John was hit.

This was a carefully orchestrated ambush.

The opponent’s vehicle was a top-notch Jurassic Armored Vehicle.

It was even more perfect than the manufacturer’s promotional video.

A matte, wear-resistant coating.

A customized reinforced fra.

Six sharp ramming corners, like a nacing armor covering a giant beast.

When it charged out from a dead corner of the side road with the montum of crushing everything, the Fafnir-Leader T that John was in was tilted, slid sideways, and successively broke the municipal utility poles, trash cans, vending machines, and the shop windows on the street...

Screams echoed down the street.

Chaotic footsteps and the screeching of brakes mingled with the terrifying sound of shattering glass.

Arcs generated from damaged equipnt burst open, condensing into orange-yellow sparks that drizzled down like rain.

The ambush spot was extrely tricky.

The timing and angle of impact were perfect.

John felt like he was back at Tiebang Logistics’ Vehicle Training Center.

He was undergoing the most standard "roadside ambush training."

Except now, he was on the receiving end of the attack.

This didn’t seem like the work of rcenaries!

Every step exuded a "professional" vibe.

The Fafnir wasn’t embedded into a wall, nor did it suffer the most dreadful rollover; all six tires were smoking, and after several collisions, it managed to break free.

As soon as the attack began.

Sora took over John’s body in ti.

The AI’s reaction surpassed human limits, using the business vehicle’s high anti-collision factor to cause a deviation in the impact angle, thereby saving John’s life.

The Fafnir accelerated away from the collision.

The Jurassic Armored Vehicle pursued closely behind.

Another round of street chase ensued.

Swoosh—

Screech—

John was enveloped by the piercing sounds of scraping.

He was disoriented, the sharp pain from internal injuries made it difficult to breathe, but even in agony, his hands and feet were operating rapidly.

The steering wheel was sticky, likely sared with blood.

[Vehicle Authorization/Default, Threshold Warning...]

The engine of the Leader T was nearly overloaded.

Its fra and door panels were severely damaged, as if it had gone through a scrapyard.

John couldn’t think.

Kenichi Sora was using his body to operate.

Error codes and warning ssages continuously popped up in his field of vision, through the gaps of the red pop-ups, he could see the shattered windshield, and his own arms swaying wildly with the steering wheel...

The ad lights on both sides of the street reflected chaotically, making the farthest point in his vision appear dreamlike.

John held his breath, trying to steady his shaking line of sight amidst the burning pain in his chest.

The electronic rearview mirror was half shattered.

Pixels masked John’s face, only reflecting a blurry figure drenched in blood.

Bam! Screech—

The deadly chase continued.

The armored vehicle kept gnawing at the business car.

Correct commands were loading into the system one by one.

Sora spoke impatiently.

[Hey, brother, can you wake up? Even the prosthetic body isn’t functioning well, wait, look what I found, okay, there’s ergency dicine in the glove compartnt!]

Thump—

A pump injector was pressed against John’s neck.

[Ti to get up!]

"Ugh... fuck!"

John straightened his back.

The noise in his head instantly beca clear.

The control over his body was still in Sora’s hands.

He saw himself racing with one hand while holding a finished Ergency Combat Injection in the other.

"Hiss... damn."

John winced in pain.

"Fuck! This is intense as hell, feels like there’s electricity running through my veins, damn, f— hiss!"

Kenichi Sora was pleased.

[Shows the ds work, stop being dramatic, brother, if you fall asleep, I can’t even pass the neural signal checks to use your prosthetic body.]

"My prosthetic body?"

John was a bit out of it.

[Yeah, one life per person, buddy, you already got knocked out of the ga when you got hit, now it’s my turn!]

Sora cleared the jumbled pop-ups from John’s vision, highlighting an empty red health bar.

"Oh sh*t... fine, quick reflexes, otherwise we’d both be screwed, wait, stop f*cking thinking about gas! Get out of this wrecked car, fast!"

John had undergone company training.

He knew what the follow-up procedures for a vehicle ambush were.

Almost in the next second.

A tallic spear containing an EMP shot out from the shadows across two intersections.

