That day, on the way to the graveyard to visit Jin Renguang's ex wife, Qin Weizhe was suddenly possessed with the urge to end his years of crush. "Miss Ru, can you stop looking at Jin Renguang and consider for once?" He waited patiently, knowing that there's no way Ru iqi would accept him. He knew she wasn't a woman like that.
Just as he expected, Ru iqi tucked her hair behind her ear and stared into a distance. "Sorry, Comrade Qin. With my condition like this, I think it's insulting to accept your feelings carelessly when I can't even discern what my heart actually wants. You're a very good and capable man so I believe you will certainly have it easy to move on from ."
Qin Weizhe let out a sigh. The breeze ruffled his hair and along with it, he felt like a burden had been lifted off his shoulder. He chuckled. "Wow, I have actually been given a nice guy card, huh?"
Ru iqi laughed along with him.
"Well, I hope you aren't wrong." He shrugged and took the initiative to walk ahead. "I wish you happiness, Miss Ru. One little piece of advice though, if you're feeling confused at this mont, it ans that you have already found the answer yourself." He turned around and grinned rrily. "Am I right?"
His recollection ended with Luo Ning's exclamations. "Wait, wait a mont. So, you confessed and got rejected?!"
"Yes." Qin Weizhe's laughter couldn't be any more carefree. "So, what question does our Little Luo Ning have left?"
Luo Ning tried to remain calm and composed. He brushed off Qin Weizhe's teasing tone and asked in confirmation. "So…after you're rejected, coincidentally I—I confessed to you and you thought that I am not bad, that's why you went along with the flow?"
Qin Weizhe was stunned for a mont before bursting out in a fit of laughter. He flicked Luo Ning's forehead exasperatedly. "Exactly what has your head been thinking about? I like you. Do you hear ? I like you and it's as simple as that. Why did you consider yourself as a rebound?"
"I'm not?"
"Of course not." He smiled. "Do you know why I started to like Miss Ru?"
Luo Ning shook his head. "Why?"
"Hmm, it's quite complicated. I bet you don't know yet. Although my parents can't be considered rich and powerful, they are still quite wealthy and respected in the city where they were living in. My father is a university professor and my mother is an ordinary housewife. Actually, I have twin elder brothers, one younger brother and one younger sister."
Luo Ning gasped in shock. "Your family is so large!"
Qin Weizhe humd, amused. He threw his gaze outside and saw little droplets of water had started to fall onto the window glass. He restarted the car and continued driving as he reminisced. "Yes, and my father brought us up with strict discipline and morality. So, when I ca out about my sexuality to them, they couldn't accept it." He smiled wryly. "That's also why I was reluctant to answer you for the first ti."
"Ah…" Luo Ning recalled his shaless behavior when he was drunk. Steam emitted from his head. "S—So, what happened in the end?"
"What could happen?" He shrugged leisurely. "I was disowned."
"What?!" His eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
It was as if Qin Weizhe was only talking about the rain outside. His tone was exceedingly casual and nonchalant. "Anyway, they have three other sons who listened to them. They don't need this kind of son who's abnormal."
"Abnormal…" Luo Ning's heart squeezed. He couldn't imagine how big of a courage Qin Weizhe mustered to co out to his family only to be rejected and abandoned in the end. "That's very hurtful…"
"I guess so. Their words haunted for years. But this is just who I am. I am born like this and being a bisexual isn't a sin." He laughed softly. But sohow, Luo Ning's heart ached sharply. Qin Weizhe cleared his throat and continued. "I think that's why I have been searching for soone who can accept the abnormal , soone who saw the ugly side of and didn't think I was weird compared to others."
"And sohow, I felt like Miss Ru could understand . Now that I think about it, it's really weird. Just a vague feeling and intuition, it sohow brought to having a one sided crush for years." He shook his head, seemingly laughing at his own stupidity.
Luo Ning clenched his jaw and claid with a loud voice, almost biting his tongue in the middle. "I—I can also understand you! In junior high school, I had a crush on a girl. But right now, I like a man. Then, does it an I am also abnormal like you?!"
His self righteous words tinged with grievances cracked Qin Weizhe up. Once again, he burst out laughing.
The car entered the residential complex where they lived and Qin Weizhe didn't answer until he parked into the garage and turned off the engine. The laughter in his eyes had faded, replaced with gravity Luo Ning had never seen before. "Let ask you for the last ti. Think about it clearly before you answer, Luo Ning."
He stared into the man's eyes and nodded dumbly.
Qin Weizhe's eyes thawed and he reached for Luo Ning's hand, grasping it softly. "Do you want to be with ? The kind where we will have nobody except for each other. When the matter about us cos out, you may be subjected to interrogative and repulsive looks from the public, your friends and relatives might talk about you behind your back, and worst, you can't even have children. If you're your parents' only son, then you have to wrong your ancestors by cutting the family line." Qin Weizhe gazed into his eyes deeply and gave a slightly sad smile. "Even then, do you still want to be with ?"
…it's not fair. He totally didn't play it fair.
If he gave this kind of soft look, saying those kind of affectionate words, how could Luo Ning bear to say no?
He didn't even have to think as he threw himself into Qin Weizhe's embrace, almost knocking the breath out of the latter's lungs. "You…" His eyes revealed doubt and disbelief. Arms dangling by the younger's man side, hesitant to return the hug. "Luo Ning, you…"
"I forgot to tell you." Luo Ning whispered with a smile. "I am an orphan to begin with so I have no family line to pass on. I don't care about the look people give as long as I have you by my side and children…we can just adopt so if you'd like."
Qin Weizhe was stunned, unable to react for a while.
Luo Ning giggled and braced himself to drop a kiss onto his cheek. His eyes twinkled like a billion stars were confined in them. "A person with nothing to begin with doesn't fear losing. How about it, Detective Qin? If I say yes…will you accept ? Will I be your only one?"
Qin Weizhe looked into his eyes and finally…let out the breath he was holding and inhaled sharply afterward. "You…" He gnashed his teeth and pounced on Luo Ning, eliciting a flustered and delightful yelp from the latter.
Qin Weizhe princess carried him inside, the corner of his lips curled into a smirk. "Be prepared. I will not let you go from now on."
