John nodded.

He suddenly thought about the [Black Spider] and [Captain] he left at the landfill.

If he died, would anyone discover those deliberately collected [windfall] accounts?

Would anyone figure out the usage of the [Special Inhibitor]?

The weapons and ammunition stored in the Dan Street Apartnt—would they count as another "warehouse" to the Black Gold Gang, whose rent is expiring?

This city really leaves residue during its digestion process.

"Just a bit of luck is all it takes."

Oulos raised his straw, squinting with one eye.

"But so treasures can be ’manufactured’ by human hands."

Such as when a gang’s weapon stash is exposed.

The sources of information are many; it could be internal betrayal, perhaps a ssage from within the ECPD, or even an inadvertent clue received by a middleman...

They would select a group of "professionals" to control the scene in advance, determine the scale of the auction, then send ssages to the buyers holding "tickets"; once everyone arrived, they’d blow open the weapon stash.

On-site auction!

Money exchanged for goods on the spot.

The organizers would arrange for people to fend off the enraged gang mbers, and also allocate forces to protect the paying custors.

Afterward, they would all disperse quickly.

Anything not sold in ti at the scene would simply be looted by whoever could manage, with the understanding that whatever one could grab would belong to them; before the cops ca to clear the scene, the big clients would have already slipped away, leaving the poor and greedy to bear the risk of being shot by the gang or chased by the police.

John looked at Oulos.

"Sounds pretty exciting. Have you played before?"

"I’m the organizer."

Oulos looked up and smiled, with a very modest deanor.

"I’ve blown up a multinational corporation’s storage room, dug up data legacies in cyberspace, and even held the head of a legendary rcenary, forcing the remnants of their consciousness; I’ve thoroughly ransacked a private armory..."

"Impressive."

John nodded, noticing a detail.

"You seem in a good mood. Found news about what you’re looking for?"

"Sort of."

Oulos seed to have eyes on his back and turned back just as they were about to reach the steps.

The heat and noise hit them in the face.

John and Oulos returned to the surface.

The custors from earlier were also gathering across.

They all had paid and couldn’t wait to unlock the treasure.

Palr was full of red-brick buildings, with factory buildings lined up clearly, and the warehouses hidden in the shadows, just enough to escape the heat; there were quite a few people coming to join the fun.

Old Chris’s treasure unlocking had already beco a staple in Palr.

John also noticed those corporate dogs.

They ca up by the internal elevator, following a clear route and not avoiding people at all; compared to the auction scene, there were even more security personnel following behind them now, along with guides familiar with the Palr situation and professional personnel responsible for recording the events.

"Such a big display, they’re really not afraid of dying."

John muttered softly.

Oulos, as if truly uninterested in those corporate dogs, responded not at all.

She occasionally stood on tiptoe, looking expectant.

Soone from that group of corporate dogs noticed John, unabashedly followed over, and just stood in front of warehouse number [#211], seemingly wanting to witness its final outco.

John, unwilling to tempt fate, added so money to get the caraman to open the door.

Paid services really are thorough.

They scanned with thermal imaging and wore heavy armor before hooking a wire to hack the electronic lock.

Clatter—

The tal roll-up door was lifted.

"OH—"

The crowd erupted in cheers.

They saw over a dozen boxes stacked on a pallet, complete with securing straps and rain covers. Most importantly, the clear logo of Raqi Group ca into view!

Goods from the Eastern people!

It might even be brand-new prosthetic bodies trafficked by the company.

John sighed in relief, but when he turned back, he found that the backstage financier, Oulos, had already lost interest.

She was wandering off towards the next warehouse.

"Hahaha!"

A new commotion erupted in front of the warehouse door.

The previous cheers turned into a bout of uncontrollable laughter.

The workers tasked with dismantling the warehouse ripped off the outer packaging, only to find that all those neatly stacked boxes were filled with high-end toilets.

[Item: Smart Toilet]

[Manufacturer: Raqi Industry]

[Description: The latest product of the SUISIN series, featuring three-dinsional vibrational soundwave washing, bio-glazed surfaces, zero-touch interaction, customized for a high-quality lifestyle.]

"Fuck!"

John imdiately realized the mishap.

He turned around to look for Oulos, but she was nowhere in sight.

Old Chris’s blind auction legend would gain a new story.

A rising star from the West District, spending a hundred thousand bucks in Palr, gathered in full view of the public, ended up with a pile of high-end toilets!
