Gu Ningyi steadied Dong Xin Yan’s body, and his hanging heart slowly settled down. His dark eyes slightly drooped, and his gaze fell on Dong Xin Yan’s face.
Her sleeping face was as serene as ever, her breathing calm and long, indicating that she had fallen into a deep sleep. Yet, she was not sleeping soundly; her brows were tightly knitted, forming small peaks, and her red lips were unconsciously pressed together.
What nightmare did she have again? Were her nightmares brought on by him once more?
Recalling Dong Xin Yan’s expression of fear just now, his heart was suddenly pricked with pain, and his face turned slightly pale.
He then rembered that it seed Dong Xin Yan had never been able to sleep peacefully by his side. Every ti, she lay beside him, trembling with fear, even in her dreams, she was afraid.
However, he never wanted her to be afraid of him. He never wished... for her to fear him.
In fact, she wasn’t initially afraid of him at all. At tis, when he teased and bullied her, she would retaliate. If he thoroughly provoked her, she would fearlessly charge at him, pin him to the ground, and beat him up ruthlessly.
To be honest, when Dong Xin Yan beat him up fiercely that ti, his first reaction was not anger, but shock.
Since he was born, he had always been the center of attention, pampered by everyone. They feared lting him in their mouths, breaking him in their hands, which gradually fostered his arrogant and rebellious little tyrant personality.
If he disliked soone, he would certainly not let that person have a good ti. And everyone before him was always submissive and obedient, not daring to provoke him in the slightest.
So when his mother brought the skinny Dong Xin Yan in front of him and said she would accompany him to school and supervise his studies, he didn’t speak but rely stared at Dong Xin Yan with a half-smile.
Everyone knew Gu Ningyi was a little tyrant, loved to make mischief, and the timid ones dared not approach him, let alone supervise his studies. He thought the skinny little girl, Dong Xin Yan, wouldn’t have the guts to accept such a thing. Yet, unexpectedly, as soon as his mother’s words fell, the little girl introduced herself directly and decisively to him, "Hello, Gu Ningyi, my na is Dong Xin Yan. Let’s go to school together from now on."
The kids surrounding him would all respectfully call him Mr. Gu, and nobody dared to call his na directly like she did.
At that mont, he was actually a little shaken by her words.
After reacting, he beca intrigued by this little girl, and simultaneously, a peculiar excitent arose in his heart. It was the first ti soone wasn’t afraid of him, and she was just a thin little girl. He wanted to see if she was truly unafraid or pretending not to be scared just to get into a prestigious school.
However, looking at Dong Xin Yan’s frail appearance, he disdainfully thought she must be pretending, absolutely too weak to withstand a gust of wind, not at all formidable.
Unexpectedly... this seemingly delicate and thin little girl wasn’t weak at all, instead, she was so fierce that her ferocity left him completely dumbfounded.
So much so, that on the night he was beaten black and blue by her, he tossed and turned in pain on the bed, unable to sleep. Yet, in his mind, he wasn’t planning revenge, but instead thinking... when the little girl was angry, her puffed-up little face was surprisingly cute...
