Today is Su Zhen’s sixteenth birthday.

Yin Xiaojing specially squeezed out a day to organize it for her.

In the past, Su Zhen’s birthday was always at a kids restaurant, but considering that this ti Su Zhen also invited quite a few classmates, Yin Xiaojing booked a multifunctional restaurant where the youngsters could have so fun after the al.

The money for this gathering was all provided by Su Yan, so Yin Xiaojing spent lavishly, reserving the most luxurious private room. The restaurant, ga room, KTV, and cinema were all available.

Before 6 PM, Su Zhen finished school and ca over with her classmates.

Yin Xiaojing, in order to create an atmosphere, had already turned on the music in the room, where there were also a few artists who had worked with Su Zhen. They all especially liked this little girl and took ti out tonight to show their support.

Those classmates were vying to take pictures and get autographs, naturally heating up the atmosphere.

After greeting those seniors one by one, Su Zhen ran to find Yin Xiaojing: "Aunt Xiaojing, where’s my little uncle?"

"He just called and said he has one more scene; he should be able to get here by seven."

...

On the set, Su Yan was dressed in the style of the Republic of China era, with a white shirt and light grey suit vest, hair slicked back revealing his forehead, looking noble and impressive.

His scene partner was Tang Moshu; in the play, the two are non-blood-related siblings and also the male lead and second female lead.

This scene is Tang Moshu’s intense confession.

Tang Moshu, wearing a dress, hugged the departing Su Yan from behind and scread with heart-wrenching emotion: "Brother! Don’t leave, I..."

"Cut!" Director Wang ca over impatiently, "Xiao Shi, you ssed up the lines! How many tis has it been? Touch up your makeup and let’s do it again."

Su Yan also frowned, glanced at his watch, and if this delay continued, he would miss Su Zhen’s birthday.

Turning his head to look at Tang Moshu, she was smirking while looking at him, and Su Yan knew she was deliberately stalling him.

Ten minutes later the shooting resud, by which ti it was already seven o’clock.

Tang Moshu tripped when she lunged over, so they had to shoot again.

Then the expression was wrong, so shoot again.

The movents were rembered incorrectly, shoot again.

Failed to cry when she was supposed to, shoot again...

"Xiao Shi, what’s wrong with you today? This scene has been dragging on for two hours!"

Tang Moshu tried to appease with a smile: "Sorry Director, I..."

"Let’s use a body double." Tang Moshu didn’t finish her sentence, and Su Yan had already spoken up.

Director Wang looked at Su Yan and then at the standby body double.

Even he was getting impatient, not to ntion a big star like Su Yan. Su Yan usually needed only two or three takes to nail a scene, and when he didn’t, it was because soone else ssed up.

He himself was usually spot-on in one go, in terms of deanor and emotion, able to quickly imrse into the character, and his lines were morized flawlessly.

So many directors liked working with him. Not only was he popular, but he also saved ti, effortlessly mastering any role.

"Let’s give the body double a try, and we can edit the shots with the face later."

Tang Moshu stood there stiff, now that’s embarrassing. If word got out that her acting skills are inferior to a body double’s, the haters would have a field day.

She thought about speaking to the director, but the director only told her to take a break, and they had already started filming with the body double.

The body doubles were all fresh out of film school, taking their job very seriously – just two takes and it was a wrap.

Su Yan then said to the director: "I have sothing to do so I’ll take my leave, the rest doesn’t involve anymore."

"Right, right. Su Yan, you’ve worked hard. Everyone was supposed to have finished work earlier, and due to the delays, nobody has had dinner yet. You go ahead; for the rest, I’ll just capture Xiao Shi’s expressions individually." He added with a resigned mutter: "If it wasn’t for Director Wang begging , I wouldn’t have chosen her for this role. I’ve never seen an actor with so little sense."

Su Yan said nothing, turned, and went into the changing booth.

After changing back to his own clothes, he drove straight to the restaurant booked by Yin Xiaojing.

"Xiao Yan, how co you’ve only just arrived? An’an has been asking about you several tis."

"With so many people to accompany her, why ask about ?"

Yin Xiaojing glanced at him: "Why are you so jealous? It’s good for An’an to have many friends. You can’t expect her to know only you for her entire life."

Su Yan remained silent. If possible, he indeed wished she’d only know him for her entire life.

"Don’t you change outfits? Always wearing suits, not changing the style, at least change the color. Your wardrobe is either black or white; a little girl like An’an might not appreciate your mature style."

Su Yan gave her a sidelong glance, "She can hang out with you, who’s nearly forty, yet at twenty-sothing you think I’m not appreciated?"
