Chapter 232: Chapter 170: We Are Here to Get a Divorce Today

Standing beside the bed, Yang Zichen’s face suddenly turned cold.

After Wei Lan mumbled to herself, as if feeling sothing amiss even in her sleep, she abruptly opened her eyes, startled by the unfamiliar face standing beside the bed.

She stared at Yang Zichen’s face for two seconds before regaining her senses: “Special Assistant Yang…”

Hearing her voice, the irritation in his heart dissipated a lot, “The company has approved your leave. If you’re still sleepy, go back to sleep.”

It took Wei Lan a few seconds to figure out the situation and when she looked up at the clock on the wall, it was already ten o’clock.

She still needed to go with Jing Zan to handle the divorce procedures!

Wei Lan said as she threw off the blanket: “Special Assistant Yang, go ahead with your work. I will leave in a bit and make sure to lock the door.”

Yang Zichen watched her loosely worn bathrobe, swallowed hard, but still spoke in a very formal tone: “I’m off today.”

“Off?” Wei Lan murmured, then realized she was in a bathrobe and hurriedly pinched the collar, feeling extrely embarrassed, “I’ll… go change my clothes first.”

Yang Zichen looked away, “Hmm, there’s a set in the bathroom, you can wear that.” saying that, he walked towards the door, “Co down for breakfast after you’ve changed.”

Wei Lan realized she was wearing pajamas the night before only after entering the bathroom.

Looking at the paper bag on the counter, the clothes must be newly bought, right? Or maybe they belong to Special Assistant Yang’s girlfriend? No, she seed not to have seen him with a girlfriend.

Special Assistant Yang gave her the impression of soone deeply wounded by love, afraid to love again, so these clothes must be from his ex-girlfriend, right?

Wei Lan pulled out the clothes and realized she had overthought it; the clothing still had its tags, clearly new.

From intimate wear to a warm cotton-padded jacket, everything was well-prepared.

No wonder Shen Hanxiu takes him everywhere, such a ticulous person.

After changing and looking in the mirror, the clothes surprisingly fit well, except the [undergarnt] size was a bit off, but she made do.

If he had bought sothing that fit her perfectly, she might have found it even creepier.

After changing, she took a glance at the wall clock.

Her first marriage ca so unexpectedly, ended so abruptly; now, thinking about it, it all seed ridiculous.

She took a deep breath, straightened her clothes, and turned to leave the room.

Downstairs, Yang Zichen was sitting by the coffee table in the living room, reading a newspaper. Wei Lan sneaked a peek and had to admit that Special Assistant Yang was quite good-looking, with no bad angles to be found, handso from every perspective—just that she didn’t dare to fantasize anymore. Jing Zan was a lesson to her.

“Special Assistant Yang, I’m heading out…”

Yang Zichen took off his glasses from his nose, put down the newspaper: “Where to? I’ll give you a ride, it’s not easy to hail a cab here.”

Wei Lan thought about it, not being able to get a cab was one thing, but more importantly, she was out of money, so she had to accept: “Then, thank you Special Assistant Yang.”

“Co and have so breakfast first.”

Wei Lan was feeling anxious, but her stomach was indeed hungry, so she didn’t hold back.

She wasn’t the most elegant eater to begin with, and her hunger made her even more careless.

She bit a sandwich in half, but then noticed Yang Zichen across from her slowly sipping his milk. Feeling too rash in front of a man, Wei Lan, as a woman, had to slow down her chewing.

Silence made the atmosphere awkward. After finishing her sandwich and sipping so milk, Wei Lan finally broke the silence: “Special Assistant Yang, did you make all this?”

Yang Zichen paused for half a second before nodding, softly: “Hmm.”

Wei Lan generously praised: “It’s really delicious! I can’t cook at all.”

Yang Zichen felt extrely pleased internally, but his expression remained impassive, as if he was used to being praised and no longer found flattering words interesting.

Seeing that he didn’t seem keen on talking, Wei Lan didn’t know what to say either, awkwardly sipping her milk, waiting for him to finish.

“By the way.” He suddenly spoke, Wei Lan looked up, puzzled: “What’s the matter?”

Yang Zichen fell silent before saying: “Once we’re out of the company, you don’t have to call ‘Special Assistant Yang’, call … my friends all call Ah Chen.”

In truth, no one called him that. The nickna Ah Chen sounded a bit cheesy even to himself, but he liked hearing her call him that.

Unable to switch imdiately, Wei Lan couldn’t naturally say it and only uttered “Oh” to show she heard him.

Silence followed again.

Five minutes later, he gracefully picked up a napkin, wiped his mouth, stood up, and Wei Lan thought they were leaving, quickly standing to follow, only to find him heading straight for the bathroom.

Standing in the living room, she breathed a sigh of relief, feeling suppressed in Special Assistant Yang’s company, much like being with a stern, taciturn headteacher in school.
