Riley’s POV

Asher and I made our way to the ss hall, and I could feel the weight of every stare directed our way. The other Hunters watched us with suspicion, their eyes lingering on Asher more than . He had arrived at this base alongside Koa and Nico, and now that their true nature had been exposed, everyone probably assud Asher shared their secret.

He needed to be extraordinarily careful not to reveal any hint of his wolf abilities or supernatural strength. One slip would an certain death, or worse, he would end up locked in those underground cells alongside Elena and whoever else they were holding captive.

"Tell more about what you witnessed in that office," Asher said quietly as we claid seats at an empty table.

"There’s an entire room filled with children. They’re preparing to train these kids as future wolf killers. The won caring for them are the sa ones who raised here." The words tasted bitter as I spoke them.

"There’s another person we need to contact, but not here. It’s too risky right now. We have to find an escape route first, then we can reach out to him," Asher replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Who are you talking about?" I pressed.

"Your brother. With Elena and Damien captured, he’s the one leading everything now," Asher explained.

"I didn’t see Damien in those cells."

"Trust , if they have Elena, they definitely have Damien too. They only showed you Elena because she’s your mother. They figured that would be enough to shake you up, assuming you already knew the truth."

"Nyx warned against that. She told to act like we had never t."

Asher’s brow furrowed with confusion. "Who’s Nyx?"

"My wolf, I think. She started speaking to recently. In my mind."

"Yes, that’s definitely your wolf, and she exists solely to protect your best interests. Consider her your most trusted ally, because she will never allow harm to co to you," Asher said with certainty. I absorbed this information with a slow nod.

I described the elaborate trap system they had constructed, explaining how Koa and Nico had been captured, and how they had used this intelligence to launch an attack against another pack just last night. This ant the Hunters now had a significant advantage in tracking down and targeting other packs.

Asher assured that Caleb possessed the skills to handle this crisis and was likely assembling a defensive force as we spoke.

The concept of having a brother felt surreal. Asher clarified that Caleb was my older brother, and apparently I had several younger siblings as well.

The prospect of no longer being alone filled with anticipation. Yet even with Asher’s presence beside , loneliness still gripped my heart, especially knowing the dangerous truth about my identity.

Asher caught my gaze and made certain I understood his feelings completely. He would not permit anyone to harm , no matter what.

However, my anxiety continued mounting as each hour passed on this base, knowing I carried wolf blood in my veins. I lacked Asher’s years of experience in concealing his true nature.

It would not take long for them to discover what I was. The situation was made worse by the fact that the other female recruits despised and were actively seeking any excuse to eliminate , furious about the attention Asher, Koa, and Nico had shown .

We had barely finished our morning al when we stepped outside to witness chaos unfolding around us. Personnel rushed in every direction, helicopters lifted off from the landing pads, and soldiers were corralling groups of people who appeared to have endured a brutal night.

"Are those all wolves?" I asked, watching the scene unfold.

"Yes. It appears they are finally locating the remaining packs now that Koa and Nico cannot warn them anymore," Asher answered grimly.

I stood frozen, observing as these people were forced toward the prison building, struck by how utterly human they appeared.

They bore no resemblance to the savage beasts I had been taught to expect.

Mothers wept as their children were torn from their arms, while fathers positioned themselves protectively around their wives and mates.

"Why don’t they focus their efforts on hunting vampires instead? Werewolves have never caused harm to humans. Vampires are the ones who murder humans for entertainnt," Asher said with barely controlled anger.

"Don’t vampires need to kill humans to survive?" I questioned.

"So do feed that way. Others simply enjoy the act of killing. Luna Elena had vampire allies not long ago. They died in a daylight explosion that served as the distraction when the Hunters kidnapped you," Asher revealed.
