531: Chapter 373: Eden Cave_2 531: Chapter 373: Eden Cave_2 These rumors were quite detailed, yet they never explicitly pointed to which competitor was involved.
However, those with keen minds could easily figure it out.
Strangely enough, the favorite candidate of the first two rounds – Governor Bertram of the Summit tropolitan Office – seed to have no rumors circulating about him at all.
But the gamblers had their own ideas.
In the previous two rounds, Governor Bertram had not been considered a popular candidate, but now, even without good news, people would not underestimate him in the third round.
In the midst of the hustle and bustle, the news of the war in the northwest of the Imperial Court had not stirred up much attention in the capital – this was intentional on the part of the Imperial Court.
At first glance, the signed agreent seed like a bad deal for the Wood Dynasty.
If the matter were to attract widespread attention, it would have inevitably caused another crisis.
Adonis Dunn agreed with the agreent because the current Wood Dynasty could not afford to fight a war on two fronts.
They had to stabilize the northwest first, then quietly gather strength and seize the opportunity to destroy the Nanni Nation’s military force.
The goal was to take over the entire territory of the Nanni Nation and block the Red Race at sea.
The plan had to be executed quickly, not giving the northwest and the Demon Clan any chance to react.
Master Lane finally returned to the long-missed capital on the night before the Dragon and Snake List began.
That sa night, Owen Bertram suddenly heard the sound of water splashing in his gourd, and his younger brother turned over and stretched out his head, spitting an object out at the elder brother.
Owen Bertram caught the object, which had been washed clean with clear water, and saw that it was a small, dagger-sized, double-headed, handle-less flying sword.
The mont he took it in his hand, a warm current flowed from his younger brother’s side into his mind.
This was two levels higher than his previous flying sword and could still be used in conjunction with the Five-toothed Battleship, but the power of the battleship needed to be further enhanced to take full advantage of the flying sword’s might.
Although he could not yet determine the exact level of the new flying sword, it was certain to be better than the Tier-6 ancient sword of the Divine Heavenly Soldier.
That warm current inford the elder brother about the origin of the three giant swords in the Divine Lake, which were indeed large-scale magical instrunts, but they were not ant to guard the water camp.
Beneath the three giant swords was indeed a unique “structure” that connected the entirety of the Divine Lake.
The structure, however, was a combination of arrays and curse skills.
By combining the arrays and curse skills, the three giant swords could be controlled to shoot up tens of thousands of feet in the sky, countering any dangers from above.
“What kind of dangers could there be in the sky?” Owen Bertram wondered, guessing it might be sothing like an enemy nation’s chanical flying vehicle.
But why would a water camp need such preparations?
Owen Bertram didn’t get caught up in these details and started practicing various sword skills with the new flying sword, as well as the Breaking Void Divine Ability.
With this new magical instrunt, his confidence soared, and he eagerly anticipated the upcoming battle in Eden Cave.
…
The sun rose from below the earth, bathing the world in its radiant light.
The capital, quiet for a night, began to bustle early on as the cultivators left the city gates.
So flew solo on magical instrunts, while others set off in groups for rton Academy.
They were full of energy and ambition, looking forward to the future.
On the road from the capital to rton Academy, only the vehicle of the lead examiner, Evans Graham, appeared somber.
Seated in the vehicle, Evans seed to age by ten years over the course of several days.
He worried about how he would explain the situation to His Majesty.
The construction of the Imperial Flying Carriage had been relying on the funds from this Dragon and Snake list.
As the vehicle approached rton Academy, Evans suddenly brightened up, slapping his thigh vigorously.
“I have an idea!” he exclaid, excitedly fine-tuning his plan.
But his expression turned dark as he muttered, “I’m just afraid soone will interfere!”
“This ti, we must find a way to limit that Owen Bertram!”
Unable to keep the events inside Zombie Cave a secret, not only Nick Liam knew, but even Evans was aware.
Naturally, he had deep resentnt towards Owen for snagging a huge deal between him and the Fifth Prince!
Evans didn’t even consider the favor from the first round.
Now, he saw Owen as his greatest enemy.
“In theory, Owen Bertram may have been unrivaled in the Zombie Cave, but it also proves his expertise lies in the realm of spirit insects.
For this Eden Cave, he should be out of his depth.
But…
this is my last chance and I can’t afford any mistakes.
We’ll need to give him so extra attention!”
As long as he “cared” for Owen, he would fundantally have no chance of achieving good results in the third round, and he might not even make it to the final Palace Examination.
Yet, Evans felt no guilt, thinking, “You brought this upon yourself by ruining my good fortune!”
In front of the rton Academy’s main hall, there was a spacious square paved with white jade and surrounded by stone column arcades of the sa material.
A thousand cultivators who advanced to the third round stood neatly in the square.
On the left side of the square, there were several rows of grand chairs prepared for important guests who had co to watch.
The seats were already filled.
The right side was an open area, packed with household guards and followers of the cultivators inside the arena.
Owen was surrounded by people on both sides.
Ferdinand and Ken, both of the Sixth Great Realm, each had a chair on the left side, while Ferdinand’s disciples were mostly standing on the right.
Owen looked to the left and saw Lord Liam in the second position of the first row.
Then, looking further back, he unexpectedly spotted Master Lane in the last seat of the sa row!
Owen’s eyes lit up as he waved enthusiastically.
Master Lane responded with a smile, unaware that Owen was silently complaining about the distance between them: Aren’t you two just drawing more attention by sitting so far apart, Master Lane?
