In the hospital room that Ethan had been admitted in, everyone had gathered, including Dave. They were all going to test Ethan’s mory to see if he was going to be able to rember the people he’d forgotten.
"So Mr Anderson..." Dave began but Ethan cut him short.
"Call Ethan," said Ethan. Hearing people call him Mr Anderson made him feel old.
"Of course, Ethan," Dave complied before he gestured towards the family mbers that were waiting for the test to begin. "According to the test that we had conducted on your brain, it’s been proven that you have selective amnesia, but to be sure of that, we are going to be taking a physical test."
Ethan glanced at the doctor before tearing his eyes away from him to stare at his family mbers.
"What do I have to do?" Ethan asked. Since he woke up, Felix had taken it upon himself to see to it that he never leaves the hospital so he had not been granted any freedom since he woke up because he still needed a lot of recovery ti. If this test was going to prove that he was okay and could be discharged, then he was willing to take it and quickly leave that place and go look for Erika.
"Well, now that we know that you have selective amnesia, the test is going to be quite simple," Dave stated. "All you have to do is point at anyone, call out their na and ntion what relationship you have with that person," he explained.
Ethan nodded in understanding and began. He started by pointing at his mother. "Cynthia Anderson, my mother," he said before moving his finger to Mr Anderson. He tried to recall the face but he couldn’t so he simply moved his finger to soone else. "Felix Walters, my friend," he added. "Michael Walters, also my friend."
When he was done, he tried again to rember the faces of the remaining people whose nas he couldn’t ntion. Suddenly, he felt the usual headache that always attacked if he tried to do so. Hearing him groan in pain, his mother quickly rushed to his side.
"Don’t try so hard, you are only going to worsen your state," she said between sobs.
Dave imdiately prescribed a painkiller for Ethan and the latter didn’t waste any ti in gulping it down. Whenever he would get those headaches, it would always seem as if he couldn’t rember the people he managed to rember.
"We all can see that Ethan couldn’t rember Mr. and Mrs. Walters, Mr. Anderson, Miss Cassandra, Miss Monica, and Miss Jasmine," Dave listed the nas one after the other before he continued, "A selective amnesia is not permanent but it may still take a lot more ti for the patient to rember all that he had forgotten. I would advise Ethan to continue taking his dications, hopefully with ti, he will be able to recover," the doctor added and excused himself.
Everyone had been sad due to Ethan’s amnesia but was glad since he didn’t forget about Erika.
After the doctor had left, so of the mbers of the family left as well to carry on with their business with the hope that Ethan would recover quickly.
Suddenly, Felix’s phone rang and it attracted everyone’s attention. Felix first frowned when he saw that the caller was from the police station but still excused himself before he accepted the call.
Once he heard the good news, he quickly rushed back inside the room and announced,
"Erika was able to contact the police!"
Everyone imdiately paused their movents and wore a shocked expression on each of their faces but no one was more shocked than Ethan.
Wishing he could just get up from the bed and not feel any headache, Ethan could only sit still and wait for Felix to say more.
"The police station just called and they said that a woman nad Erika had called them and said she was kidnapped by Adrian. She said she was locked inside a mansion surrounded by tall fences and he also beats her up," Felix added, as if he read Ethan’s mind.
As soon as Ethan heard that Adrian beats Erika up, he forgot all about his head injury and stepped down from the bed, ready to leave the room to look for Erika.
"Where in the world are you going to?" Felix questioned him.
"That bastard dared to lay his filthy hands on my Erika and you are trying to stop ? I need to break those hands of his," Ethan responded through gritted teeth as he tried to pass Felix who was blocking his path. "Move away," he ordered.
"Will you just stay here and focus more on recovering? If you and Adrian were to get into a fight, in your state, he would surely win and you would lose. I’m sure you wouldn’t want that so stay here and leave everything to ," Felix explained before he scrolled on his phone to make another phone call.
"Who are you calling?" Ethan asked him.
"Since Erika told the police that she was looking inside a mansion with tall fences, we are going to have to look for mansions with tall fences. She has already given us a clue and we have to plan carefully from here onwards on how we are going to get her back from Adrain," said Felix, and without wasting any more ti, he called his n.
After he was done giving his instructions, he cut the call and faced Ethan who was holding up a frown on his face. He did feel pity for the young man. After being shot in the head by trying to protect his sister, he fell into a coma and woke up after a week but was diagnosed with amnesia.
Even in his state, he didn’t care about himself and only wanted to be sure that Erika was safe, away from Adrian but things were harder than they thought it would be. With their connections, they should be able to find Erika by now but for so reason, they couldn’t trace either her or Adrian.
