The mont she walked in, she had already seen Lady Wei.
Such a dignified and noble woman, in the crowd, was like the sun, how could she not catch people’s eyes?
She stared fixedly at her, almost greedily, and her hand holding Gu Ningyi’s arm unconsciously tightened.
Gu Ningyi noticed and looked at her, seeing her staring blankly in one direction, followed her gaze, and there stood Lady Wei.
He raised his eyebrow slightly and said softly, "Xin Yan, do you know Lady Wei?"
"Ah?"
Dong Xin Yan was brought back to consciousness by Gu Ningyi’s voice, reflexively wanting to nod, but at the mont of nodding, she hurriedly shook her head instead, then lowered her eyes, hiding the emotions in them, and softly replied, "No, I don’t know her, it’s just that she’s my idol."
Idol?
Gu Ningyi was surprised; it was the first ti he’d learned that Dong Xin Yan had an idol.
He smiled, "Do you want to et your idol?"
Dong Xin Yan suddenly looked up, her face full of surprise, "Are you going to introduce ?"
"As long as you want to."
Gu Ningyi gazed at her, his dark eyes full of barely concealed tenderness and affection, but Dong Xin Yan, imrsed in her enormous surprise, saw none of it.
Gu Ningyi took two glasses of champagne from a waiter, handed one to her, and then, wrapping his arm around her waist, walked slowly towards Lady Wei.
Lady Wei was talking to a middle-aged man and smiled slightly when she saw Gu Ningyi approaching, raising her glass towards him and softly saying, "Mr. Gu, long ti no see."
Gu Ningyi also smiled, raised his champagne, and clinked glasses with Lady Wei, his voice low and pleasant, "Lady Wei, long ti no see, thank you for attending tonight."
"You’re too polite, Mr. Gu. I wouldn’t miss your invitation."
As Lady Wei spoke, her dark eyes turned to Dong Xin Yan, scanned her face with a hint of surprise, although it was fleeting, then smiled and said, "And this is?"
As Lady Wei looked at Dong Xin Yan, Dong Xin Yan only felt her whole heart abruptly tighten and ached as if suspended in midair, even her breath held montarily, but she maintained a calm deanor, her eyes serene, and the corners of her lips perfectly curved. Her heart, in that instant, fell rapidly once more.
Even though she didn’t have much hope that she would recognize her, when she truly didn’t, her heart still hurt and felt sad.
"She’s my companion, Dong Xin Yan." Gu Ningyi answered lightly, but the hand on Dong Xin Yan’s waist tightened slightly.
Lady Wei, perceptive as she was, naturally discerned Gu Ningyi’s possessiveness and smiled knowingly.
But, what was this companion’s na? Dong Xin Yan?
Lady Wei’s heart trembled suddenly; she couldn’t help but lift her gaze again, examining Dong Xin Yan closely, unaware that she was also looking at her, and their eyes collided.
Lady Wei clearly saw the eagerness in Dong Xin Yan’s eyes, and her own heartbeat quickened, finding it difficult to maintain eye contact.
Dong Xin Yan, Xinyan, Xinxin... is it her?
Impossible, isn’t it?
The middle-aged man beside them was already complinting Dong Xin Yan and suddenly said, "Wow, looking at it this way, Miss Dong and Lady Wei in her younger days looked very much alike, both are stunning beauties."
The champagne in her hand was involuntarily gripped tighter, as Lady Wei forced herself to remain calm and said apologetically to Gu Ningyi, "Mr. Gu, I need to visit the restroom, please excuse ."
