When both families learned that Fu Ying was pregnant, they were overjoyed and got together for a al, setting the wedding date for two weeks later.

At that ti, Fu Ying was just over two weeks pregnant. She went to school as usual, showing no typical pregnancy symptoms.

Lin Lishan often asked her, "Do you feel nauseous or like vomiting?"

Fu Ying shook her head.

"How about feeling sleepy?"

Fu Ying shook her head again.

Lin Lishan said, "You don’t seem to be as sleepy or nauseous as they show on TV."

That night, right after finding out about the pregnancy, he had already looked up various symptoms of pregnant won online.

The online personal accounts from mothers were scarier than the next, talking about dizziness, nausea, vomiting, not being able to eat or sleep well during pregnancy, and that was just half of it. Giving birth was like walking through the gates of hell.

The pain was unbearable, making them swear never to have children again.

That night, Fu Ying slept soundly as if nothing happened, while he stayed awake, gently embracing her, his hand resting on her still-flat belly, feeling as if he could sense sothing there, cherishing it imnsely.

"Yingying, giving birth is very painful."

Fu Ying, utterly exhausted and inexperienced, didn’t know how painful it would be. She turned over and murmured a vague "Hmm."

"Yingying." The man pulled her into his arms, gazing down at her, his fingers gently caressing her fair cheek, his voice laden with a sigh, "While you’re pregnant, I might not have much ti to spend with you. I might end up being an incompetent husband and a disqualified father."

At night, in her half-asleep state, Fu Ying heard his husky voice calling "Yingying" countless tis.

The man’s voice was gentle and low, softly filled with guilt.

There were no classes on the weekend, so Fu Ying went back to her mother’s ho.

At that ti, the little Shenghui was over two years old and could walk. He eagerly ran over and wrapped his small arms around Fu Ying’s legs.

This child, who cried whenever she held him as a baby, was now very affectionate towards her.

"Shenghui, auntie brought you so candy. Eat it secretly, don’t let mom find out, okay?"

With the candy in his hands and a beaming smile, little Shenghui replied, "Okay, thank you, little auntie."

"Quick, hide it."

Shenghui saw Xia Jinyun coming out of the house and hurriedly stashed the candy into his clothing pocket, his timid deanor amusing.

"Why did you co alone?"

"He finally had a day off, and then he couldn’t sleep at all last night."

Xia Jinyun paused, misunderstanding her aning, feeling a bit awkward, but still reminded her, "It’s best not to have intercourse during the first three months of pregnancy."

Fu Ying blushed, "No, no, it’s just that he couldn’t sleep last night."

Xia Jinyun laughed awkwardly, "Oh, well, co inside quickly, Aunt Wen made your favorite dish early, waiting for you."

"What about my little brother? I haven’t seen him in a long ti."

"He went out with dad."

Fu Ying nodded and smiled. Her little brother had changed so much, from a carefree street thug to now wearing a suit and appearing quite respectable.

Ti changes everything, that immature boy had finally beco a man.

In the evening, she went back ho just as her little brother had returned, and he drove her back.

Fu Ying was already prone to motion sickness, and her sense of sll had beco much sharper during her pregnancy. She felt nauseous at the slightest scent.

She rolled down the car window, letting in fresh air, which made her feel a lot better.

Fu Yan saw her head sticking out of the window and frowned, "I’ve told you before, don’t stick your head out."

His brother’s voice was a bit harsh, sothing he had said in the past but she hadn’t noticed. Now, she realized, there was concern in his reprimand.

With her eyes moist, Fu Ying didn’t argue but softly complied, "I know, brother."

Fu Yan smiled, his lips curving up, "Getting married and becoming obedient now."

"Because I’ve grown up."

"I don’t think so."

Fu Ying frowned and raised her hand to hit him.

Fu Yan stopped laughing: "Stop ssing around, I’m driving."

Fu Ying pursed her lips, pulled her hand back, and looked outside: "Little brother, if you were serious like this earlier, perhaps Sister Jin Can would have a better impression of you."

Speaking of Jin Can, Fu Yan’s expression darkened: "Why bring her up all of a sudden?"

ntioning Jin Can made Fu Yan’s tone sound wrong.

His fingers tightly gripping the steering wheel, he suddenly punched it, the car horn blaring harshly, and her little brother leaned forward yelling, "Are you blind? Can’t you see the green light?!"

Fu Ying was startled, her body froze, she silently tightened her seatbelt, and didn’t ntion Jin Can again.

...

When Fu Ying got ho, he had already prepared dinner.

"Why didn’t you wake up this morning?"

"I wanted you to sleep a bit longer."

The man supported her body, placing it on the cabinet by the door, his eyes deep.

That look, Fu Ying was all too familiar with, her heart trembling, she covered her stomach, warning him, "Behave yourself, Jinyun said no."

"Where’s your mind going? Huh?" He chuckled, bracing his hands on the cabinet, encircling her in his arms, his shoulders shaking with laughter, "Tell brother, where was your mind going?"

Fu Ying blushed: "No...I’m just hungry, brother."

Shen Liguang softened his heart and lifted her down.

Currently, she had no pregnancy symptoms and wasn’t eating much.

She ate as little as a cat.

At night, they nestled on the couch watching a movie.

Fu Ying dozed off in his arms, Shen Liguang watched absentmindedly, lightly playing with her fingers, softly speaking.

"The first ti, when I rescued you from the fire, you were dressed in ancient clothing, very unique. Later, at your school’s New Year’s Eve party, you were holding a lute, a light veil covering your face, I thought then, you seed not to belong to this world."

"You’re not at all like your elder brother described, stubborn, disobedient; on the contrary, you’re quite serene."

"Sotis I think, in ancient tis, you must have been a gentle young lady from a wealthy family, kept in seclusion, with little contact with the outside world."

Fu Ying blinked, saying nothing.

"Your personality is quite good, well-behaved, obedient, sensible, not erratic, not whimsical, not petulant. I really can’t find any faults in you."

Fu Ying hadn’t expected she seed so perfect in his eyes.

She still feared, feared she had so bad habits he wouldn’t like.

Fu Ying took a deep breath, snuggled into his embrace: "Brother is good too."

"Brother is not good, but brother is only good to you."

Fu Ying quietly clutched his clothes, listening to him speak.

"Now that previous year I left was actually to give myself ti to cool down. How could I have feelings for a girl nine years younger? It’s damn beastly."

"But then, that little girl would send a love letter every once in a while, feelings so intense I could hardly breathe."

Fu Ying’s eyes widened, not daring to blink for fear of shedding tears.

The man suddenly very frustrated, he leaned in and kissed her, then by her ear restrained himself: "At that ti, I damn wanted to just go back and be a beast once."

His voice tender: "Thank you for never giving up, at my age, without you taking the first step, I wouldn’t dare to make a move."

"Know this, I am more rational than impulsive, and with age, quite self-conscious. If you hadn’t confessed when you were eighteen, I would have chosen to miss out."

I would have chosen to miss out.

Fu Ying’s eyes moistened, she snuggled more into his embrace, not a word of comfort said, just softly, shyly called him "husband," lting the man’s heart.
