The elixir lted instantly when it entered the mouth. After Mu Chen’s hand loosened, the person wanted to cough it out but couldn’t.

The effects of the dicine surfaced quickly. In no ti, the person’s expression changed. His face turned deathly pale, and he appeared to be in excruciating pain, curling up into a ball and rolling on the floor from the agony.

"The effects take twenty breaths to onset. Once triggered, the pain becos extre. It seems this kind of tornt is hard to endure." Mu Chen held a pen and paper, observing the man’s reaction while recording notes.

Others saw Mu Chen’s deanor and couldn’t help but shudder, retreating a few steps back.

The person had planned to die rather than speak, especially since his family was held by those people behind him. If he spoke, he wouldn’t survive, nor would his family. But he hadn’t anticipated Mu Chen’s elixir to be so potent. He felt he was at his limit of pain, and the next wave would be even worse, with his body feeling like it had bugs crawling inside, causing severe discomfort.

Before long, his clothes were soaked in sweat, and he seed utterly drained.

"The first wave of effects lasts half an incense stick. It looks satisfactory, close to expectations." Mu Chen observed the man’s condition and continued recording.

Mu Chen’s voice felt like a devil’s to the man’s ears. Upon hearing that this was just the first wave of effects, he completely broke down.

"I’ll talk," his voice hoarse from pain, "give the antidote, and I’ll tell you."

"Speak first, then I’ll give you the antidote." Mu Chen put away his pen and paper, looking at the man with a cold expression.

Unable to resist, the man spoke, "We are from the Yi Family. Yesterday, you injured the young master and hard many guards. The Family Head was furious and ordered us to deal with you."

"So it really is the Yi Family!" Hua Shiyu had guessed that the Yi Family wouldn’t let things slide and didn’t expect them to send people last night.

Si Lin and others had suspected this when they saw the black-clad figures, and this only confird their suspicion, not surprising them.

"Those Yi Family mbers are truly annoying. They provoked us first, and we showed rcy by not killing that Yier. Yet, they dare co for revenge? They’re seeking death!" Yun Ran curled her lip, disdainful of the Yi Family’s actions.

"They’ve beco used to running rampant in Bi Qiu City. How could they stomach the grievance? But it doesn’t matter; they won’t need to exist from now on!" Rong Ye looked at the black-clad people with indifference.

Si Lin instructed Mu Chen to awaken all the black-clad figures, cripple their cultivation, and let them return to deliver a ssage to the Yi Family to prepare for their retaliation.

After the frightened black-clad figures departed, the group gathered in the flower hall of the front courtyard.

"Senior Brother Si, how should we deal with the Yi Family?" Yun Ran appeared very excited, as if ready to engage them if they appeared before her.

Their eyes fell on Si Lin, the senior brother and the highest cultivator, making him the natural leader.

"Nan Hua and Zhuo Tingqiu, you two go investigate the Yi Family’s influence in Bi Qiu City. I need to know who in the city most wants their downfall and assess their character." Without hesitation, Si Lin tasked Nan Hua and Zhuo Tingqiu.

"Alright, we’ll go right away." The two exchanged a glance, accepted the task, and left imdiately.

"Yun Ran, accompany Gu Qingqing. You two don’t need to get involved." Si Lin glimpsed at Yun Ran, who was eager to act, instructing calmly.

Yun Ran’s expression visibly deflated, glanced at Gu Qingqing, then perked up and nodded.

"We’ll decide what to do next once Nan Hua and Zhuo Tingqiu return." Si Lin glanced at the others, sat down leisurely, and spoke.

Upon hearing this, the others dared not object, each finding a seat to wait for Nan Hua and Zhuo Tingqiu’s return.

...

The black-clad figures, with their cultivation destroyed by Si Lin and others, supported each other and pitifully returned to the Yi Family. The gatekeeper recognized the leading figure as the Yi Family’s chief steward; one went inside to report, while another rushed to assist the chief steward.

Soon, the chief steward was escorted to Yi Qin’s study, while other black-clad figures returned to their hos.

"Family Head, I’ve failed you. Not only did we fail to deal with those people, but they discovered our identities and ruined our cultivation. They’ve sent a ssage to you." The chief steward, a trusted aide of Yi Qin, intimately knew Yi Qin’s temperant and, upon entering the study, disregarded his weak body and kneeled, crying.

Seeing the condition of the chief steward, Yi Qin’s face turned extrely grim, and hearing his words, was shocked into standing abruptly.

"How could this be? You led the best n of the Yi Family, all with cultivation beyond the fourth tier. How could your cultivation be crippled? What happened last night?" Yi Qin nearly fainted, as those led by the chief steward were considered the backbone of the Yi Family. Now that their cultivation was wrecked, years of training gone to waste, and their combat strength diminished, the blow was too great for him.

"Last night, as soon as we entered their courtyard, we fell into a maze. We didn’t see anyone and got knocked unconscious. When we awoke, our cultivation was already crippled." Describing their ordeal, the chief steward still hadn’t figured out what happened, realizing they had kicked an iron plate this ti!

"What? You an you didn’t even get to fight back before they crippled your cultivation and sent you back?" Yi Qin couldn’t help but rush to the chief steward, grabbed his collar, face twisted in disbelief.

Evidently, he couldn’t fathom how his n could be so weak!

"Yes." Despite being unwilling, the chief steward nodded.

Upon hearing, Yi Qin released the chief steward’s collar, staggered back, and sat heavily on the ground.

"Who exactly are those people? When did the Xuantian Continent harbor such powerful figures?" He furrowed his brows, murmuring to himself.

"Family Head, the identity of those people isn’t the main issue now. The issue is that we’ve provoked them and angered them further. They’ve sent you a ssage to prepare for retaliation. You should focus on addressing this matter!" Seeing Yi Qin’s incredulous deanor, the chief steward crawled to Yi Qin, clutching his sleeve, urging.
