Shen Liguang watched as she slowly bowed her head, her voice feeble and hesitantly fidgeting with her fingers while slightly curving the corners of her lips.
She was, after all, turning towards him.
"You go on in, I want to have a word with Liguang."
"Oh." Fu Ying glanced at Shen Liguang, then lowered her eyes to close the door.
She had no idea what they were discussing outside, guessing that Fu Mingchuan must be giving Shen Liguang a hard ti.
She quietly sat back on the bed and started packing her things.
The living room quieted down, and Fu Mingchuan was the first to speak.
"The child is still young; please be patient with her in the future."
Shen Liguang nodded, "I will. I think she’s great. I quite like it when she acts a bit spoiled. She rarely throws tantrums though. When I’m at the fire station, she hardly ever calls , afraid she’ll disturb; instead, it’s —"
Shen Liguang paused, smiling deeply.
"Yingying, she used to have quite a few faults, but now..." Fu Mingchuan thought for a mont, "there really aren’t any serious ones left. Although she’s not exactly super well-behaved, if you look for flaws, you’ll find minor ones, but no major ones."
Shen Liguang nodded, "I know, she is a very good girl."
"Go ahead and get the certificate as soon as possible."
Shen Liguang appeared surprised, raising his head to look at Fu Mingchuan.
Fu Mingchuan smiled helplessly, "I guess, Yingying thinks the sa."
Shen Liguang smiled and lowered his eyes, "She wants to marry as soon as she turns twenty."
"Indeed, when a daughter grows up, she doesn’t belong to her mother anymore." Fu Mingchuan sighed, thinking back to the days when he played both father and mother, raised her all by himself, only to find no hesitation when she threw herself into soone else’s arms.
Fu Mingchuan stood up to leave.
"Uncle Fu, join us for dinner."
Fu Mingchuan waved his hand, "No need," I just ate, have to go back and talk to your mother, figure out when our two families can et."
Shen Liguang nodded, "Okay, then I’ll see you out, Uncle Fu."
"I drove here, no need to see out, I’m leaving."
After escorting Fu Mingchuan to the door, Shen Liguang entered the bedroom.
The girl inside was packing clothes, big bundles and small, then sat on the bed in a daze.
"Running away from ho?"
"Be serious." Fu Ying lowered her head, biting her lip, "My dad’s here, he’s bound to drag back ho."
"What’s there to be afraid of?"
"Of course I’m afraid, we’re not married yet."
"Let tell you sothing good."
"What is it?" Fu Ying turned her face, curious about the good news, and her lips were suddenly kissed by the man.
He kissed gently, not with passion, but rather tender and lingering.
"Your dad didn’t ask you to go back."
"Really?"
"He said we should hurry and get registered."
The man didn’t leave her lips for a mont as he spoke.
His fingers tugged at her collar, unbuttoning two buttons, which was rather seductive.
Fu Ying clutched his clothes tightly, felt weak in her body, and slowly found herself sinking onto the bed.
"Brother, big brother..."
During the mont she had, Fu Ying softly called him.
"Hmm."
Fu Ying clung tightly to his shirt, forced to bend her head back and bear his weight.
In a daze, all the buttons on his shirt ca undone, his upper body half-exposed, and her gaze drifted down to his abs.
Fu Ying blushed, gently averting her eyes.
"Big brother, I’m hungry, let’s go out to eat."
Shen Liguang’s eyes were dark, staring at her flushed lips, subconsciously licking his own corners.
"Wait a while."
He leaned in once again, capturing the girl’s lips, and as he reached to peel off her clothing, a soft cough suddenly sounded at the door.
"Cough cough..."
The door to the bedroom was left open, and Fu Mingchuan had not gone downstairs when he realized he left his car keys here.
Upon his return, he found the door ajar and walked right in, only to witness entwined figures.
Fu Ying jolted in shock, imdiately pushing Shen Liguang away, her embarrassnt unbearable, clutching the quilt tightly to shield herself.
Shen Liguang’s shirt was wide open, and with Fu Mingchuan laying eyes on him, it instantly beca awkward.
He lowered his head, making a fist at his mouth and coughed, "Um, Uncle Fu, why did you co back?"
"If you’d locked the door tightly, I wouldn’t have been able to co back either." Fu Mingchuan picked up his car keys, glanced over at them, and barely able to watch, comnted, "Young people these days, getting intimate without even closing the door properly."
Shen Liguang kept his head down, listening to Fu Mingchuan’s lecture.
Fu Ying was mortified, her little face burning red hot.
Fu Mingchuan couldn’t bear to watch them any longer, picked up his keys, and left.
Fu Ying gradually lowered the quilt, her head down, her cheeks flushed from ear to ear.
"Let’s go out to eat."
He dressed, took her hand and they left.
By then, the night market was in full swing, offering all kinds of food, with the breeze carrying enticing aromas.
Fu Ying was indeed hungry, swallowing saliva at the sll of barbecue.
"Want so barbecue?" The man discerned her thoughts.
Fu Ying licked her sore lips and nodded faintly: "Mhm."
The man took her to sit down, then ordered barbecue and opened up a beer, asking if she wanted any.
It was rare for him to drink voluntarily, usually because of work reasons.
Fu Ying pushed the cup in front of her towards him slightly: "One cup is enough, I can’t hold my liquor."
Shen Liguang nudged his cheek and smiled aningfully.
Fu Ying suddenly rembered the ti she drank beer and confessed to him, pursed her lips, and bowed her head slightly.
"You look delicate, yet you can take the spiciness."
The man’s words were filled with care, and Fu Ying silently pulled a wry smile.
The sumr wind was dry and hot, blowing over from the other side of the street, with a scorching heat like a hotbed, his collar unbuttoned at the top, sweat rolling down from his neck.
The girl behaved quite ladylike.
Shen Liguang leaned back in his chair, resting his head on one hand while looking towards her.
She sat properly and demurely, holding a skewer in one hand, biting into it with grace.
Everyone around was sitting, talking loudly, eating at with big bites, only she was different.
A gentleness etched into her bones.
...
The warm breeze of July carried the dry heat of the sumr, blowing into late July when schools began to break up for holidays one after another.
Lin Lishan, preparing for her postgraduate studies, took the initiative for the first ti to invite her to go shopping.
The money that her younger brother scamd over the years, she didn’t know how much she had recouped, but now she was sowhat wealthy.
Passing by a bridal shop, Lin Lishan paused.
"When I was younger, I genuinely looked forward to wearing such a wedding dress, to marry the person I love."
Fu Ying’s gaze, however, was fixated on a Phoenix Crown and Feather Robe inside the display window.
Lin Lishan noticed her and cast another look: "Do you like this?"
Fu Ying gently nodded: "Yes, I... like this one."
"It is beautiful, wearing it would make you look like an ancient woman getting married."
Fu Ying slightly cast down her eyes, smiling.
"Let’s stop looking, let’s go shop elsewhere." Lin Lishan pulled her into a lingerie store, casually picking up a piece of lingerie with very little fabric for inspection, making Fu Ying blush at the sight.
"You want to buy this?"
Lin Lishan nodded and whispered in her ear, "Isn’t the sumr break coming soon? Sheng Chen is coming back, if I wear this, then..."
Lin Lishan’s mischievous smile made Fu Ying’s ears burn with heat.
