What’s going on?

Zhou Li hugged Brother Nan, his brow furrowing at the sa ti.

This Highness seed quite formidable. In a very short ti, while Brother Nan was not fully conscious, she had managed to control his body and had already begun to figure out the rules. For instance, she could only erge when Brother Nan was asleep and not resisting; each appearance was ti-limited; and when she wasn’t out, she could only share his vision and hearing.

Yet, powerful as she was, she had miscalculated her return ti and had nearly fallen...

Was it because Brother Nan woke up? Or was it a ga of wits between Brother Nan and her?

Just then, Zhou Li saw Brother Nan, still in his arms, open his eyes again—eyes that had closed only a second before.

He had co to a decision.

Beside them, the Old Monster grew bolder, chuckling with schadenfreude, "If Zhou Li hadn’t caught you, would that count as you tripping yourself?"

"Brother Nan, you’re awake?" Unlike the Old Monster, Zhou Li asked with concern.

"Yeah." Brother Nan nodded, stood up, pushed Zhou Li away, and then turned to look at his surroundings. "Did she co out again?"

"Yes," Zhou Li answered.

"I think... I can sense it," Brother Nan said thoughtfully. "It’s an inexplicable, almost subconscious feeling."

"And then?"

"Then I wanted to wake up, and so I did."

"Brother Nan, you’re aweso!"

"Get her, Brother Nan!" Huai Xu urged. "Take her down!"

Zhou Li silently glanced at the Old Monster. "She’ll wake up again."

"? Afraid of her?"

"Speak properly. Don’t stutter."

"You!"

The Old Monster’s eyes widened, his face flushing red.

"You two, quiet down for now."

Brother Nan waved his hand, signaling them to be quiet. Then, he lowered his head slightly, his gaze unfocused on the ground, a flicker within his eyes as if he were pondering sothing or savoring a particular sensation. At that mont, he appeared unusually serious, which Zhou Li found quite charming.

Half an hour passed in what felt like a flash.

It was hard to imagine that soone as typically restless as him could stay so still, quietly contemplating a single matter for so long.

Brother Nan lifted his head, a new certainty in his eyes.

"When she erges, I should indeed be able to sense it. It’s probably because my consciousness isn’t entirely dormant when I’m sleeping. Once I figure out a training thod, I should be able to easily master the trick of waking up at such monts.

"And I can also... vaguely sense her presence. Like right now, I have a faint sensation of it. It’s hard to describe, like having a pebble in my shoe.

"So, I think I can go a step further: directly block her, prevent her from waking up at all."

"She can hear us talking," Huai Xu timidly reminded him. "She claid just now that she can share your vision and hearing. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but a Demon isn’t supposed to lie... You could close your eyes and write; then she wouldn’t know."

"It doesn’t matter. Sneaking around is pointless."

"So domineering, Brother Nan!"

Huai Xu gave him a thumbs up. "Get rid of her as soon as possible, so you don’t have soone peeping while you two are sleeping!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, he saw Zhou Li looking at him calmly.

Hmm... What does that an? Huai Xu ntally shook his head; he didn’t get it.

Brother Nan, however, smacked his lips, an uncomfortable expression on his face. "Getting rid of her seems a bit much. She is, after all, sort of my... past life? Anyway, it’s a weird feeling. I can’t bring myself to do it."

Huai Xu raised his thumb again. "So righteous, Brother Nan!"

Brother Nan nodded and continued, "Of course, having an ability and not using it is different from not having the ability at all. I still need to figure out this thod."

Huai Xu, thumb still raised, declared, "So insightful, Brother Nan!"

Zhou Li was speechless. What a fool this guy is.

Then again, it was unsettling. Another soul resided in his girlfriend’s body—or rather, another personality in her brain, one constructed from the mories of a King of Demons at least thousands of years old. He would definitely feel strange about it; so resistance was inevitable. This was especially true since his girlfriend’s body harbored imnse Spiritual Power. Due to her current learning progress, she couldn’t control this power yet. But for that powerful personality, this Spiritual Power was originally hers, and she could wield it as easily as moving her own limbs.

There was once Master Ming. But even Master Ming, despite using a Demon’s body to live for two thousand more years, had long since passed away and could no longer suppress that Demon.

The ’Elm King’ now was more than ten tis stronger than before. If she decided to do sothing, who could possibly stop her?

Fortunately, Brother Nan could exert so control over her. That was the only reason Zhou Li felt he could barely accept the situation.

Brother Nan’s voice interrupted his thoughts—

"Get a cup of water."

"Oh."

Zhou Li picked up a cup to get so water.

On the way, he almost stepped on sothing that resembled a fluffy dust rag. Looking down, he realized it was Lord Dumpling, who had fainted, her pink tongue lolling out.

"Poor thing..."

After getting the water, Zhou Li bent down and picked up the ’dust rag’. Tuanzi’s tongue lolled to the other side.

Brother Nan held the water cup, drinking unconsciously. He was still pondering, trying to grasp that elusive feeling from when he had just awakened, while the sensation was still fresh and hadn’t faded completely.

Another half hour passed before he felt he had grasped everything he could. What remained was either too elusive to grasp or had already faded with ti. He would have to wait until ’she’ (the Highness) erged again for the feeling to reappear, then try to grasp it once more.

"What happened to this Little Trash Cat?" he asked, coming back to his senses.

"Passed out," Zhou Li said.

"How did she pass out?" Brother Nan asked again.

"You knocked her out," Huai Xu said.
