Chapter 314: Chapter 26: Progress of the Farm_2

Besides the single baby strollers, Lin Xiaoguai had also purchased those for twins, hence his comnt.

“I’m going to take a nap,” Shen Yinian said with slight displeasure.

“Just for a bit, we’ll take a stroll around the yard and then co back, please!” Zeng Yi begged with clasped hands.

Shen Yinian, worn down by his persistence, finally agreed, “If it delays my nap, you’re going to regret it.”

“Definitely, definitely,” Zeng Yi said cheerfully.

Zeng Yi dragged Shen Yinian out to the yard to push the baby strollers. Lin Xiaoguai watched with amusent; Xiao Guai had many little friends, but none who were quite as shaless in cajoling him into doing things he normally wouldn’t do as Zeng Yi was.

In the afternoon, after putting the quadruplets to sleep, Lin Xiaoguai tidied up and headed to the farm.

After more than a month, the construction of the farm had gotten on track. A ring of bluestone walls had been built around the periter, the materials purchased from the exchange store mixed and set firmly. Atop the walls was a 0.6 ter high silver-gray iron fence, chosen for its quality material, and the sharp tops provided maximum theft prevention.

Inside the walls, half of the moat depicted in the design blueprints had already been dug out, and the foundations for the apartnt buildings were also in place. The workers were bustling about in their tasks.

“Mrs. Shen, are you here to check on the progress?” At that mont, a contractor noticed her.

“Captain Jiang,” Lin Xiaoguai greeted with a smile: “I like to co by whenever I can.”

“Let update you,” Jiang Dah said as he snuffed out his cigarette and pointed in one direction, “We’ve laid the foundations for the apartnt buildings exactly as shown on the blueprints. Working on the foundations alone took more than half a month, but I guarantee they’re both deep and solid. The scaffolding is all set up, and we’re just waiting for the cent and yellow sand to arrive tomorrow morning so we can get to work.”

In fact, he thought the amount of cent specified on the blueprint was too much. Although cent was sowhat better than li, the price difference was so significant that it didn’t make sense. Nowadays, who builds a house using only cent instead of li?

“How’s the agricultural section coming along?” inquired Lin Xiaoguai.

“That area is currently being marked out. That part is more labor-intensive. Once the lines are drawn, it’ll be much simpler,” Jiang Dah explained.

Although the engineering quality required for this project was the highest they had faced so far, the agricultural area, despite its large size, did not require much in terms of construction. The blueprints might have included so pebble paths to delineate areas, but those were not a big deal. The real tasks were constructing shelters for the livestock in the pasture and excavating fish ponds. The employer’s standards were high, but considering those weren’t actual living quarters, they wouldn’t take much ti.

“See over there? That row is going to be the storage buildings, per the blueprint, and that in front is the grain drying yard. As you instructed, the cent on the drying yard was layered several tis to ensure it wouldn’t crack for decades.”

“And there, the water tower has also begun construction. Once the water tower is completed, the moat, fish ponds, and man-made lakes will all be dug, and we will be able to connect the waters from different sources as depicted on the blueprint.”

“We’ve also dug the well for the orchard, and once we connect the water pipes, watering the fruit trees will be a breeze.”

Jiang Dah took Lin Xiaoguai on a tour of the farm that was still under construction, and after completing the tour, he said, “I’ve been in this business for over a decade, and it’s my first ti encountering a project this large, especially one with such high-quality standards.”

“Have they begun work on the main house of the farm and the villas in the residential area?” Lin Xiaoguai asked.

The so-called main house was to be their family ho, and as for the villas, Lin Xiaoguai had originally planned to build apartnt complexes. However, after consulting with the architectural designer, who listened to her ideas, he suggested allocating half of the residential area for villas to not only elevate the status of the community but also to maximize natural light. For the apartnts, he believed that low-rise buildings were a waste of space and advised building high-rises to make the best use of the land area.

—According to him, with Alien Civilization’s architectural standards, it would be possible to construct hundred-story high-rise apartnts with safety and quality surpassing Lin Xiao’s concept of low-rise buildings.

However, given how conspicuous such high-rises would be in the current era, Lin Xiaoguai opted for a second-tier high-rise, 25 stories tall.

The designer found this a pity but insisted strongly. After a stalemate, both sides compromised.

Lin Xiaoguai could start with the 25-story apartnts, but the architectural designer would design them as “modular buildings.”

This concept of modular buildings, a term from Alien Civilization, was popular among many corporate groups and governnt organizations during construction to prevent waste. It raised the question: what if there were future demands for more space? They couldn’t possibly demolish and rebuild, could they?

—It’s important to note that buildings from Alien Civilization had an extrely long lifespan.

Even with abundant funds, such waste could not be justified.

Hence the concept of modular buildings erged.

Modular buildings were designed to be capable of adding more floors or expanding, in line with the mainstream construction practices of Alien Civilization.

It wasn’t just the modular concept; the single-family villas in the residential area also took a lot of thought from the designer. Aiming to turn the area into an upscale and luxurious community for later high-value sales, Lin Xiaoguai discarded the idea of monotonous villa clusters in favor of personalized villas.

There were thirty villas in total, varying in size and style, all matched with the surrounding environnt and greenery, each a unique design.

“We just can’t help it, there’s so much to build and limited manpower. We can only take one step at a ti, otherwise, if we spread ourselves too thin, things might slip through the cracks,” Jiang Dah said, fanning himself with his hat.

“I have a request: I hope the main house can be built before the villa area. That way, I can get the house ready first and start managing the farm sooner, since many crops are ti-sensitive for planting,” Lin Xiaoguai spoke up.
