John’s Sianweistan roared to life.
The frozen world wasn’t as breathtaking.
He focused intently, controlling the motorcycle, wisps of white smoke drifting from the collar and hem of his work jacket.
Alloy RCH had already crossed the overpass.
The distant neon lights were just a halo now.
A pale blue bullet whizzed past him.
The wheels of the Alloy RCH didn’t cross the barrier, instead collided with the cent structure’s exterior, leaving a black scrape mark about five or six ters off the ground.
Swoosh—
Only after this "transition" did it begin to plumt towards the lower road.
Bang!
The motorcycle’s suspension took the full brunt!
It landed with a thunderous crash, sending sparks flying.
Not even Eisenberg’s engineers would imagine such a limit-testing scenario in their labs.
Oulos shut her eyes tightly, clinging onto John.
Her whole body was in pain, likely several fractures, and more severe injuries, all masked by adrenaline.
The imagined crash didn’t happen.
The motorcycle gradually stabilized, slowly picking up speed.
Oulos panted for a long ti, choking several tis, before she could recover from the excruciating pain.
She opened her eyes to survey her surroundings.
Alloy RCH had dived into a tunnel, no out-of-control vehicles around, no pursuers behind, and overhead the municipal signs flashed by constantly...
The engine roared in the glow of the yellow wall lights!
Oulos tried to ease her bursting eardrums, feeling disoriented, struggling to believe—she had just flown directly off the overpass!
[Damn it! You jumped!?]
"Yes, the Eastern people left us no choice, but the good news is we’re still alive!"
[Not the brightest idea.]
Both John and Oulos were in dreadful condition.
The Raqi Group’s pursuit seed to have ended.
This tunnel was already within the West District, where Jingke Heavy Industry and the Black Gold Gang had the upper hand.
They wouldn’t allow the Eastern people to run amok!
Police hovercars cut through the city skyline, red and blue lights flickering amidst the explosive smoke, making Eden City’s ordinary citizens anxious tonight.
Everyone thought the gang truce had ended.
In a sense, it had.
The Raqi Group’s managent had changed, and tonight it was apparent the new leader was extrely aggressive!
The Eastern people made their stance clear.
The war tactics would be violent.
John returned to familiar Dan Street, nightfall deepening, and the hedonistic nightlife just reaching its peak.
Black Gold Gang’s vehicles road the streets.
The city’s air echoed with distant, lingering sirens.
Spotlights from the Bolago Club reached the sky’s edge, countless advertisents flashing, with holograms everywhere near the comrcial hubs.
Bone Shards made the West District more prosperous.
Alloy RCH plunged into the underground garage, the screeching sound of wheels on the epoxy floor piercing the air.
The private parking area’s sliding door slowly closed.
"Phew..."
In the private garage, John let out a sigh of relief, the blue light strips blurring in his eyes.
Black Light’s side effects were nearing their limit.
"...How long are you going to hold onto ?"
He asked.
Bzzzz—
Oulos turned off the intercom.
"I can’t move, darling, sigh, every ti I use the code in my heart, it locks my prosthetic body for a long ti."
"Alright."
John carried Oulos over his shoulder, hooking her knees, ignoring the high-end perfu wafting past his nose.
[Eden City-Dan Street Apartnt]
The elevator led directly from the underground garage to the room.
"Can you be a bit gentler? Has any girl ever told you, your bedside manner must be terrible."
Oulos was tossed onto the sofa.
She couldn’t move, maintaining her falling posture, her torn gown draped over the cushions.
Her hip-to-leg curve was quite perfect.
The snow-white synthetic leather was clearly top-notch.
But John had no other thoughts.
He mustered the strength to reach the workroom, leaving a clear bloody handprint on the wall, taking out the Special Inhibitor from his chest only after completely avoiding Oulos’s sight.
Since Divine Concealnt could control the caras, possibilities of surveillance retrieval, including by cyber monitoring forces, were likely.
Every outdoor location in Eden City wasn’t safe.
John didn’t know the specifics of Black Light.
But that didn’t an no one else in the world did.
If those inford, or organizations, used the [Special Inhibitor] to pinpoint John and Black Light, it would put him in jeopardy.
Thus, John was always cautious when taking the Inhibitor.
Chnk, shhh—
The chip slid into the slot.
John tilted his neck back, veins bulging on his body, what seed like dense streams of data flashed past his pupils.
"Phew—"
The familiar comfort washed through his body.
John, sensing a change, suddenly opened his eyes to turn, only to find a barrel pressing against his temple.
"Mmhmm?"
Oulos appeared in the doorway.
Her slender index and middle fingers were together, mimicking a gun, steadily aid at John’s temple.
John glanced sideways, eting her gaze.
"...Are you joking with ?"
"We need to talk, darling."
Oulos lowered her fingers, picking up the scorched Special Inhibitor, examining it under the light.
She turned back, scrutinizing John, and after a mont of silence, let out a light-hearted laugh.
"You look much better, co to the sofa, we have alone ti before the dical service arrives."
Oulos turned back into the living room.
Calmly she approached the wine cabinet, her fingers brushing across the dust-laden bar — a gift from John’s move, a perk from the Bolago Club mbership.
"dical service?"
"Don’t we look like we need it?"
Oulos opened a bottle of red wine, deftly took out a decanter and long-stemd glasses.
