Nick was tempted to smack Mijko the next ti he saw her. There was no need to blush unless she was asking for sothing indecent.
All she had wanted was sausage. It was his sausage, but not his sausage. He shook her head and headed inside with a scowl.
He didn’t have many left. If she wanted one, she would have to co to the next sausage party.
Nick paused. He needed Sosora to invite everyone to the next sausage party, but she was still nowhere to be seen. He thought that she would be the first, well, second, to visit him after the ban on doing that was lifted.
But even after several hours had passed since Mijko took her leave, Sosora was still nowhere to be seen.
Nick had no way of knowing that while things had a good ending this ti, Sosora was still in trouble with her tribe. She hadn’t received a punishnt for anything from the tribal eting. But she had still done sothing foolish that put her and the tribe at risk.
She didn’t get much of a punishnt, at least not in the eyes of others or the ones doling it out.
But to Sosora, the scolding that never seed to end was the worst punishnt she could imagine. The voices of the elders who took turns scolding her grated against her ears and made them bleed.
Anyti she tried to cover her ears or fall asleep, they would poke her with a stick. It was inhumane.
By the ti each elder had taken a turn telling her how irresponsible and reckless she was, they needed a water break. Sosora took that opportunity to sneak out and fly straight to the center of the forest to share the good news with Nick.
She was only a little surprised to see that she wasn’t the first to arrive. The elders had held her up for several hours, after all.
But she was a little surprised to see a puddle of blue fur next to Nick with its head on his lap.
Nick looked up when he noticed Sosora coming. He waved with the hand that wasn’t combing through Kai’s fur. The bear cub had missed it during the ti he wasn’t allowed to visit Nick, and it was the first thing he asked for as soon as he arrived.
"So sorry, Nick! A couple of things happened! I didn’t an to leave you waiting without telling you!" Sosora apologized the first thing she did as soon as she landed on his lawn. She had promised Nick that she would return after a couple of days. She had returned after more than a week.
She wasn’t sure if Nick had been worried about her, but he might have been upset about her not fulfilling her promise.
"It’s fine, it’s fine," He said, waving off the drama of Sosora’s apology.
"I heard a little about it from Mijko. It wasn’t your fault."
Sosora nodded in relief before tilting her head.
"Mijko?"
"A scout...? From one of the tribes watching during the ban to visit ."
"Did she look like Nuir or not?"
"A little, but if I had to say, I guess not?"
"From the Gezercher tribe, then. They’re sneaky. How much did she tell you?"
"Oh wait, Nuir’s tribe, who first told sothing was up when I made to leave this place. Mijko told a little more just now when the ban was lifted. But she didn’t say more than how no one had been allowed to visit while the tribes discussed what to do, and how I was deed interesting and a source of new things. That’s why they agreed not to do anything about ."
Sosora nodded.
"Yeah. Muhso, a warrior from the Ursa tribe, convinced everyone with sausage and a good speech. You should have seen it. It almost moved to tears."
Nick’s eyes widened.
"I guess it wasn’t just Kai’s family who liked it."
Sosora shook her head.
"Nope. You’re on the way to charming half the forest with sausage. But the Ursa tribe seed to like it the most. I doubt you need to worry about any other tribes coming to visit you like Kai here does." Sosoa reached out to stroke Kai’s head like Nick was doing. She couldn’t resist. It looked so soft and fluffy.
Kai growled. Sosora had to pull back her hand with a sullen expression.
Nick looked at her for a mont.
"So, what happened?" He asked. He, as an Outsider, would be fine for the mont. People had decided that his sausages made it fine for him to stay in the forest, despite the disruption he might cause and the threat he posed by staying in the most dangerous part of Tiabe.
But he could tell that the discussion about him wasn’t everything that had happened. The timing was off.
How co such an important discussion happened right as Sosora was supposed to be going around talking to the different tribes about his presence in the forest? Sohow, her making those rounds had to have been related. Maybe they were even the catalyst.
Sosora sighed.
She kind of didn’t want to drag Nick into her troubles. But it felt like he would see right through her if she lied. Besides, the troubles were over, weren’t they? It should be fine to tell Nick about it. She just had to minimize the degree of severity.
So, Sosora told him briefly about how she had interrupted a fight between a few kids in one tribe. That tribe didn’t take her interference well since it dredged up bad mories of the past of her tribe doing similar things.
The discussion escalated since she didn’t see anything wrong with her actions, while the other tribe wanted revenge and strict punishnt. It escalated a little more until the side supporting her won. Coincidentally, that side was also in favor of Nick staying in the forest with a favorable impression.
She didn’t ntion the part about her negotiation with Monkey. It was irrelevant to the story.
Nick could tell that she had skipped a lot since there was a big gap in the story, but he didn’t pry.
"Alright. Sounds like everything had a good ending, then. Let’s celebrate!" Nick said excitedly.
"Celebrate?" Sosora tilted her head.
"Sausage party!" Nick shouted.
"Wooo!" Kai chid in with a happy howl.