The special bullet penetrated the trunk and the leather seat.

The business sedan, after all, is a civilian vehicle, without military-grade anti-explosion alloy plates.

The electric lance pierced the car body, unfurling its nacing talons.

Alloy deflectors penetrated the vehicle like porcupine quills.

With a hair-raising ticking sound, a furious blue waterfall gushed out from within.

John’s back tingled with numbness.

The EMP began destroying the hardware equipnt.

Error ssages from the prosthetic body filled his vision.

Sparks erupted from the chip on John’s neck. With the hardware compromised, almost at the sa mont, Kenichi Sora’s voice abruptly stopped in his mind.

It was kicked out.

The body control was back in John’s hands.

John’s limbs froze for a mont, only feeling the steering wheel in his hands harder than a sculpture.

Thud, thud.

The engine made a frightening sound.

The whole car began to shake wildly like an off-balance washing machine.

An unknown liquid was ignited.

Thick smoke erupted.

The black mist swallowed the electric arcs, also engulfing the driver’s seat; the scorching toxic gas began gnawing at the skin.

Damn it, shit!

John gritted his teeth and crawled toward the passenger seat.

According to the vehicle interception procedures:

The mini EMP bomb follows, then the final stop targeting the people inside the car!

He had to stay away from the steering wheel!

Bang!

The Jurassic Armored Vehicle roared, throttle locked, pushing Fafnir into a corner.

Screech—

Smoke rose from the sedan’s tires, followed by flas.

Boom!

This collision was more violent than any before.

The high-speed Fafnir was unbalanced, the system severely damaged and powered down, like a boxer who had lost consciousness, punched on the chin, leaning back and collapsing.

The entire car jerked violently in the impact.

Prepared in advance, John, along with shattered glass and car parts, was hurled out of the smoky passenger seat with inertia.

He tumbled onto the pavent.

Bloodstains marked his path.

It was a life-and-death gamble. The car was now a purgatory, but flying out of a speeding vehicle didn’t guarantee a safe landing.

John rolled several tis, tumbling through the air.

Black Light exploded.

It breached obstacles, overwriting all erroneous data.

Though it couldn’t repair the hardware damaged by the EMP, it stopped the data degradation leading to a short circuit.

[Device Reconnect/Default]

Sianweistan successfully calibrated, triggering a ti-stop effect just before the deadly fall.

The flow of the entire world slowed down.

Neon distorted, light and shadow flickered, electric arcs writhed.

The EMP echo caused Sianweistan to run poorly.

John’s face kept being stretched, divided into several layers, finally overlapping to cough up blood.

Slowing ti flow only increased thinking ti.

He had to recover balance in midair, or else, falling all the way to the ground... he would either be unconscious or severely injured, both resulting in being struck down.

John attempted to touch the ground; the prosthetic limbs started alarming.

As he pondered how to reduce the damage, a field of increasing data noise suddenly appeared before him.

[&%¥##... Ah—]

Kenichi Sora’s roar gradually stabilized.

Sianweistan speeds up information processing, normal speech speed would turn into noise in the communication channel.

Sora could communicate normally, aning it had adjusted the speech speed.

[I’m not convinced! This doesn’t count! I haven’t finished yet! Using an EMP bomb on people, what kind of skill is that? I want to seriously spar with them for a couple of moves!]

It was extrely furious, being disconnected by the EMP aftershock, like being unplugged from the network during a ga duel.

John’s body was once again taken over by the AI.

Fizz—

He rubbed his hand against the rough ground.

The artificial leather was worn out, the synthetic texture scorched in the high temperature of friction; as the body tilted, it surprisingly regained balance in this simple touch.

"Huh?"

John couldn’t help but recall Kenichi Sora’s action — recovering balance in midair under suspended conditions, the dizzying view corrected in a second when Sora took over.

"How did you do that?"

Sora didn’t answer but began showing off.

It flipped, pressing its legs downwards, lightly tapping the ground, each landing shortening the distance.

Not only eliminated inertia but also slipped into cover with the montum.

John fell silent.

He always felt his prosthetic body was entirely different in Sora’s hands.
