“She’s only four years old, are you seriously jealous of such a little kid?” Su Hongxing repeated her old refrain.
Ye Qilan was exceptionally jealous by nature, a trait set in stone. Be it a man or a woman, a child or an elder, he could always find sothing to feel jealous about. A rare talent, really.
“Do you think her behavior looks anything like a child’s?” Ye Qilan held a mix of love and frustration toward Little Pudding.
When this kid was being cute and sweet, she was like a little angel. But when she wasn’t, she’d compete with him for attention—just plain rebellious!
“Does Daddy think his behavior looks anything like a dad’s?” Little Pudding mimicked his tone and fired back.
Ye Qilan felt a pang in his chest. “Honey, did you hear what this kid just said?”
Su Hongxing couldn’t hold back her laughter and gently poked Little Pudding’s round cheek. “What Little Pudding said seems kind of true though.”
Ye Qilan looked helplessly at Su Hongxing. “You’re teaming up against now, too?”
This woman, truly, was siding with their daughter to gang up on him. Totally playing favorites.
Still, there was one thing that comforted him—Su Hongxing didn’t seem to care about Xiao Ji. Logically speaking, she was the kind of woman who valued relationships and loyalty. Xiao Ji was like another version of Ye Qilan; shouldn’t she be more concerned about him?
Or could it be that, in her heart, he’s the only one she’s ever cared about?
Thinking of this possibility, Ye Qilan secretly rejoiced. If that’s the case, then Xiao Ji would never pose a threat to him.
It was much later when Su Hongxing finally rembered that she’d left Xiao Ji stranded outside the door.

“What are you thinking about?” Ye Qilan’s voice interrupted Su Hongxing’s train of thought.
She turned her head to look at him and smiled lightly while shaking her head. “I’ll stay and keep Little Pudding company. You take our son to bed tonight.”
“No problem. But it’s still early, so I’ll stay a bit longer with you and our daughter.” Of course, Ye Qilan had soone he wanted to guard against—Xiao Ji.
And so, Ye Qilan stayed until ten o’clock before finally returning to his own room. Before leaving, he made a point to lock the door to Su Hongxing’s bedroom from the outside. Since Qiao Qiao wasn’t around, and with Xiao Ji being the ticking ti bomb in Qingmu Garden, he needed to be extra cautious.
Back in his room, Ye Qilan couldn’t fall asleep. He tossed and turned, unable to rest, too worried about Su Hongxing.
In the end, he called Age and had him arrange for soone to keep a close eye on Xiao Ji in secret. He also wanted soone to protect Su Hongxing.
If Xiao Ji got close to Su Hongxing, he was to be inford imdiately.
After taking care of this matter, he was finally able to sleep in peace.
But Xiao Ji wasn’t soone to be trifled with. It didn’t take long before he realized he was being watched. The next evening, he confronted Su Hongxing and Ye Qilan, laying his cards on the table: “Ding Ye, you have no right to have under surveillance. This is my ho. You’re just an outsider. The only reason you’re staying in Qingmu Garden is because of Amou’s goodwill. Don’t push your luck!”
“Qingmu Garden is your ho? That’s the funniest joke I’ve ever heard. If you think this is your ho, why don’t you call the police and see if you can kick out?” Ye Qilan’s lips curved into a faint smirk. He stared at Xiao Ji, his expression both mocking and amused.
This was like a cornered dog biting back—a laughable act. But for Xiao Ji to say sothing so absurd was truly ridiculous.
Not to ntion, the owner of Qingmu Garden was Su Hongxing. What did it have to do with Xiao Ji?
