Chapter 304: Chapter 21 Volunteering_2

She would not provoke him again, but that was all.

Even though the Shen Family’s influence was at its zenith, and Lin Xiaoguai, the beloved Junior General’s wife cherished by Shen Chi, was highly sought after, she still had her pride and simply couldn’t bring herself to fawn over Wanwan.

Anyone but Lin Xiaoguai would do. Her affection for Shen Chi, though initially maybe tinged with ulterior motives, was not without genuine feeling.

Leaving aside how Lu Rong was educating her sister, Lin Xiaoguai, on the other side, was troubled as she picked up her daughter, who was crying at the top of her lungs, from the crib.

“Little ancestor, what’s wrong with you this ti?” Lin Xiaoguai was truly puzzled. Her eldest son had been so easy to handle, and her eldest daughter and her second son didn’t fuss, so why were her youngest son and daughter so lively?

As soon as Qiaoqiao was in her mother’s arms, she stopped crying and broke into giggles, her pink gums on full display, looking unbearably cute.

But Lin Xiaoguai had no mood to appreciate the cuteness at the mont. What ti was it now?!

“Waaaah—”

Just then, Little Spring Breeze woke up to see his mother holding his sister and not him. The little king of the castle imdiately felt unhappy too and started to bawl with an even louder voice.

Lin Xiaoguai held her forehead, feeling overwheld. As soone who always preferred quiet, she felt as though her head was buzzing, and it was about to explode from the noise.

“Little Spring Breeze and Qiaoqiao are crying again?” Luo Yufang hurried over upon hearing the commotion, seeing her granddaughter-in-law holding her great-granddaughter, both of whom were crying energetically.

“Grandma, why are they making so much fuss?” Handing her daughter to Luo Yufang, Lin Xiaoguai complained as she picked up Little Spring Breeze.

“Naughty boys turn out good, and naughty girls turn out clever,” Luo Yufang consoled while cooing at her great-granddaughter.

Lin Xiaoguai, not convinced, retorted, “What do you an? Little Niangao was such a good child when he was little. What’s not to like about him now?”

Luo Yufang knew her granddaughter-in-law had been exhausted by the two little ones who fussed day and night. Even if the older children were well-behaved, they still needed to be breastfed and have their diapers changed. Luo Yufang could only help during the day. After returning ho, she had stuffed her granddaughter-in-law with various nutritious foods to help produce more breast milk, but instead of gaining weight due to the children’s fussing, she had lost so and even developed dark circles under her eyes.

As Little Spring Breeze’s cries gradually subsided, Lin Xiaoguai sighed in relief. At this mont, Sisi and Little Sun woke up. They didn’t cry; instead, they looked at their mother with big, curious eyes.

“Did Mommy’s little darlings wake up?” Lin Xiaoguai bent down tenderly and kissed the foreheads of her two children, who responded with adorable smiles.

Indeed, she still preferred quiet, well-behaved children.

As if knowing their mother’s disapproval, Little Spring Breeze and Qiaoqiao simultaneously burst into howls. Lin Xiaoguai, feeling helpless, had to start soothing them again.

When Shen Chi returned, Lin Xiaoguai, without a word, handed Little Spring Breeze over to him, relieving her sore and numb arms with satisfaction.

There was no helping it; perhaps it was because of their blood, the children were especially attached to their parents. They always preferred to be held by their mom or dad, and while they could tolerate being in the arms of Luo Yufang and others, they wouldn’t last long before protesting loudly.

Moreover, the two youngest ones were particularly tricky, demanding to be held constantly, and wouldn’t let go unless they slept, otherwise they would definitely start wailing.

Shen Chi frowned upon seeing this, “Continuing like this isn’t a solution.” He had seen Wanwan’s hardships and had long had an opinion about it.

“What can you do? It’s your son and daughter who are causing a fuss,” Lin Xiaoguai inevitably snapped back, feeling irritable. Thinking back to how obedient and well-behaved she’d been as a child, she assud that Little Spring Breeze and Qiaoqiao’s troubleso behavior must co from their father.

Shen Chi, unruffled, simply suggested, “Why don’t we hire two nannies?”

“No way,” Lin Xiaoguai thought for a mont before replying, “Not to ntion whether hiring nannies would cause gossip in the compound, I don’t trust strangers to take care of my children. Rather than that, I’d rather suffer a little myself.” She might grumble out loud, but she never actually considered letting soone else take care of her children.

Shen Chi was not surprised by her answer, but he couldn’t bear to watch her continue to tire herself out.

He pondered and then suggested, “How about I buy a couple of cradles? That way they can sleep a bit more, and you can get a sound sleep.”

He felt the most important thing was to ensure Wanwan got a good night’s sleep; otherwise, continuing like this, she would inevitably beco sick from exhaustion.

Lin Xiaoguai imdiately dismissed the idea, thinking it impractical, and said, “Let’s not. I’ll just make up for it by sleeping more during the day.”

Shen Chi frowned, and Luo Yufang interjected, “Why don’t the children sleep with ? I can’t sleep well at night anyway. Since Wanwan’s milk is not enough, we might as well give them formula at night.”

“That won’t do,” Lin Xiaoguai shook her head, “Grandma, you already get so little sleep at night. If the children fuss, you’ll sleep even less. That would burden Grandpa too.”

“Well…” Shen Mincheng suddenly spoke up hesitantly, “Actually, I can take care of the children at night.”

“Are you up for it? Don’t sleep through the kids crying,” Shen Zhangming imdiately expressed his mistrust.

“No problem, I took care of Xiuxiu at night back then. You just tell how to prepare the formula,” Shen Mincheng eagerly replied.

Shen Chi was silent, looking to Lin Xiaoguai beside him. He agreed with the idea, but he knew Wanwan had reservations about her father-in-law.

Shen Mincheng looked at Lin Xiaoguai with anticipation, aware that his daughter-in-law had always held so grievances against him. Rembering how his grandson had nearly died before, he couldn’t muster much righteousness. Seeing his family so troubled, he volunteered himself, hoping to atone for past mistakes.

And he truly cherished his grandchildren.

Feeling uneasy under his gaze, Lin Xiaoguai hesitated, then said, “Let’s try putting Little Spring Breeze and Qiaoqiao in Dad’s room first. If it works, we can move Sisi and Little Sun there too. If not, forget it.” She couldn’t keep going on so little sleep, fearing nothing more than making a mistake while caring for her children due to fatigue.

Shen Mincheng nodded eagerly, “Okay, I’ll definitely take good care of the children!”
