June, with sumr just around the corner. I was in the midst of planning a trip.
Heena and I finally had so free ti in our schedules, and we managed to find dates that worked for the rest of the family too.
We considered waiting for Sarang's sumr break, but adults don't get vacations like that, and so people find it hard to take ti off in sumr.
So we all agreed to go as soon as we could coordinate our schedules. Plus, as sumr approached, the pension would enter peak season, which could inconvenience Yu Jun.
Of course, we weren't planning to stay for free - we intended to pay the full accommodation fee. But if we told Jun we were coming, he'd probably go out of his way for us, which could be troubleso during a busy period.
"So when is it again? First Friday in June?"
"Yeah, that's right."
"Got it~ I've been keeping the second week free just in case~"
"Really? That makes feel a bit bad."
"Don't worry, it'll fill up quickly anyway. Wow~ Will I finally get to see my sister-in-law and Sarang in person?"
"That's right. Take a good look. Try not to cry."
It's not like I hadn't seen Jun since he was discharged. But between work and taking care of Sarang, I hadn't been able to go down to Busan. Instead, Jun had co up to Seoul twice for work, and we'd t then.
I'd always wanted to introduce him to Heena and Sarang when he visited, but the timing never seed to work out. They still hadn't t.
Heena often had busy days, making it hard for her to free up ti, and Sarang always seed to be at a relative's house when Jun was in town.
"Sigh... If only I didn't have to manage the pension, I could've t my foxy wife and bunny-like kid..."
"Hahahahahaha! Oh, right. What a sha. If only you didn't have the pension... pffft... as if that would've made a difference."
"I really want to kill you right now."
Even after all these years, he was still a funny guy. I still kept in touch with a few army buddies, but none as frequently or closely as Jun.
Plus, hearing his voice after so long sparked a lively conversation that covered a wide range of topics.
We ended up chatting for nearly an hour before Jun had to get back to work.
"I'll call you again closer to the date."
"Yeah~ ssage ~"
-Click- The call ended, and as I sat there checking the ssages that had co in during our conversation-
-Rustle-
"......"
I felt an intense gaze from beside . Turning my head slightly, I saw Sarang staring at intently from the sofa.
What's this about?
"Sarang. What's wrong?"
"Dad, are you done with your phone call?"
"Yeah, it's over."
"Can I sit on your lap now?"
"Of course. Dad's lap is Sarang's special seat. Co here."
"Okay!"
No sooner had I finished speaking than she climbed onto my lap. Sarang leaned back against , replying to her friends' ssages on her smartphone.
"Are you chatting with your friends?"
"Yeah! Jooeun wants to co play at our house."
"Oh really? When?"
"During the break!"
Well, Jooeun's fine. Heena seems to like her too, given how much attention she pays to her.
As I stroked Sarang's hair, I went back to checking my ssages and replying. I sent a quick check-in to the group chat with my friends, and updated the family group chat about the confird pension dates. ℝåNỖ𝔟Ɛ𝘴
While my thumbs were busy typing, Sarang started tapping my chest with her head.
"Dad~ Hug !"
"You want a hug instead of head pats?"
"Yeah!"
At my daughter's request, I lowered my hands to wrap around her tummy. I was careful not to squeeze too hard.
"Tighter!"
But apparently, my consideration wasn't to Sarang's liking. She bumped her head against again, demanding more.
So I pulled her close, almost as tightly as I would hug Heena. Only then did she make a satisfied sound.
"Doesn't that hurt?"
"I like it this way!"
"Tell if it hurts, okay?"
"Okay!"
Though she said she liked it, I kept an eye on how tightly I was holding our delicate Sarang as I continued using my phone. My chin rested on her head, our hands side by side.
As we sat there, ssaging together in harmony, it suddenly occurred to that it might be a good ti to bring up the trip with Sarang again.
We were planning to go in two weeks, and half the fun of a trip is the anticipation leading up to it.
"Sarang, do you rember sothing?"
"What?"
"Rember when Dad said we'd all go on a fishing trip together?"
"I rember! You said we'd go catch fish together! When are we going?"
"We're going on Friday the week after next. How many days away is that?"
"Hmm! Umm... Ah! Thirteen days!"
"Thirteen days?"
"No, wait! In thirteen days!"
"Our Sarang is so smart~"
"Hehe!"
I wonder who she takes after to be this clever? Well, probably Heena.
Sarang swung her feet up and down, unable to contain her excitent. Her enthusiasm made it seem like we were leaving tomorrow.
Of course, she had a similar reaction when I first ntioned it, but it still ward my heart.
Sarang, like Heena, probably isn't all that interested in fishing. But the fact that she was so happy just to be doing sothing with was incredibly endearing.
"Hey! Then I want to fish with Dad!"
"You do? Should we hold the fishing rod together?"
"Yeah!"
I was planning to help her anyway, since it would be dangerous to let Sarang handle a fishing rod on her own.
As Sarang and I sat on the sofa, chatting away about our fishing trip, Heena approached us, fresh from her shower after coming ho from work.
"What's this? What are you two talking about so happily?"
"Mom! I'm going to go fishing with Dad!"
