Night falls, the moon is clear and stars are scattered.

Xia Jinyun tosses and turns in bed, unable to sleep.

She shyly bites her lip, the corners of her mouth uncontrollably curving upwards as she giggles and says to Fu Ying, "Your brother just called by my na, he rembers my na."

Fu Ying nods: "My brother has a good mory; if you tell him your na, he will rember it."

Xia Jinyun, facing her, senses there’s more to Fu Ying’s words.

"I never had the chance to speak to him, and also because I lacked the courage."

Fu Ying looks at her, murmuring softly, "If I were as old as you, I would have the courage."

"Huh?"

Fu Ying shakes her head and pulls up the blanket, "It’s nothing, let’s sleep. I have an exam tomorrow, good night."

"Good night."

Xia Jinyun feels very happy, her lips still curled up as she closes her eyes.

She has a beautiful dream at night.

...

Since she had familiarized herself in advance, Fu Ying easily finds her examination hall and seat.

Li Hanyi and Du Yong are in the sa examination hall with her.

When she arrives, Li Hanyi and Du Yong are already there, bragging with so other underachievers from different classes.

Fu Ying sits down in her place, and soon the invigilator enters.

Coincidentally, the invigilator is their class teacher, Tan Ruonian.

As soon as he steps in, his sharp gaze sweeps over the few underachievers, causing them to be montarily startled.

Li Hanyi mutters, "Why is it him?"

Tan Ruonian frowns, "Check inside your desks for any books, if there are any, bring them to the podium."

Fu Ying looks down to check her desk. It’s empty except for a love letter.

She doesn’t think too much about it and prepares to tuck the love letter further inside.

But then, she sees her own na on the love letter.

A jolt runs through Fu Ying’s heart, filled with suspicion, just as Tan Ruonian cos over with the examination papers.

She quickly crumples the love letter into a ball and stuffs it into her pocket.

Tan Ruonian, with a stern face, hands her the examination paper, clearly not harboring much hope for her performance.

Honestly, Fu Ying herself isn’t confident either.

She approaches this exam with a mindset to do as much as she can.

Having received the examination paper, Fu Ying begins marking the answer sheet, filling in everything she knows without leaving anything blank.

A gentle breeze whispers by her ear, soothingly soft.

Fu Ying writes furiously, answering swiftly.

Under the blazing sun, her secret crush is doing rescue operations at a remote reservoir.

Two days ago, the weather was hot, and a few middle school students skipped classes. Ignoring the warning sign by the reservoir that read "Dangerous Deep Water," they jumped in to bathe.

It was a fisherman who heard their cries for help and imdiately threw a log into the water for the two boys to grasp onto. This using the log’s buoyancy, the two were temporarily out of life-threatening danger.

But the kids had taken in water, panic-stricken and unable to swim to the shore, clinging to the log and crying.

Several fishern, none of whom could swim, didn’t dare to enter the water to rescue.

They could only shout from the shore, instructing them to hold onto the plank tightly, reassuring that help was on the way.

anwhile, trying to calm the children’s emotions.

When Shen Liguang arrives at the scene, the two boys had already been in the water for a while, and due to fear, one of them was not in a good ntal state.

This was dangerous; if the boy’s emotions collapsed, he might let go of the log and drown. Drowning victims instinctively grab at anything.

This would put the other child at risk too.

Shen Liguang decides to go into the water for the rescue.

Three firefighters enter the water, carrying two life rings for safety.

The boy, around thirteen or fourteen, has very poor psychological quality.

As soon as they approached, the two children reached out desperately like they were grabbing onto a lifeline.

Both children experienced cramping.

After more than ten minutes of rescue in the water, the two boys were successfully pulled ashore, and everyone on the bank breathed a sigh of relief.

The other children who ca with the two boys looked pale and frightened.

Shen Liguang prepared to contact their parents. After asking for a long ti, the two boys, still in shock, cried and trembled, unable to speak clearly.

"Does anyone know their parents’ phone numbers?" Shen Liguang had to ask the other boys.

One of the boys handed over a drowning child’s cell phone to Shen Liguang, his voice trembling: "The two of them went down on their own, uncle, their drowning has nothing to do with us."

Shen Liguang looked through the contacts, hearing the boy’s trembling voice, and glanced at the boy.

Then, he pointed to a nearby warning sign and said sternly, "Can you read? What do those four characters say?"

The boy replied softly, "Deep water is dangerous."

"So you can read. That’s a warning sign, you know?"

The boy was scolded to the point of being unable to say a word.

Shen Liguang frowned, found the phone number, and called.

Upon hearing that their children had almost lost their lives, the parents of the two boys rushed over anxiously.

Seeing their parents, the boys ran into their arms and cried breathlessly.

"Thank you, thank you for saving our children."

"Don’t thank us, take them ho and teach them properly about the dangers and where not to go."

"Every sumr, many children drown. That warning sign is not for decoration, but for warning."

The parents of the two children nodded repeatedly, "Thank you, thank you, we understand, we will teach them well at ho."

Shen Liguang led his team back and coincidentally, t a girl coming out of school.

Fu Ying had just finished an exam and was planning to go to the night market with Lin Lishan when she saw the man.

He was sitting in the car passing by, and without intending to, glanced towards the platform where that small figure stood.

Lin Lishan also saw Shen Liguang and rembered he was the firefighter who had conducted their fire drill a while ago.

"It’s that handso firefighter brother."

Fu Ying didn’t dare look again, imdiately looked away, and nodded slightly, "Yeah, seems like it."

Lin Lishan said, "I think he lives in the sa community as ; I’ve seen him several tis there."

Fu Ying’s heart skipped a beat, suddenly finding another reason to get close to him.

"Fu Ying, our bus is here."

The two girls boarded the bus and sat together, whispering.

"Do you have soone you like?"

Lin Lishan suddenly asked, making Fu Ying’s heart flutter.

She shook her head, not even convincing herself.

"No."

Lin Lishan asked again, "What about a secret crush?"

"..." Fu Ying was a bit flustered, "No."

Lin Lishan didn’t notice anything unusual, and continued on her own, "My mom said that during adolescence, there must be soone you like, or soone you have a crush on, otherwise, the youth is incomplete."

"Your mom is so open-minded; she doesn’t mind you dating early?"

Lin Lishan nodded, laughing and crying, "My mom is very cheerful, a real joker. She even asked if there’s soone I like at school."

"Then your mom is really open-minded."

Lin Lishan nodded, "My mom is a novelist; she always imagines everything from school uniforms to wedding gowns, striving together for a bright, motivated future. That’s why she is so open-minded; she finds inspiration for her writing through ."

Fu Ying couldn’t help but laugh, "Your mom is really adorable."

"And your mom?"

Fu Ying: "My, my mom passed away."

Lin Lishan was taken aback, "I’m sorry, Fu Ying."

Fu Ying smiled and shook her head, "It’s okay."
