"...Yeom," I say her na with exhaustion because at this very mont I am extrely tired. We have been walking for hours through the mountains just to finally reach the end of this path and stop in a forest.
"Do you need anything, Shizune?" Yeom asks, pausing for a mont. She doesn’t show the slightest bit of fatigue, even after hours of climbing a steep mountain with relatively thin air.
"I need to rest, Yeom. My legs hurt," I say. How can soone who just strolls around the sect keep up with her pace? It’s simply impossible. I’m killing myself trying to keep up with her.
Aside from the 3 tis I stumbled and fell face-first into the ground, which was not at all pleasant, and she even laughed at and said I was being a slacker, totally oblivious to the fact that I’m a normal person. If she didn’t keep stealing my cultivation, I might be able to keep up with this walking pace.
"Rest? But we’ve only been walking for 8 hours," Yeom says with disbelief, as if my request were sothing extrely absurd and nonsensical, just because she isn’t the least bit tired.
While I’m tired, sweaty, and dirty with dust from falling to the ground, I sincerely want a bath, and a long and prolonged one at that.
"..." She thinks I’m made of iron? 8 hours of continuous walking without a break is a very long ti for a regular person. I’m not a cultivator who can withstand being in a bad environnt like a mountain for that long.
’Damn this Murim world! Why do they insist on building things on mountains?’ This is truly an inconvenience. Why can’t they just build in normal locations?
"We won’t stop now," Yeom denies, continuing to walk. I take a pill from the storage ring compartnt to eat. I was already tired well before, but these pills are doing the job and helping .
"Shizune, don’t eat any more of those!" Yui stops , appearing in front of and trying to hold the pill with her little hands, but without touching anything since she can’t interact with the world.
"Shizune, you’ve already eaten 3 of them! If you eat one more, you’ll get sick. Don’t forget that in this world, the body has its limits, and trying to exceed them hurts," Yui scolds .
"But I’m tired, and Yeom walks too fast," I murmur to her. I feel that if I continue, I’ll faint. I practically ran a marathon and it was already incredible to just descend this mountain by walking.
"Shizune, who are you talking to?" Yeom asks, because from her perspective, I’m talking to nothing, since she can’t see or hear Yui. I decide to use this as an excuse to stop walking.
"Yeom, I’m so tired that I think I’m hallucinating. Please, can we take a break? I’m hungry, I’m tired, my legs hurt! And worst of all, there are these pests called mosquitoes that keep biting !" I speak with dissatisfaction.
"...Okay, we can rest here then," Yeom says, and with a wave of her hand, the trees collapse, and a crater opens up, as if a teor had been launched.
"!!!" She’s stronger than I thought. She uses a technique, and the hole fills with crystal-clear water, and thus she quickly created a large lake on the mountain, demonstrating her ability and power.
She just changed the scenery as if it was nothing. It’s truly frightening, the level of strength that so can achieve, while I am weak.
"We’ll rest for 20 minutes, and then we’ll continue on our way! If we don’t, we’ll never reach the bottom of the mountain," she says, almost as if she’s throwing a tantrum.
"Yeom, just descending the mountain isn’t that simple! The mountain is huge, and besides, once we finish descending the mountain, it will be easier to continue afterward." It’s a fact that the mountain’s own terrain was slowing down a lot and was extra tiring.
"And it’s night! It must be almost midnight. I need to sleep too, Yeom. You know I can’t endure as much as you cultivators can. I’m practically a common person. Can we just sleep here tonight?" I’m dying to sleep.
"...Okay, you’re right...I should have helped you more, but I was busy thinking about sothing. Here, try this," she takes sothing out of her storage ring and hands it to .
"I was making this the whole ti. I needed focus and ended up ignoring your needs. I’m sorry about that," Yeom apologizes as I take the bottle with a black liquid.
