Nan Zhi had put all her money into the hospital, so she could only afford to rent the cheapest house.

Qiao Xi heard from Sister Li that Nan Zhi used to be a wealthy young lady, but now her family had fallen on hard tis; she was to be pitied.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Qiao Xi looked down to see that Shen Dang was making a video call.

She answered, and from the screen, she could tell that Shen Dang was in a car.

His lazy, relaxed deanor was unmistakable.

Qiao Xi curved her lips slightly, "Did you just get off work?"

"Mm, worked a little overti."

Shen Dang lifted his handso face in a smile, his voice carrying an indescribably lazy tone, "I’m on my way to find you now."

His voice was truly seductive and had always had an impact on Qiao Xi.

"You’re looking for ? But I’m still out."

"Where did you go?"

"I had to pick up Nan Zhi because sothing ca up, and Sister Li was busy, so I took Nan Zhi ho," Qiao Xi explained.

Shen Dang imdiately said, "Where are you? I’ll co pick you up now."

Qiao Xi quickly declined, "It’s too much trouble to go back and forth. I’ll return to the hotel soon, you wait for there."

"Sister Xi, Nan Zhi has fallen asleep."

Bei Bei poked her head out and said softly.

So Qiao Xi told Shen Dang, "I’m heading back now."

When Qiao Xi returned to the hotel, she found the room pitch black; Shen Dang hadn’t arrived yet. Just as she was about to turn on the light, her wrist was suddenly grasped.

The familiar scent rushed to her nose, and Qiao Xi’s heart finally settled.

"You startled , why didn’t you turn on the light?"

Her tone of complaint was tinged with a playful pretension, making her sound coquettishly annoyed.

Shen Dang was close in front of her; Qiao Xi couldn’t see his face clearly, but she could make out his handso outline.

Definitely the scoundrel she knew.

Shen Dang cradled her hips and lifted her onto the sofa to sit.

She was slender and petite, sitting on Shen Dang’s lap, she was only slightly taller than him.

Shen Dang buried his face into the side of her neck, his laughter deep and muffled, "A surprise for you."

"What surprise?" Qiao Xi turned her head and bit him, "More like a scare,"

"Hiss..."

Shen Dang touched his neck, his dark, deep eyes staring directly at her, "Born in the year of the Dog?"

The room was unlit, only the light from outside shone through the windows, casting both faces in a soft blur.

But even in the dim light, Qiao Xi could feel the heat of his gaze.

She tilted her chin up, huffing in mock indignation, "That’s for scaring ."

Shen Dang pressed against her waist, drawing her closer, his voice aningful, "If you bite , I’ll have to punish you."

Qiao Xi pinched his earlobe, breathing into his ear, "How will you punish then?"

Shen Dang suddenly laughed.

Wasn’t this her way of challenging him?

How to punish?

Wasn’t it obvious?

Only when Qiao Xi could no longer muster any strength did she understand how severe Shen Dang’s punishnt was.

He was too harsh!

The more she provoked him, the harsher he got!

Angered, Qiao Xi turned and bit his arm again.

Shen Dang gently stroked her cheek, "Don’t bite yourself to pain."

"Humph!"

Even if he said so, she couldn’t forgive him!

"I’m sleepy."

Qiao Xi’s voice was languid and delicate, and she truly felt tired, yawning right after she finished speaking.

Her cheeks flushed, and the corners of her eyes were softly pink, like the buds of peach blossoms unfolding, vibrant and fragrant.

"I’ll carry you to the shower."

Qiao Xi humd in response.

Shen Dang laughed carelessly and lifted her up.

The next day, Qiao Xi struggled out of bed to go to the film set and saw that Shen Dang was still asleep, so she didn’t disturb him.

Watching his peaceful sleeping face, she kissed him before leaving.

Bei Bei was waiting at the door with breakfast, and her expression changed when she saw Qiao Xi, "Um, Sister Xi..."

She hesitated, her gaze shifting unnaturally.

Qiao Xi watched with a puzzled look, "What’s wrong?"

She wore a mask and a hat, her droopy eyelids slightly sleepy.

Bei Bei pointed at her neck, "There’s sothing there."

Qiao Xi: "...Is it very obvious?"

Bei Bei nodded, "It’s visible."

Qiao Xi imdiately turned back to the room.

The film crew had their uniforms, and changing clothes wouldn’t help, so Qiao Xi had no choice but to use concealer to cover the marks.

Coming out of the bathroom and seeing that Shen Dang was still asleep, she walked over and bit his chin not too gently.

She shouldn’t have kissed him; she should have bitten him dead!

Shen Dang woke up with pain.

His peach blossom eyes opened a slit, carrying a trace of bewildernt.

He touched the sore spot on his chin, "What’s wrong?"

His voice was sexy and husky.

He reached a hand to pull at Qiao Xi’s hand.

Qiao Xi stepped aside, gave him a stern look, and left the room without a word, her footsteps swift.

Shen Dang: "..."

He was dumbfounded.

What exactly had happened?

Qiao Xi closed the door, telling Bei Bei, "Let’s go."

Bei Bei replied in a daze, "Oh."

Sister Xi had looked upset just now, but now she seed happy again, what was going on?

Today’s scenes were very important.

To prevent Shen Dang from calling, Qiao Xi turned off her phone so as not to be disturbed by the outside world.

And Shen Dang, not knowing what he had done, couldn’t get through to Qiao Xi, filling him with restlessness and anxiety.

When had he offended his wife?

Unable to reach Qiao Xi, Shen Dang reached out to Xie Baola.

Chen Jiayan was at the film set again today, Xie Baola’s phone was with him, and he answered when Shen Dang called.

"Where’s Xixi?"

Shen Dang’s voice ca through first.

Chen Jiayan: "Why are you calling Baola’s phone for Xixi? Xixi is filming."

Shen Dang recognised Chen Jiayan’s voice.

Of course, he wouldn’t say he couldn’t contact Qiao Xi.

"Since you’re on set, ask her to call when she’s free."

Before Chen Jiayan could reply, Shen Dang rather indifferently called him "Brother."

Chen Jiayan: "..."

The call was cut off before he could say anything.

Boss Shen had called him ’brother,’ so how could he refuse, as her brother?

Chen Jiayan kindly did Shen Dang the favor, and Qiao Xi simply acknowledged with a light, "Got it."

Having waited in vain for Qiao Xi’s call, Shen Dang went directly to the film set in the afternoon.

He arrived just as Qiao Xi was filming, and Shen Dang stood behind a group of crew mbers watching.

His wife transford into a completely different person when acting; she was now performing with Chen Xu, which required so physical contact.

Shen Dang’s eyes narrowed slightly.

After a scene finished, Qiao Xi saw Shen Dang walking straight towards her.

His face was slightly tense.

Everyone around made way.

Qiao Xi looked at him with a teasing smile, "Why did you co?"

Shen Dang’s brow was slightly furrowed, "I couldn’t get through to your phone, and you didn’t call , so of course I had to co."

"You could have called Bei Bei."

Shen Dang smirked, "Do you think I didn’t call?"

Turns out Bei Bei had also turned off her phone.

Shen Dang knew he was in trouble.

Though he still didn’t know what he had done.

"Oh."

Qiao Xi replied nonchalantly.

She had done it on purpose.

Shen Dang ground his teeth and took her hand into his, "Wife..."
