Dong Xin Yan held back for a while, but Gu Ningyi’s kisses and caresses made her body grow colder and more rigid. She gripped the sheet beneath her tightly, gritted her teeth, and finally lifted her hands to push him away.
"Gu Ningyi, don’t!"
She struggled beneath him, turning her face to avoid his kiss. Her voice trembled as she spoke, carrying a hint of fear and nervousness, "Don’t."
Gu Ningyi’s kissing motion abruptly stopped.
He slowly lifted his head, his dark eyes gradually capturing Dong Xin Yan’s pale face. Her delicate brows were furrowed, and her eyes showed undisguised fear. Her lips, too, shivered uncontrollably.
His dark eyes dimd, his excitent and fervor fading by half.
How could he forget that she was still very afraid of him now? Earlier when he realized this, he was filled with anger and unwillingness, but now what surged in his heart was extre pain.
He couldn’t bla her, for what he had done to her before was truly despicable. No wonder she feared him.
Thankfully, she was willing to forgive him, willing to give him another chance. This ti, he would treat her well and never bully her again.
Gu Ningyi silently looked at her, making Dong Xin Yan’s heart race with unease.
She had always been afraid to refuse him because she feared he would get angry and might go after Ziyang again. If she didn’t know that Gu Ningyi now mistook her for Zhou Yalin, she wouldn’t dare resist either.
But... what if he gets angry again?
Dong Xin Yan unconsciously swallowed, her mind spinning quickly, wondering if she should say sothing to ease the tension. Yet, she saw Gu Ningyi slightly parted his thin lips, his voice low as he spoke, "I’m sorry."
Those simple three words felt like sothing hit Dong Xin Yan’s heart hard. She blinked her clear, large eyes, sowhat dazed.
Gu Ningyi actually said... sorry?
Weren’t those three words never supposed to exist in his life’s dictionary?
"If you don’t want to, I won’t force you." Gu Ningyi’s thin lips moved, slowly releasing those few words.
Dong Xin Yan’s jet-black pupils suddenly widened, looking at Gu Ningyi’s handso face in disbelief, leaving her completely dumbfounded.
As his words fell, his large hand that had slipped inside her nightgown withdrew, one hand propping up his body while the other pulled her clothes back into place.
He perford these actions earnestly and carefully, the light casting a diagonal shadow on his profile, deepening his features but also cloaking them in a layer of haze.
Dong Xin Yan stared blankly at him, for a mont feeling like she no longer recognized the man in front of her.
A man who never accepted refusal, who never considered others’ feelings, could actually say, if you don’t want to, I won’t force you.
It turns out, he’s not soone who cannot accept rejection, nor soone who disregards others’ feelings, but it depends on who the person is.
Faced with the woman he loves, he, too, would unconditionally relent.
Gu Ningyi tidied her clothes, his dark eyes once again falling on her face. His hand moved slightly, wanting to stroke her face, but ultimately did nothing and softly said, "Rest well."
With that, he rolled off her, propped himself up, and stumbled out of the bedroom.