Without much thought, I take a sip and imdiately spit it out due to the terrible taste. It’s like rotten food, fungi, and so kind of trash that has been fernting for years and has beco so putrid that it’s difficult to explain.
"..." My disgusted expression puts a mischievous smile on Yeom’s face, who is finding amusent in this anything but amusing situation.
"It’s okay, Shizune. It’s natural that you don’t like it, but if it had worked, you wouldn’t have to drink it...it seems it failed. In a few hours, you’ll try to drink another one," she says while starting to gather wood and make a campfire.
"Shizune, while I set up a place for you to sleep, could you go look for so food? There should be so wild boars in the vicinity," Yeom gives the task, clearly finding it boring.
"Haa...okay, Yeom," This is our normal relationship. It seems that just because I’m cursed, that’s not going to change, but it’s not that bad. I head into the forest, leaving Yeom there.
The first thing I take out of my storage ring are papers with barriers and attack papers to hunt the boars. I stick the barrier paper on my body, and now I have a very strong "armor" protecting .
"Shizune, you’ll be okay, right?" Yui asks, worried since I’m going out alone to hunt the boars, but it turns out I’m quite calm about it. Yeom’s powered papers are very powerful and can withstand a lot.
"I’ll be fine. Yeom’s barriers are on the papers. Unless my enemy is a strong cultivator, I won’t have any problems," I’m not too worried about it. Yeom is crazy, but very well-balanced when it cos to power.
She won’t try to kill out of the blue or anything like that, and since we’re alone for now, there’s no threat of jealousy or envy, so in an ergency, I can just draw Yeom’s attention to help .
"..."
’A tracking paper would be better...’ I didn’t bring any of those, and I didn’t bring any detection ones either, since my focus was on defending or attacking, so I just wander tiredly around the area near the lake Yeom created.
Since I’m tired and sleepy, my steps are faltering and slow to the point where Yui even questioned if it wouldn’t be better to go back and rest a bit, but I didn’t give an answer and just kept going.
"Yui, do you know where there are wild boars?" It’s easier to ask Yui where I can find a boar. She must know, and it’s already late for to just wander around they’re probably sleeping at the mont.
"There’s one 100 ters to the right," Yui quickly responds, surprising . I thought she would refuse or sothing, since she doesn’t like evil or murder, and I’m going to kill the boar to eat.
"Yui, do you have no problem with killing the boar?" She doesn’t like doing bad things, so I thought she would refuse imdiately, and I would have to try to convince her with so excuse like I’m in danger in the forest at night.
"Shizune, it’s just the cycle of life...animals kill others to eat. It’s natural, not sothing bad, just sothing normal," Yui explains it like a lesson on the natural cycle, while I just ignore it and go to the boar.
’Finally, I’ll be able to rest...’ I take slow and calm steps to reach it without waking it up, since it could just run away or even try to fight. The most problematic thing would be if it ran away and I had to hunt another one.
After walking a bit, being very careful with my steps while Yui talks, I reach the boar lying peacefully. It seems to be sleeping, so I just use a paper of instant death, and that’s it.
I stick the paper on the boar’s fur, and as soon as it activates, the boar’s heart stops, and it dies without suffering at all, a peaceful and rciful death.
"..." I look at the dead boar, without any injuries or damage. It should be enough for Yeom, so I store it in the storage ring and go to Yeom, avoiding complaining about the fatigue I’m feeling.
"Yeom, how about this boar?" I ask as I approach the lake Yeom made. I soon see that she has made a campfire and improvised sleeping areas, with a very strong barrier formation for safety.
"That’s good. Leave it there and you can lie down and rest a bit. I’ll dismber it and roast it on the fire for us to eat," When she says that, I just take one of those things I stored to eat. It’s not delicious, but it’s enough to satisfy the hunger, since the food will take a while.
I quickly eat it, as they are like food/nutrient pills, which gives a montary satiety that is enough for to walk to the improvised bed and straw tent.
She did a great job, and I just want to rest soon.
