Capítulo 1736: Chapter 1736: Divorced in the Morning, Remarried in the Afternoon (Part 2)

When Ye Xiandong arrived, Qiao Qiao was sitting by the window, watching the bustling streets outside. Her expression was calm and serene, with no trace of ti marring her face—she was still beautiful.

His heart accelerated, then returned to silence. He knew Qiao Qiao had called him to discuss divorce.

After sorting through his complex thoughts, he took a seat opposite Qiao Qiao: “Work at the company has been busy, so I ca a bit late. Sorry.”

“It’s okay, I have plenty of free ti anyway,” Qiao Qiao said, pouring Ye Xiandong a cup of tea.

Qiao Qiao’s poised deanor caught Ye Xiandong’s attention. She smiled gently, “Why are you looking at like that?”

“You seem more cheerful and confident,” Ye Xiandong replied, sipping the tea. Perhaps because she poured it, it even tasted different.

Without agreeing or disagreeing, Qiao Qiao brought up the topic: “Do you have so ti today? I want to handle our divorce proceedings.”

After all this ti, Ye Xiandong should have realized that their marriage had no reason to continue.

“Xiaoqiao, can you give another chance?” Ye Xiandong asked after a mont of silence.

He used to think he must keep her by his side forever. But the law didn’t allow it, nor would Qiao Qiao agree.

“There’s nothing we can do. Our issues have long since passed, and our marriage should have ended long ago,” Qiao Qiao replied decisively, “This ti, I want us to complete the divorce procedures in the shortest ti possible.”

Had it not been for her repeated compromises and indecision, their prolonged marriage wouldn’t have ended up like this.

Ye Xiandong remained silent for a long ti before finally nodding, “Let’s go. We’ll get the divorce procedures done now.”

She no longer had any feelings for him, and he owed her the freedom of a single status. What he couldn’t understand before, he now did—the forced marriage was never sweet.

In the end, Ye Xiandong and Qiao Qiao went to the Civil Affairs Bureau, calmly signing the divorce papers. Given their lengthy separation of two years, the divorce process was swift.

“Ye Xiandong, take care,” Qiao Qiao said as she hailed a taxi.

Watching her back, Ye Xiandong hurried a few steps forward, “Xiaoqiao, I’m sorry for disappointing you.”

He had once had the chance to spend a lifeti with her, to be a harmonious couple. In that scenario, Qiao Qiao would have been the best wife in the world. It was he who failed to cherish her, his nonchalance and recklessness that pushed her away.

Their marriage brought her nothing but sha and hurt. He knew she had long moved out of his world, but he just hadn’t wanted to admit it.

“What’s past is past, let’s cherish our own ways,” Qiao Qiao casually smiled and got into the taxi.

As she watched Ye Xiandong’s figure recede in the rearview mirror, her mood remained calm. It was hard to believe she had once loved this man so deeply, yet now she couldn’t rember how it felt back then to love Ye Xiandong.

When she’d first married Ye Xiandong, she was too excited to know what to do. Unfortunately, throughout their entire honeymoon, Ye Xiandong was out enjoying himself, leaving her alone in an empty house for three years.

Even the deepest feelings can’t withstand endless consumption, so perhaps she wasn’t soone who loved for a long ti.

When she divorced Ye Xiandong, she wasn’t particularly happy or unhappy. It was rely the completion of an unfinished task, that simple.
