Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Love Rival Arrived?
“President Shen, I should get off work now.”
Shen Hanxiu glanced at her and continued to sign docunts, asking indifferently, “Do you think I can’t afford the overti pay?”
Su Zhen, who was not in the mood for howork, ran over and coaxed Shen Hanxiu by grabbing his hand, “Uncle, please let Mom get off work; I’m starving.”
Everyone knows a daughter who acts cute and seeks affection is way more adorable than a mother!
Shen Hanxiu put down the pen in his hand, lifted Su Zhen onto his lap, and asked her, “Did you finish your howork?”
Su Zhen seriously made an excuse: “I’m so hungry that my brain can’t even function.”
...
Shen Hanxiu thought for a bit and then said, “Go ask the lady outside to get you so snacks; we’ll eat prawns a bit later.”
Upon hearing about snacks, Su Zhen dashed quickly, took a glance at the woman sitting at the reception desk, then feeling a bit shy, retreated and waved towards Su Bao, “Su Bao, co with .”
Su Bao understood his sister. If he didn’t go, she would surely co back to pester him until he did. So, resigned, he stood up.
While watching the two tykes leave, Shen Hanxiu reviewed docunts and casually remarked to Su Nian, “Your daughter is much cuter than you.”
Su Nian glared at him and took the chance while no one was around to say, “President Shen, could you please make an effort to understand what ‘keeping work and personal life separate’ ans?”
Shen Hanxiu didn’t even look up at her, just said to her, “Didn’t you also use to be quite good at acting spoiled?”
Su Nian felt this man was impossible to communicate with; in his world, his words were the law; no amount of talking to him would make a difference.
Shen Hanxiu’s overti was simply because he wanted to take the kids out to play this coming weekend by clearing his schedule; working overti alone was too dull, so he decided to keep Su Nian there as well.
The two children returned with snacks. Su Zhen ca in holding a huge bunch of them, dropping so along the way, while Su Bao walked ahead empty-handed, and upon reaching Su Nian, said, “Mom, Uncle Liang has already arrived. When will you get off work?”
Shen Hanxiu’s eyes remained fixed on the docunts, but his ears perked up to listen to the mother-son duo’s conversation. A rival is here?
“He’s here?” Su Nian glanced at Shen Hanxiu sitting across from her and started to beco anxious. It wasn’t that she was impatient to see Liang Yizhou, but she felt sowhat guilty for not being there to greet him after he had hurried over from afar.
At this mont, Shen Hanxiu asked her, “Is sothing up at ho?”
Su Nian looked at him, still hoping he would be sympathetic for once, and nodded, “That’s right, President Shen. You can leave all this paperwork to your assistant; it’s not part of my accounting duties anyway. I think you should give the overti pay to soone else.” Su Nian spoke and stood up to sort out the docunts.
Shen Hanxiu had no intention of letting her et that man. Watching Su Nian about to turn and leave, he said unhurriedly, “Stop right there.”
Su Bao and Su Nian both turned to look at him, with Su Bao sporting an “If you bully my mom, I’ll make you regret it” expression.
This brat is really challenging him.
“Help tidy up the desk, and then you can leave,” Shen Hanxiu said as he stood up and headed towards Su Zhen, instructing, “Sort the docunts on the desk that I need to take with , and just put the rest away properly.”
The sensible Su Bao climbed onto a stool, “Mom, let help you.”
Shen Hanxiu turned his head to look at the mother-son pair, then picked up Su Zhen, “Don’t eat too much now, or there won’t be anyone to eat the prawns later.”
Better to face the music than to avoid, letting that man take the hint and back off.
When leaving, Shen Hanxiu still held Su Zhen, Su Nian carried his docunts in one hand and held Su Bao with the other. To outsiders, all they could feel was envy. This uncle was just too good to his niece and her family.
