The next morning Auntie Gu noticed it was already 9am and Tang Xue i wasn’t downstairs yet, a frown creasing her forehead.
The house was unusually quiet, with no sign of Tang Xue i, who typically rose early. Concern growing, Auntie Gu decided to check on the Tang Xue i, especially mindful of her delicate condition.
She climbed the stairs, her slippered feet making soft sounds on the steps. Reaching Tang Xue i’s door, she paused, listening for any movent inside. Hearing nothing, she gently knocked. "Young Madam? Are you alright?"
When no answer ca, Auntie Gu carefully opened the door and peered inside. The room was still dark, curtains drawn against the morning light. As her eyes adjusted, she spotted a figure huddled under the blankets on the bed.
Approaching quietly, Auntie Gu noticed Tang Xue i’s labored breathing. She was curled up tightly, her usually neat hair disheveled and damp with sweat. Her face was flushed, and she was shivering despite the room’s warmth.
"Oh, dear heavens!" Auntie Gu murmured, placing a weathered hand on Xue i’s forehead. Her skin felt hot to the touch, confirming her suspicions of a fever. Her worry intensified, knowing the potential risks to both Tang Xue i and her unborn child.
Tang Xue i stirred at the contact, her eyes opening slowly. "Auntie Gu?" she mumbled, her voice weak and scratchy. "What ti is it?..."
"Hush now, Young Madam.." Auntie Gu said softly but firmly. "You’re not going anywhere today but the hospital. You’ve caught a fever, and in your condition, we must be extra careful."
Tang Xue i tried to protest, she needed to get up, she hadn’t told what and what not to do today.
But Auntie Gu was already moving about the room with purpose. She opened the curtains slightly to let in fresh air, then gathered a basin of cool water and a soft cloth.
"I’ve finally reached my limit" Xue i said weakly, attempting to sit up, one hand instinctively moving to rest on her stomach.
"You have to listen to your body when it tells you to rest la" Auntie Gu insisted, gently pressing Xue i back onto her pillows and placing the cool cloth on her forehead. "You need rest now, for both you and the little ones. I’ll bring you so light congee and ginger tea, then I’ll get uncle Wang to call the doctor."
Tang Xue i sank back into bed and nodded grateful for Auntie Gu’s presence. As auntie Gu fussed over her with maternal concern, arranging the pillows, placing the blanket.
Tang Xue i closed her eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep.
When Tang Xue i opened her eyes again, she found many pairs of eyes staring at her.
Feng Shiyan, Ming Beicheng, Ye Beiyi, Leia, An Yu, Qin Mingyue, even Feng Shihan’s mother and Rong Shihua were present.
"Why do you all have such sad expressions? I’m not dead.."
Tang Xue i sat up noticing the IV drip on her hand.
"The doctor said not to move your hand around too much.."
Xia Yuyu smiled and placed Tang Xue i hand down being the closest to her.
"How did you even know I had a fever?"
"Auntie Gu!"
Feng Shiyan chuckled it was one of auntie Gu’s habit, to call soone’s loved ones when they were sick.
"Auntie Gu’s old habit haha she’s caring to a fault.."
Tang Xue i shook her head, she didn’t mind that they were all here, it made her feel that she wasn’t alone.
"Xue i you have to take care of your body properly.."
Qin Mingyue held her head with a soft smile, she didn’t even bother going to university when auntie Gu called and directly ca here.
"I will I will.."
Turning to Rong Shihua, she smiled "Why are you here though? Don’t you have school.."
"Mum allowed to skip.."
Rong Shihua said innocently excluding the part where she refused to go school after hearing Tang Xue i was sick.
"You brat! Don’t skip the last where you begged to let you skip school.."
Rong Shihua blushed as she turned her face away. Tang Xue i chuckling softly.
"Alright give her so space, she has to eat so she can take her dicine..."
Ming Beicheng, Feng Shiyan, An Yu, Xia Yuyu and Rong Shihua all walked out of the room except Qin Mingyue who Tang Xue i asked to stay.
"I’m sorry I couldn’t make it to the sleepover.."
Qin Mingyue shook her head, she understood now that Tang Xue i had a lot on her plate.
"I understand you’re a busy woman, but why didn’t you tell anything. I only just found out your husband left for the military.."
Tang Xue i smiled they wanted to keep it hidden until he ca back, most ti she just said he went on business trips.
"Did Feng Shiyan tell you that?"
"Yes.."
Tang Xue i smiled cheekily as she stared at Qin Mingyue, were they going out now?
"He finally asked you out huh?"
"I wish he did.."
Qin Mingyue sighed they just went on dates, sotis kiss but nothing really wanted between them.
"He’ll co around I believe, maybe because he doesn’t have any rivals. But I’m sure once he sees other guys around you. He’ll definitely ask you out ..."
Qin Mingyue shook her head she wished that was the case. But Feng Shihan was extrely possessive, he chased every guy away but he never asked her out.
"He’s possessive Xue i, who says he doesn’t have rivals, he’s threatened all of them.."
Tang Xue i laughed now they were truly Feng n. It sounded like the exact sa thing Feng Shihan would do.
"But you don’t mind it, in fact you even like it.."
Qin Mingyue’s lips twitched as she imdiately diverted her attention to the box of cookies.
"I made this was you, get well soon cookies...rember to eat them.."
Qin Mingyue stood up and ran to the door.
"Mingyue..where are you..."
Bang!
Tang Xue i smiled and shook her head, she was glad Qin Mingyue had found soone that would treat her better.
