So he’s really back.
Dong Xin Yan was already feeling quite depressed and low, and upon seeing Gu Ningyi, her mood plumted further into despair.
Today just wasn’t her day, and to top it all off, Gu Ningyi ca back early. It felt like heaven was playing tricks on her!
Moreover, she was full of anger towards him right now, unable to muster a smile to greet him.
Dong Xin Yan thought for a mont and decided to leave, as if she hadn’t seen Gu Ningyi co back. After all, he told her he would be on a business trip for a week.
So, Dong Xin Yan slowly put back on the shoes she had taken off halfway, then quietly turned around, planning to sneak out. However, as she turned, she accidentally kicked a suitcase, making a loud noise.
The noise startled Gu Ningyi awake. His long and dense eyelashes quivered as he slowly opened his eyes.
Dong Xin Yan’s heart skipped a beat in fright, and she instinctively turned her head to look at the sofa, her dark eyes unexpectedly eting Gu Ningyi’s black gaze.
His eyes still contained a hint of confusion, a laziness of just waking up, and he locked eyes with Dong Xin Yan for several seconds as his gaze gradually cleared.
Being seen ant she couldn’t leave, and Dong Xin Yan couldn’t help but feel annoyed. It seed like every ti she wanted to do sothing bad in front of Gu Ningyi, sothing would go wrong.
So frustrating!
Dong Xin Yan furrowed her brows, unwilling to deal with Gu Ningyi. She was full of anger towards him, but... only a little over half a month remained of the three-month deal, and in half a month, Ziyang would be safely out, and she could part ways with Gu Ningyi forever, with no more entanglents.
So now, she couldn’t fail at the last mont.
After weighing her options, Dong Xin Yan suppressed her unwillingness. She tried to force a smile, but her cheeks hurt when she tried to curl her lips, so she gave up and just switched her shoes, then slowly walked toward the sofa.
The entrance was still so distance from the living room, and Dong Xin Yan was against the light, so Gu Ningyi couldn’t see her face clearly at first.
But as she gradually approached, stepping out of the shadows, Gu Ningyi saw clearly that Dong Xin Yan’s previously fair cheek was red and swollen, marked with five distinct finger marks.
Although Dong Xin Yan deliberately let her hair down to slightly cover it, it was still quite obvious.
Gu Ningyi’s gaze involuntarily fixed on her cheek, his dark pupils contracting sharply. Then, he suddenly stood up, grabbing Dong Xin Yan’s arm and pulling her in front of him.
Up close, the redness and swelling on Dong Xin Yan’s face was even more shocking. Gu Ningyi’s eyes darkened abruptly, and his voice was dangerously sharp, "Who hit you?"
Dong Xin Yan had just reached the sofa, intending to greet Gu Ningyi with a "You’re back," but he suddenly stood up, pulling her over, and his dangerously cold voice rang in her ear, startling her eyes wide open in a mont of shock.
Was Gu Ningyi angry? Was he actually angry because her face was hurt? Did she see that correctly?
Dong Xin Yan didn’t answer, which made Gu Ningyi furrow his brow even deeper. His voice lowered, filled with an imposing chill, "Who was it?"
The chilling cold finally pulled Dong Xin Yan back to her senses, and she reflexively opened her mouth to say Tang Qian’s na.
