And her walking posture seed normal, as if she was walking on a smooth floor with shoes on.
This unusual behavior puzzled him as he grabbed her little feet and asked, "Doesn’t it hurt?"
She glanced down, as if she only just realized that there was sothing under her feet.
With one hand on his arm, she lifted up her foot, reached down to pull out the piece of glass shard, making it look as effortless as peeling bubble gum stuck to her foot.
Gu Yanchen couldn’t understand why she would do such a strange thing, it was as if... she couldn’t feel any pain.
With the glass removed, she put her foot down and tugged at his hand, seemingly urging him to quickly take her to buy so treats.
Gu Yanchen hesitated for a mont, then bent down to pick her up.
Passersby on the street cast strange glances at the handso boy carrying such a dirty holess child.
She was wrapped in the coat he had given her the day before, which already got a bit soiled with mud and stained with so blood traces.

She curiously looked at the pastries in the display cabinet, her big eyes hopeful as she looked at him, "Can I have whatever I want?"
Seeing him nod, she reached out and pointed to a small cake, "I want this one..."
She wasn’t greedy, pointing out one and not asking for more.
After buying the treats, Gu Yanchen sat with her on the steps by the side of the road.
He helped her unwrap the packaging, and she couldn’t wait to reach for it.
Gu Yanchen stopped her hand, picked up a small spoon to scoop so cream, and brought it to her mouth.
The scene of a distinguished young man and a scruffy holess girl caught the attention of onlookers; yet the two of them seed to be in another world.
After finishing the cake and as the sky started to darken, Gu Yanchen stood up, and the little girl followed suit.
Her dirty hands clung tightly to his clean ones, raising her head, her eyes clear like black gems, staring at him intently, obviously reluctant to let him leave.
Gu Yanchen looked down at her, silent, then squeezed her little hand with a bit of force, as if making a decision, and asked her, "Do you want to co ho with ?"
The girl just stared at him, gripping his hand, not relaxing in the slightest.
Gu Yanchen reached out to brush her ssy hair behind her ear, wiped the cream from her face left from eating the cake, turned around, and took a step, still holding her hand, "Let’s go."
The girl walked a few steps with him before she cautiously asked, "Will you give food?"
Gu Yanchen nodded, "Mhm."
"Will you keep giving food?"
Turning to look at her, he replied easily, "Mhm."
Looking at her, he thought she might ask sothing else, but then he saw her gaze fall ahead, revealing a bright white smile...
The smile shocked Gu Yanchen; how could she still smile living in such an environnt?
After hailing a taxi, they stopped in front of the Gu Family’s three-story mansion.
Gu Yanchen looked down at the little girl, knowing that if the Gu Family saw this grubby little thing, they would certainly kick her out without a second thought.
After considering for a mont, he picked her up and walked to the back door, lifting her onto the low wall, "Lie down and don’t move."
She obediently lay on the low wall.
With a leap, Gu Yanchen agilely flipped over the wall, then picked her up again, sneaking into his own room from the back and locking the door.
Seeing her grubby appearance, he imdiately led her into the bathroom.
"Take off your clothes."
He adjusted the water temperature, turned his head to see her still standing there in a daze, staring at his every action as though she was curious about what he was fiddling with.
He had no choice but to raise the shower head and help her take off her clothes.
Only after taking them off did he realize how thin she was, her ribs were clearly visible, as if she was just skin and bones, evoking pity.
"Squat and keep your head down."
She looked at him before squatting down.
Gu Yanchen picked up the shower head with water and bent down, his actions gentle as he helped her comb her hair, which had a lot of dirt in it, looking only with compassion and not a hint of disgust.
"It’s hot."
Gu Yanchen checked the water temperature, adjusted it down a little, and asked again, "How about now?"
She didn’t speak, only played with the water on the floor, it was clear she was just a playful child.
Gu Yanchen gently held her hair, applying shampoo and washing it three tis until it was clean.
After placing her in the bathtub, she seed to enjoy being soaked, smiling with her mouth open and smacking the water with her little hands.
The water splashed onto him, he frowned and tilted his head but continued to squat down and help her wash the dirt off her body.
Once her little face was clean, he noticed that the girl was rather pretty, especially those eyes which were lovely when she smiled, although she was terribly thin...
Hearing a knock from outside, Gu Yanchen imdiately turned off the water and said to her playing in the water, "Stay still and quiet, do not talk."
She stopped her actions, her little hands resting on the edge of the bathtub, her big eyes curiously watching him, staying silent without making a sound.
Gu Yanchen dried himself and went out to open the door; it was the Gu Family’s housekeeper.
"Yan Chen, you’re back?"
Gu Yanchen stood by the doorway, nodded, and replied with a bland voice, "Is there sothing you need?"
"Nothing, just didn’t know you were back, heard so noise from the room, ca up to check." The housekeeper looked at his stained clothes, "Taking a bath?"
Suddenly a "bang" sounded from the bathroom, Gu Yanchen frowned and said, "The water is overflowing, I’ll co down once I’m done with the bath."
The housekeeper smiled, nodded, and left.
Gu Yanchen hurriedly re-locked the door and went back to the bathroom.
Most likely, the noise just now was from her pulling down the shower head, which was now lying on the floor, spraying water towards the ceiling, splashing everywhere.
Gu Yanchen frowned, braved the water spray to reach for the faucet to shut off the water, his body already soaked.
She probably knew she had done sothing wrong, sitting in the bathtub looking at him helplessly.
He didn’t scold her but instead lifted her out of the water, took a towel, and helped her dry off, only then did he realize she had quite a few wounds on her body, so already scabbed over, others still with traces of blood.
Gently wiping the wound on her forehead with a towel, he asked her again, "Does it hurt?"
She just looked at him blankly, seemingly not understanding what "pain" ant.
