In a flock of ignorant chickens, a smart one would definitely appear and it seems like the Chief was the smart chicken
While listening to Rezen's suggestions, her mind started to formulate her own plans depending on the tribe's situation
"I'll agree with your suggestion but are you sure that they really grow fast and plentiful?" The Chief asks to make sure
In her eyes, farming potatoes is a big investnt. They could simply use the potatoes that they found as food instead of planting them
There is a risk that the seed potato wouldn't sprout or even if it sprouts, the potatoes might not grow before winter arrives
"I'm 100% confident, Chief! Potatoes are easy to grow and the harvest definitely wouldn't disappoint!" Rezen answered confidently
If it was only him, he wouldn't be this confident as there might be a difference between the potatoes of the earth realm and the Savage Beast Realm
However, he has Ivy with him. Based on Ivy's database, these potatoes grew really well. There is nothing to be worried about
"If that is the case then I'll leave the old, disabled, and children along with so abled apprentice mages on your hands. You are free to command them to create your potato farm" the Chief said
Most of the apprentice mage that can still fight without any problem has to continue hunting magic beasts
While the taste of the potatoes was okay to them, since they grew up eating roasted at, most tribesn would still prefer it
They can't just eat potatoes all the ti. As such, the mbers of the tribe that are mostly idle are finally given so work
The old and disabled always stays inside the tribe as they cannot hunt magic beasts anymore. As a result, the tribe is the one that provides food for them but because they are essentially a burden, they don't get much food
Not to ntion, when danger arrives, the old and disabled are the ones that die first as they are technically turned into human at shield
The children are in a better position as they are seen as the tribe's future and are more protected
The next generation of Junior Mages would co from them while the older ones would die in ti. This is a cycle
But now, after Rezen appeared, the old and disabled, and even the children would finally have sothing that they could do to help the tribe prosper!
——
The tribesn are very efficient in so ways. Since most of them are idle because of the lack of entertainnt in this world, they proceeded to work as soon as the Chief gave the order
The old and disabled can't fight properly anymore but most of them still have their Resonance Gem with them and with the help of their gems, they could cast magic
"Please start" Rezen said respectfully and the tribesn nodded their heads at his signal
"[Water Stream!]"
"[Water Stream!]"
"[Water Stream]"
The tribesn cast their magic and around fifteen magic circles ford at once
Because of the harsh environnt, those that cannot fight properly die easily. As such, although the tribe has around a hundred mbers, only fifteen of them are old or disabled
Their numbers have lessened significantly because of the magic beast attack before
Those that lost their loved ones mourned for a bit but it seems like death is far too common in this world. They are still saddened and pained but they recovered enough to the point that they could work
Thanks to the stream spells of fifteen apprentice mages, the trees in the vicinity of the tribe start to fall
The soil of the forest is more than enough to farm the potatoes and for now, the trees must be cut down first
Potatoes always do best in full sun. The trees are to be cut down not only to give the potatoes so space but also to ensure that the crops would receive enough sunlight
Since Rezen cannot use any magic yet, he could only watch the process, and to lessen the noise, the Chief herself has decided to help
In any case, the Chief is to stay inside the tribe in case of dangers appeared
They cannot do much about the magic fluctuations caused by the spells but for the noise, the Chief could use her magic to slow down the falling rate of the trees
A falling tree would cause a loud sound but with the Chief's intervention, the trees fall slowly and they don't cause much noise
However, the magic fluctuations from the spell still attracted quite a number of magic beasts
"Be careful! It's a Razortail Lizard!" The Chief warned causing the nerves of the tribesn to tighten
What erged from the trees was a lizard with a body that is two ters long with a tail that is even longer than its body
The tail was at least four ters long and was filled with sharp protrusions
The only fortunate thing was that it was only a beastling. The Chief could kill this lizard easily but she doesn't need to fight this lizard
The Chief is currently the only Junior Mage present in the tribe. She has to conserve her mana as, without mana, she is no different than an old woman
Using telekinetic magic to slow down the fall of the trees doesn't cost a lot of mana but casting offensive spells does
Not to ntion, this lizard is definitely not the last one that would be attracted by the magic fluctuations
The Chief has to conserve her strength in case a Junior Rank magic beast arrives
Fortunately, there were three abled magic apprentices present in the area and they moved to fight the lizard
"[Water Stream!]"
"[Waterball!]"
"[Water Stream!]"
The apprentice mages used their Resonance Gems that floated in front of them. Blue magic circles also ford in front of them that release basic stream spells and a [Waterball] spell
The stream spells targeted the lizard from the sides while the [Waterball] spell targeted its head
In return, the lizard uses its long tail to smash the spells apart. It succeeded in negating two of the three spells but one stream spell was still able to hit it
On the left side of the lizard, a gaping wound was created on one of its legs. The lizard bled from its leg as it cried out in pain
The pain enrages the lizard and it swung its long tail around, crashing the nearby trees
A single mage might find it hard to fight a magic beast at the sa level as them but if there are three of them then it was easier
Not to ntion, aside from these three abled apprentice mages, there were still the old and disabled!
While they cannot tread the forest to hunt, they still have the ability to cast spells and so of them attacked the lizard
With the cooperation between multiple apprentice mages, the Razortail Lizard soon died. Its at would be added to the tribe's food reserves
This happened not just once or twice. The more the tribesn casts their magic, the more magic beasts were attracted to the point that the Chief was forced to intervene from ti to ti
"Rezen, this wouldn't do. If we continue, we might attract even more magic beasts that we cannot deal with" the Chief said with a sigh
The plan of farming potatoes is a good one. Unfortunately, because of the harsh environnt, it was hard to proceed with the plan
Before the tribe could benefit from the potatoes, they might die first
Even Rezen could see that things have beco troubleso. This realm is really filled with magic beasts, no wonder that humans were at their rcy
However, Rezen is unwilling to give up. He needed the farm if he wants to preserve the fighting prowess of the tribe
"Chief, could we postpone the plan first? I would try to think of a situation" Rezen said and the Chief nodded her head
With a dejected look on his face, Rezen returned to his hut and along the way, tbe tribesn tried to cheer him up with their words
Inside his hut, Rezen started conversing with Ivy
The fairy although has an incomplete database still knows a lot of things. It's just that for Rezen's own benefit, Ivy wouldn't spoonfeed everything to him
Sotis, Rezen has to personally ask questions before Ivy gives the answer he wanted
In the past, Rezen would label Ivy as a troubleso fellow but he was more matured now
Being comfortable all because he has a cheat to rely on wouldn't do him any good. To achieve sothing, Rezen also has to work hard and use his brain
Not everything he wants would just magically fall down on his lap
"Ivy, what are our options to keep the magic beasts away? Do you have a recipe for a beast-repelling powder or sothing?" Rezen asks, hoping that Ivy has the recipe he needed
