The cannibal swiftly departed from the scene of the cri as though nothing had happened,
A few minutes later, Kevin's fingers twitched. His will to survive and uncover the truth behind his mother's disappearance was the only thing keeping him alive. A distinct sound rang in Kevin's ear.
[Ding!! The Goddess of Happiness understands your sorrow.]
The soothing voice of a young female echoed in his mind.
'The Goddess of Happiness?' Kevin found that na vaguely familiar, but he couldn't figure out where he had heard it from.
[The criteria for unlocking the system have been fulfilled.]
[System will now synchronize with Host.]
[Initiating Synchronization....]
[Synchronization Complete.]
[You have been given a final chance to find out the truth about your mother.]
'A final chance?' He weakly pondered.
[Yes! All wounds sustained will now be healed.]
[mories Of Your Previous life will be returned as well.]
The blood and wounds around Kevin's body vanished and healed within seconds. It was almost as though ti had been reversed back to the period before he t the cannibal.
Even though he was now healed, Kevin still lay asleep in the middle of the road. However, ti was of the essence.
[Yo! It's ti to wake up. Or do you want to sleep until sunrise and after you get roasted on the road?]
"Ugh, what happened?" Kevin groaned as he gently raised himself to a seating position.
He slowly began to inspect his body only to find out that all his wounds had been healed, causing his eyes to widen in disbelief. "Uh? I'm alive?"
He had been certain that those injuries would kill him.
[Yep. You are alive and breathing,]
"What? A voice? In my head?" He finally acknowledged the presence of the system in his mind.
[You'll get used to it, love. This is your new normal from now on.]
"Ugh, my head hurts," He groaned even louder.
[Yeah, it's gonna hurt for a while. Your mories from your previous world are gradually resurfacing. Besides, you just survived a Cannibal attack.]
When the system suddenly ntioned the cannibal, Kevin surveyed his surroundings to find out if it was nearby, but it wasn't.
"Where did it go?"
[It vanished right after it confird that you wouldn't make it. You're lucky to be alive.]
"But why am I alive?"
[That's because the goddess wills it. You're an interesting specin to her and she has gifted you to as a host so that I can guide and aid you in seeking revenge. You do want that don't you?]
Kevin nodded instantly. "Yes, I do. Thank you. But what do I call you?"
[Ew, don't thank . I haven't fulfilled my duties yet. And soone as weak as you aren't worthy of giving a na,]
"Huh?!" Kevin was dumbfounded. 'What the hell is going on? Did I say sothing wrong? Why is she so rude to ?'
[I am known as the Evil Stepson System. The goddess created and nad for the sole purpose of helping you to seek revenge. In other words, I am to transform you into the ultimate bad guy].
[However, I didn't expect to et such a weak human. Aside from your physique, your strength and agility are average and not befitting of soone who is referred to as my host,]
"Parasite," Kevin muttered. He had grown tired of the system's rudeness.
It might have evil in its na but that didn't an that it could be rude to him.
[Huh?]
"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" An evil grin appeared on his face. The system was the one flabbergasted this ti around.
"You reside in my head and you call your host."
"This ans you need to survive and that makes you a parasite 'cause I ain't your damn Uber." He retorted.
"You know what? I'm going to call you parasite from now on."
[You wouldn't dare,]
"I just did and I would do it a thousand tis over."
[You little!!...] She sighed, trying to cool her temper. [Fine, you can call whatever you want. Just don't call that,]
"I don't recall seeking your permission."
"You live in my head, you live by my rules."
[Yeah right.]
"That reminds . Why is the goddess interested in ?"
Now that Kevin had regained his previous life's mories, he couldn't help but wonder why the goddess had saved him not just once, but twice.
[I..... Um, do not know.]
"You don't know or you won't tell ?"
[I do not know.]
Kevin could sense the parasite's sincerity. It almost felt like she could tell him anything as long as she knew about it.
Not wanting to probe any further, Kevin shifted the topic towards his primary concern.
"So, how can you assist in uncovering the truth about my mother?"
[I am equipped with levels, evil points, experience points, missions, a shop, your attributes, and a few other features.]
[Experience points aid in levelling up and are obtained by engaging in evil deeds.]
[Every level-up rewards you with ten attribute points.]
[Missions are assigned at random and could be given as a main quest or a side quest.]
[The rewards of these quests range from evil points, weapons, consumables, and skills. These rewards are only available once they have been unlocked and purchased for a price.]
"So evil points are the currency used to buy skills and equipnt from the shop? The experience points help in leveling up and the attribute points help in increasing my attributes?"
[Yes, that is correct].
"But what about the evil points? What do I need to do to earn those?"
[Evil points are earned during ongoing missions. It can be acquired by deceiving people to obtain clues about your investigation or by humping your first woman while her spouse/ lover watches in despair. All these actions will be rewarded with evil points according to the magnitude of your deeds.]
Kevin nodded in understanding. Finding clues about his mom's disappearance with the system's help was a nice cheat and would help to move things along faster.
Aside from this, he would also get to have fun with his first woman while her husband... Wait what?
"You an I can also gain evil points by doing lustful deeds?"
