Because she was too weary and exhausted, Dong Xin Yan couldn’t quite make out the words. When she tried to discern them, all she knew was that Gu Ningyi had hung up the phone. Footsteps approached, then the blanket was lifted, the mattress sank, and a warm body slipped in. In the next second, she was enveloped by that solid arm and pulled into a familiar embrace.
Dong Xin Yan unconsciously snuggled against Gu Ningyi’s chest, the corners of her lips slightly lifted, as she nestled against him and drifted into a deep sleep.
When she regained consciousness, the sky was already bright. Even though the thick blackout curtains were drawn in the room, a few rays of light still seeped in through the gaps.
Her long, curly eyelashes quivered slightly as Dong Xin Yan’s eyelids gradually lifted open.
Her pitch-black pupils slowly moved, surveying everything in the room. Then, her dark eyes fixed on the handso face that was just inches away from her.
She blinked her big eyes, her eyelashes brushing against his cheek like a brush.
Who would have thought that this room, this man, was once the cage she most desperately wanted to escape from? In her life, she wished to stay as far away from him as possible.
Yet now, they were so in love, so much so that they wished to be together forever, never to part again.
Thinking about how they competed against each other in their youth, how their love budded in their teenage years, and how they chased each other for years—fortunately, they never let go of each other.
Dong Xin Yan couldn’t help but soften at the thought.
Her slender fingers traced over Gu Ningyi’s brow, following the contours of his eyes, nose, and mouth, one by one outlining them. Her heart felt sweet; this handso man was the one she loved.
"Spying on , hmm?" The man had woken up at so point, his hoarse voice rasping in her ear.
Dong Xin Yan looked up and t those deep, dark eyes. She froze for a mont, and two shades of thin red spread over her cheeks, caught in the act.
But soon, Dong Xin Yan raised her chin righteously, "Peeking? He’s my man; I can look if I want to! What? Are you saying I can’t look?"
"You can. Look however you like; you can even look a bit more... thoroughly."
As Gu Ningyi spoke, he deftly shrugged off his robe, then crooked a long finger at Dong Xin Yan, his voice raspy and alluring, "Co here."
Dong Xin Yan gulped hard and shook her head decisively, "No, no, I don’t need to look that thoroughly...."
As she spoke, her body quietly inched toward the other side of the bed.
Gu Ningyi looked at her with a half-smile, fixedly for a few seconds, then parted his thin lips lightly, "Too late, Dong Xin Yan. You lit the fire; now you have to put it out."
With that, he extended his long arm and caught the woman who was quietly trying to escape, flipping over and pressing her down. He grasped her wrists and pinned them above her head, his thin lips covering hers, kissing her deeply.
Gentle kisses trailed from her lips, down her neck, and over every corner of her body. It was both forceful and tender, making Dong Xin Yan involuntarily succumb, panting and moaning softly with his movents.
Every breath, every soft moan from Dong Xin Yan, fanned the flas within Gu Ningyi, gathering intensely sowhere below. When he wanted to enter her body, Dong Xin Yan’s hand suddenly climbed onto his shoulder, pushing him slightly.
He paused his movents, and then heard Dong Xin Yan’s gentle, watery voice, "Wait, we haven’t used that..."
