"As soon as the call connected, Qiao Xi burst out cursing, "Shen Dang, you dog of a man, this is all your doing!"
"What’s wrong?"
Listening to her angry tone and the words "dog of a man," Shen Dang was a bit confused but also found it amusing.
For so reason, he quite liked seeing her angry.
It made her seem so lively.
But he dared not tell her that.
Qiao Xi got even more irritated hearing his voice.
Her voice rose a few decibels as she spoke.
"You have the nerve to ask what’s wrong? We’re filming the second episode in three days, and you’re ssing around with , what if the marks don’t fade by then, what do we do?"
Qiao Xi was beginning to suspect he did it on purpose.
So that was what she ant.
He had an epiphany.
"Sorry, I really didn’t an to."
Shen Dang always apologized quickly.
But he never changed.
His tone was sincere yet casual, "Xi Bao, I couldn’t help myself this morning, let take you out to dinner to apologize after I get off work, okay? I made breakfast, it’s in the warming drawer, rember to eat when you get up. The executives are waiting for to start the eting now; I’ll call you back after I’m done."
The executives in the conference room listened to Shen Dang’s deeply aningful voice laced with laughter, their eyes widening.
They had stumbled upon a juicy piece of gossip but couldn’t show it, trying their best to reduce their presence.
Should they listen to what their boss was saying?
Was it what they thought it was?
Would they end up as collateral damage for overhearing?
Hearing his sincere voice on the phone, the anger in Qiao Xi’s heart slowly dissipated, especially since he had prepared breakfast for her.
Qiao Xi was actually quite easy to please.
And the marks on her body were not impossible to cover, just a bit of a hassle.
Her intention with this call was to get him to restrain himself in the future.
Then she heard what he said afterward.
He was in a eting!
Why was he taking her call during a eting and talking about things that made people’s thoughts run wild?
Qiao Xi wished she could travel through the internet cable and beat him up!
With a "snap," Qiao Xi hung up the phone without thinking.
A blush quietly crept up her ears.
Glancing out of the corner of her eye, Qiao Xi saw a note left on the nightstand.
She picked it up and saw a line of words written in bold strokes.
[I’ve gone to work, rember to eat sothing.]
Seeing these words, the annoyance in Qiao Xi’s heart vanished in an instant.
She took a few deep breaths and sat in ditation on the bed for a few minutes before going to the bathroom to freshen up.
Shen Dang had cooked red bean glutinous rice porridge, sweet and fragrant. Qiao Xi was really hungry, she ate nearly three small bowls before stopping.
The production crew had been at her place for two days, so naturally, it was a bit ssy.
Having nothing to do today, Qiao Xi decided to clean the house.
She had just begun cleaning when her phone, which had been playing English songs, suddenly rang with an incoming call.
She picked up the phone and saw it was a call from Xie Baola.
Qiao Xi answered, "Hello, Baola, is sothing the matter?"
"Honey, are you free today? Let’s et up, I want to show you and Tutu the script I’ve written."
Qiao Xi looked at the still untidy living room, hesitated for a second, and said, "I’m free."
"Good," Xie Baola said. "I’ll call Tutu in a bit, and we can have lunch together."
"Sure, that works."
Su Tutu was also woken up by Xie Baola’s call.
"Baola?"
Her voice was hoarse as she answered, as if parched from a long thirst.
Xie Baola couldn’t help but click her tongue at her voice, "...Sister, you haven’t gotten up yet, have you?"
"I got up early in the morning, so I went back to sleep for a bit, what’s up?" Su Tutu’s voice was frail.
Finishing two days of recording was not as relaxing as Su Tutu had imagined.
She and Sheng Chao had fild a segnt that hinted at pregnancy according to the script, which was indeed quite a struggle.
As they fild, she felt as if she really was pregnant.
Sheng Chao’s gaze had changed too.
It was as if there really was a child in her belly.
His usually impassive eyes were tinged with astonishnt and amusent.
This made Su Tutu even more uncomfortable.
They had finished recording after nine o’clock the previous night, and she and Sheng Chao had gone to bed before midnight, but then Sheng Chao woke her up early in the morning for another round before going to work.
She had slept until noon.
"Young people need to take care of their health, don’t be excessive," Xie Baola said aningfully.
Su Tutu snorted indifferently, half-laughing, "Who asked Brother Chao to be so vigorous."
Xie Baola: "..."
She had been showboated.
Xie Baola got serious, "Alright, enough of that, I want to show you the script first, I’ve already told Xixi that we’ll et up later. I know you’re starving, hurry and get up, I’ll treat you to lunch, I’ll send you the address in a bit."
"Got it, I’m getting up."
Su Tutu tossed aside her phone and closed her eyes.
A few seconds later, she opened her eyes and struggled to climb out of bed.
Xie Baola had already sent the address.
While brushing her teeth, Su Tutu sent a voice ssage to Qiao Xi, "Sister, I’m out of energy, co pick up when you can."
Qiao Xi: "OK, no problem."
After picking up Su Tutu, Qiao Xi drove to the agreed location.
The Xie family lived quite a distance away, and Xie Baola hadn’t arrived yet.
She and Su Tutu sat at a window-side table.
Looking out from the clear curved floor-to-ceiling windows, one could see the surging river below.
The restaurant’s atmosphere, with the gentle music playing and its elegant yet understated luxury, seed particularly charming without being noisy.
Seeing Su Tutu’s pale face as she removed her mask, Qiao Xi furrowed her brows, "Did you not sleep well last night?"
Su Tutu sighed lightly, "It’s a long story, I haven’t slept well these days, I’m getting old."
Qiao Xi examined her for a mont, "Old you are not, but what’s up with you? You seem listless."
"It’s about the pretend pregnancy thing."
"Brother Chao didn’t agree?"
"No, of course Brother Chao respects my decisions, we’ve discussed it, and we’re not in a rush about the child thing."
Qiao Xi humd in confusion, voice rising at the end, "So if you’ve settled it, what’s bothering you?"
Resting her chin on her palm, Su Tutu looked thoughtfully at her, "Sister, speaking of which, you and Boss Shen have been officially dating for so long, with your relationship blossoming, has he ever ntioned remarriage to you?"
Qiao Xi paused, then shook her head, "No, he hasn’t."
Perhaps the right ti hadn’t co yet, and neither of them had brought up the topic.
Boss Shen could really bide his ti.
Su Tutu tsked lightly, then asked, "So, if Boss Shen suddenly said he wants to remarry you, would you agree?"
Qiao Xi thought it over seriously but couldn’t co up with an answer, "Don’t know, I can’t answer that about sothing that hasn’t happened."
Perhaps she would agree.
Perhaps not yet.
Who knows.
Why worry about sothing that hasn’t happened?