"Is that so~ You're going to fish with Dad?"
"Yeah!"
"What about ? Aren't you going to fish with Mom?"
"Oh! I should fish with Mom too! Dad! What should I do?"
"You can fish with Dad once, then with Mom once. One ti each."
"That'll work!"
Apparently unable to sit still any longer, Sarang tried to get up, so I loosened my arms. She then started bouncing around the living room, overjoyed.
"Ahem..."
The sound echoed all the way to the master bedroom, and my father-in-law erged, clearing his throat. It didn't seem like he was bothered by the noise; more likely, he was trying to get Sarang's attention.
Sure enough, as soon as Sarang looked his way, he spoke up as if it was his turn.
"Sarang. You should fish with Grandpa too, right?"
"Yes! I want to fish with Grandpa too!"
"Ho ho, shall we? Grandpa will catch a big one for you."
"Wow!"
"Big one, my foot... Last ti we went, you ca back empty-handed~"
"Hey now! That's unnecessary!"
My mother-in-law had also followed him out, and she playfully chided him. It seems he might not be as good at fishing as he likes to think.
While the two of them were busy arguing with Sarang about who was better at fishing, Heena sat down next to and pressed her lips to mine.
-Smooch!
"So, how'd it go? Is that day okay?"
She asked about the trip schedule after our brief kiss.
"Yeah. He even kept the next week open just in case."
"Really? That's so considerate of him..."
"He said it'll fill up quickly anyway. What about you? No problems?"
"Nope. The project's wrapped up, so nothing urgent should co up. What about you?"
"Sa here. Looks like we'll all be going on a trip together for the first ti in a while, if nothing cos up with my brothers."
"Hehe, I'm excited~ It'll be our first trip all together, including Jihu."
"Co to think of it, we've never traveled with Jihu before, have we?"
I thought of my nephew's face - the one who takes after my brother Jeongwoo and doesn't show much expression, even though we visit about once a week.
Jihu's pretty well-behaved too, so the trip shouldn't be too difficult.
"Suddenly, I miss Jihu. He's cute, you know. That blank, expressionless face of his is charming."
"What, do you wish we had a son?"
"No... I just think our nephew is cute. Whether it's a son or daughter, I'd love any child of ours."
"Is that so?"
Heena gave a seductive smile at my words. It seed like she was trying to tempt .
A mont later, those pretty lips parted to say sothing I'd been expecting for a while now.
"Then, should we try for a second child? I'm ready."
"Isn't it still too early?"
"Not at all! I've already looked into the maternity leave process. We can do it anyti, as long as you're up for it."
"Wow."
That's my Heena for you. Always prepared.
Co to think of it, a second child, huh? It's not like I hadn't thought about it. We'd both always said we wanted at least two kids.
We hoped Sarang could experience the sa joy, help, and happiness we'd received from our siblings throughout our lives.
But what made hesitate was the mory of how much Heena struggled when she was pregnant with Sarang.
I'd been by her side for most of the process, from pregnancy to childbirth, so those mories hit especially hard.
As I pondered, Heena continued her persuasion.
"Anyway, I don't think Mom and Dad are going to let us live independently for a while, so isn't now a good ti? Before we really move out on our own."
"That's true."
It was a very reasonable point. Once we're living independently, even if Heena takes maternity leave to look after the baby at ho, the burden would be enormous.
Of course, in that situation, either my mom or my mother-in-law would co to help, but it still wouldn't compare to having them right there to provide imdiate care.
We also had to consider the financial aspect. Our current inco should be sufficient, but living together would allow for much more savings.
Above all, Heena must have brought this up because she felt ready. We'd had Sarang in a bit of a rush, causing a lot of trouble for our families, so we hadn't easily broached the subject of a second child until now.
Looking back, Heena seed to have wanted a child then as if she was being chased by sothing. I'm not sure what it was.
But now, it seed she'd brought it up after considering various factors and deciding this was the best ti.
If so, all that remained was my decision.
But was there even a decision to make?
"Alright, let's do it."
"Really?!"
Heena's face lit up as she asked again, surprised by my quick decision after such brief consideration. I was worried about her, but she seed determined, and I wanted a second child too, so there was no reason to refuse.
Besides, I agreed with Heena that the timing was right.
"But we should probably talk about this, right? With your mom... We'll need a lot of help again if we have another."
"That's fine! I've been hinting at wanting a second child several tis recently!"
"That's a relief..."
I wondered if she might have revealed our hand too quickly, but I felt relieved deep down. It would have been a bit awkward for to bring up.
Anyway... hmm.
It does feel like we made this decision rather suddenly. A second child...
Well, I suppose the most important thing when having a child is...
"Heena."
"Yes!"
"Stash away all the condoms we have. We won't be needing them for a while."
"...Okay. Got it... Hehehe..."
Maybe we should give it our all when we go on this trip, after leaving Sarang in another room?
Author's Note:
My Girlfriend is Very Good to is... an all-ages... novel...
The side story has already surpassed 40 chapters. At this point, I'm not sure if this is still a side story, a part 2, or if I'm just continuing part 1. I don't even know how far I'll take it...
Originally, I planned to end the story around chapter 130...
