After a pause, the depths of Gu Ningyi’s eyes slightly clouded with a vague yearning, "A lifeti together."
A lifeti.
Dong Xin Yan’s heart felt like sothing gently grazed it, rippling with waves.
Those three words, how beautiful they are!
Once, when she stayed by his side, she never dared to even think about it; her only expectation was to spend just a bit more ti with him.
Yet, in his heart, had he already been contemplating a lifeti together?
If... if at that ti she had been a bit braver, and told him the truth in ti, could they really have walked hand in hand for a lifeti, instead of being separated by so many years and so many events and people?
Sweetness and bitterness welled up in sync, and Dong Xin Yan couldn’t help but lower her eyelids, avoiding Gu Ningyi’s gaze, then she tried hard to curve her lips into a smile, saying, "Let’s go, over there."
As she spoke, she pulled Gu Ningyi along as they started walking, as if fearful he’d see through her current thoughts.
This place held mories belonging exclusively to the two of them, every spot they passed as if vividly replaying their past joys, angers, sorrows, and happiness.
They both forgot all worries and realities, together returning to their mories, discussing the past, no matter if it was happy, angry, or unpleasant, it all turned into sweet little bits.
Until they walked to the lakeside behind the villa.
Dong Xin Yan’s steps involuntarily stopped, as she looked at the presently calm lake surface, a scene she least wanted to recall uncontrollably surfaced in her mind as one of her most painful mories.
re standing there brought chills running down her spine.
Gu Ningyi noticed the change in her emotions, his eyebrows furrowed slightly, looking down at her with a gentle voice, "Xinyan, what’s wrong?"
Dong Xin Yan’s face turned serious, her cheeks still seed to bear a hint of pallor, her feet unconsciously stepped back, then she spoke softly, "Gu Ningyi, do you rember? I once asked to et you here."
"Yes, I rember, you said there was sothing important you needed to tell , but at that ti, I ca, and you weren’t there..."
"I wasn’t not there, I was always waiting for you."
Dong Xin Yan directly interrupted Gu Ningyi, her eyes unwittingly filled with a bit of panic, the hand interlinked with Gu Ningyi’s tightened. "But the person I waited for wasn’t you, it was Zhou Yalin."
"Zhou Yalin?"
"Yes, I asked to see you because I wanted to tell you the truth, no more deceit, but Zhou Yalin saw through my intentions, so she impersonated you to et . In the end... we had a confrontation, and she pushed into the lake."
Even as she rely recounted it, Dong Xin Yan’s body couldn’t stop trembling; she could never forget Zhou Yalin’s expression at that ti, vicious and bloodthirsty like a demon.
Falling into the water, Dong Xin Yan had thought it was just an accident; she never expected it was Zhou Yalin’s doing.
No wonder... he couldn’t find any detailed circumstances at the ti; presumably, it was covered up. But at that ti, Zhou Yalin didn’t seem to have enough power to hide the truth singlehandedly.
The things he couldn’t find out, either were helped by her family, the Zhou Family? Or was there another secret?
"She also told so things... I think, I lost that part of my mory, because I was afraid, so I subconsciously avoided it?"
She tried hard to make it sound nonchalant, but Gu Ningyi saw the deep-seated fear she was hiding, and his heart was suddenly struck hard, aching intensely.
