I don't know if I would believe her but my heart only belongs to her. Seeing her again made realize that I don't want to be with another woman, but her.

It was just a theory, I don't know if she's right but maybe Catherine already knew that she wouldn't live long so she lied to , telling everyone that she was sleeping again with other n.
