabilities.” There were many possible targets for charity, but these were the ones she most wanted to help.

“For children, the charity would primarily be educational, but I’m not in favor of unconditioned financial aid. To ensure better operation of the foundation, I plan to use a loan system to assist those children. Once they are capable of working, they’d have to gradually repay the financial aid they received, which would then be used to help other children. As for people with disabilities, I prefer to arrange for them to learn a skill so that they can integrate into society and secure a sustainable occupation.”

Shen Chi had no objections, but added, “For aid targeting people with disabilities, I hope veterans with disabilities could be given priority.”

He had always arranged jobs for veterans and shown favor to their families. Although part of it was to earn points with his superiors, his desire to help them was sincere.

“Okay,” Lin Xiaoguai agreed imdiately, recognizing that disabled veterans truly deserved respect.

“We need business support for the charitable foundation, so I should move all my assets under my na into the foundation,” Shen Chi thought aloud.

Lin Xiaoguai was taken aback, hesitant, “Are you sure?” She had originally planned to use the funds from the gift shop to support the charitable foundation.

Shen Chi nodded; he had other ideas in mind. Having a charitable foundation could justify his acquisition of more properties, sparing him the hassle.

“We won’t have imdiate financial issues then, but what about the managent personnel?” he asked again.

“I haven’t thought about that yet,” Lin Xiaoguai admitted.

Knowing she would say that, Shen Chi looked resigned, thought for a mont, and suggested, “You definitely should take the position of Chairman. The Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General could be your sister-in-law and sister. As you said, these positions wouldn’t be very busy – just visit occasionally to supervise and inspect, and attend etings when major decisions need to be made. The board of directors would require more effort, particularly for the positions of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Secretary-General, who really need to do substantial work. Character is particularly important for these roles, and I can’t recomnd anyone. However, you might consider so of the leisurely upper-class ladies.”

“The rest of the board mbers and departnt managers could be hired. For the unpaid directors, you could also look among well-acquainted families; many people would likely volunteer for the prestigious title. But as I said, character is exceedingly important.” (To be continued. If you enjoy this series, please visit Qidian (qidian) to vote with a recomndation ticket or monthly ticket.
