"Go, Rezen! Kick his ass!" A loud voice echoed inside one of the gymnasiums of the Tryst Academy
On this day, the students of Rezen's batch were gathered for their monthly sparring match. Starting from the 2nd sem, the students of the Tryst Academy will have to spar with their peers from the sa class and batch
Of course, this is not the only ti that they do this kind of thing. As a Battle Mage Academy, the focus of Tryst Academy is to foster battle mages. And how can a mage beco skilled at fighting when they don't have any battle-related experience?
As such, it was not rare for the academy to have their students fight against each other. However, the monthly sparring is an 'official match'
Those who are ranked high enough will obtain rit points as rewards and their overall ranking in the academy will also increase which ans that there will be more resources that would be allocated to them
The more a student wins, the more advantages they will have, further increasing the distance between them and their peers

Hearing his friend's words, Rezen can't help but shake his head. Treen really has the skill of provoking people. If not for him being the Headmaster's boy toy, he might have been beaten to death long ago!
"This bastard..." Rezen's opponent which was none other than Quard muttered under his breath due to the humiliation. He long wanted to get his hands on Treen and make him suffer but how can he do that?
Touching and hurting Treen is the sa as provoking the Headmaster. Even if his family is not much weaker compared to the Headmaster, Quard's family still wouldn't rashly provoke her
As such, Quard can only swallow the humiliation and he even wants to make up for it by defeating Rezen but... how is that possible?
After a month, although everyone already knew that Rezen was busy working in the alchemy workshop, this hateful man was still able to raise his level and reach the 5th cycle of the Junior Rank
He was the fastest out of all the students in their batch to reach that level. In fact, even in the whole academy, his speed is fast. Of course, this is only considering if he has enough foundation to reach his current level
There were after all cases in the past where the students used forbidden potions or magic with heavy side effects to advance rapidly, many of which have cultivation speed way faster than Rezen's
When both of them are in the sa cycle, Rezen is already able to defeat him. What more now that there is a cycle between them?
Even though Quard is a very arrogant man, he still doesn't have the confidence to defeat Rezen
"Start" Mage Feather Yero said simply and a transparent barrier was erected to prevent the magic of both Rezen and Quard from hitting and affecting the other students. There were many students that are weaker than these two since they were considered the cream of the crop of their batch
As a petty man, even if Rezen already defeated and humiliated Quard previously, due to the nasty personality of this man, he wouldn't mind reminding him of his 'horror'
With a smile, Rezen spread his arms. He didn't even bother retrieving his magic wand in this battle
Almost imdiately, Quard's cheeks turned red from embarrassnt. He easily fell into Rezen's provocation and with eyes burning with anger, he took out his magic artifact
The familiar mirror appeared in everyone's eyes and as soon as Quard released it, the magic mirror imdiately sent a beam of light flying in Rezen's direction
With a casual wave of his hand, Rezen sent his own beam of sunlight to cancel out Quard's attack as if that was child's play for him
Not surprised but still angry, Quard multiplied his magic mirror until there were seven of them. The seven mirrors flew in the air in different directions but they made sure to surround Rezen
As usual, the mirrors sent beams of light and after a month, Quard also showed great improvent. The mirrors aren't as stationary as before. Instead of floating in their original position, the mirrors now knew how to nimbly move in the air to dodge after attacking in case Rezen wanted to destroy them
Without a hint of panic, Rezen clicked his fingers together and from ti to ti, the ground around him would rise to block the beams of light, causing pieces of rocks to scatter around
As he is now more experienced, Quard doesn't blindly attack Rezen with the magic mirrors. This ti, what he did was that he controlled the rock fragnts around Rezen
The fragnts were like tal that were attracted to a magnet in the form of Rezen. They were previously scattered in the ground but it was like Rezen is a blackhole that was sucking them
Quard made this move in hopes of surprising Rezen. After all, everyone knows that Quard mostly relied on his mirror attack to defeat his enemies. He seldom used other types of magic. He deliberately used a move he doesn't usually use to catch his enemy off guard
Unfortunately, Rezen has more battle experience than him, including ones that are life or death. He too has awareness of his surroundings and he already deployed a [Borg] spell to block these rock fragnts
However, Quard was relentless. If that thod fails then he will use other thods. As soon as he saw Rezen blocking his attack, Quard clicked his fingers together and the mirrors that were still nearby released bright lights
In fact, the mirrors don't simply release lights. The bright light that surrounds Rezen also contains mana and mages that are not too perceptive will find it hard to distinguish one magic fluctuation from another considering that there were magic fluctuations all around him
"Ohh, he might be arrogant but he is also quite talented" Rezen thought with a nod as he turned his back
As soon as he did that, he raised his hands that are now covered with sun-attributed mana to catch the two swords that were slashed against him
After Quard tried to blind Rezen's sight and perception for magic fluctuations, the man went behind him to attack with his swords which are also magic artifacts
These swords were made of light and perhaps, only its hilt that had a mirror on it was tangible. The blades themselves were ford with magic
"Grrr..." Quard gritted his teeth as he tried to further push his swords into Rezen, hoping to hack the man to death
Even Rezen didn't dare let this stalemate go on for too long. If he wasn't at the 5th cycle already, he wouldn't try to block those swords
The two swords were after all magic artifacts. Their sharpness and strength are far superior compared to normal swords. Such magic artifacts also offer an increase in their user's strength
Even with a cycle difference in level, Rezen is not too arrogant to disregard the advantages that magic artifacts have
"What a rich kid" Rezen thought with a sigh as he raised his foot to kick his opponent
Fortunately for Quard, his reflexes were not slow and he was still able to jump back to dodge Rezen's kick
"Stop looking at like that!" Quard barked after seeing the interest in Rezen's eyes. It was as if an expert was sparring with a newbie to give him pointers
The feeling that it gave him was extrely unpleasant and he didn't want to receive such a gaze even for just a second longer
"And why should I listen to you?" Rezen said back with a chuckle. He has never been soone who is kind to enemies. In fact, with how petty he was, if a person slapped him once, he would want to slap them at least ten tis!
"Shut up!"
Quard's anger rose again as he threw both of his swords at Rezen that imdiately dodged them. However, as soon as he did that, Quard waved his hand and the swords that Rezen dodged glowed
It was as if the mirror at the hilt of the sword was its core. More and more blades grew out from the mirror before they circled back at Rezen while rotating wildly
The sword of light suddenly turned into another type of weapon with even more lethality
"Heh... he is not even ashad to use the spell engraved at his magic artifact in this kind of battle. This is like using nepotism to win against the poor but talented kid" Rezen thought but he also took this attack seriously. It was not good to underestimate a magic artifact
