Asking that question was always a bit awkward; after all, when two adults are in a relationship, it’s too abrupt for him to inquire.

Finally, Fu Mingchuan expressed his concerns in a very tactful manner: "A girl should protect herself well."

After all, it’s his own daughter, and even if he turns a blind eye to her not coming ho at night, it doesn’t an he doesn’t know.

And as she’s a girl, he could only express himself in a restrained way.

Back then, he had Fu Yi before graduating from college, followed by a quick registration and a simple wedding. At that ti, he was just a poor young man, and he didn’t buy anything for their mother, who always endured hardships with him.

Later, when his business started to pick up, he hadn’t properly compensated her when she passed away shortly after giving birth to Fu Ying.

Fu Mingchuan sighed deeply.

"Dad." Fu Ying took a mont to react, then realized what Fu Mingchuan ant by "protection."

Fu Ying felt a fuzzy sense of apprehension inside, a bit uneasy.

But since Fu Mingchuan didn’t say anything more, she felt even more embarrassed.

Fu Ying touched her nose and bowed her head: "I know, Dad."

Fu Mingchuan looked at her and nodded. Beneath the lights, Fu Ying saw his many white hairs. He was no longer young.

Many things had happened recently: first, Shen Liguang was retaliated against for failing to save that high school girl, then Nanny Wu resigned and left. Now, suddenly realizing that Fu Mingchuan had aged too.

Fu Ying was soone who easily beca sentintal; she would shed tears watching a tragic movie.

"What’s wrong?"

Fu Ying shook her head: "Nothing, Dad. Um, I’m sleepy."

Fu Mingchuan checked the ti; it was already past ten without them noticing.

Fu Ying paused at the door to her room, waiting until Fu Mingchuan entered his bedroom before she went into her room.

Fu Ying sent Shen Liguang a goodnight ssage and then went to sleep.

The snow outside had stopped, lting as soon as it hit the ground, leaving the earth damp.

Shen Liguang had just arrived at the address given by the caller, who reported a girl planning to jump into the river from Linjiang Second Bridge.

"Whoa, not to say, but this girl is really quite heavy," Qian Zheng said, a bit surprised upon seeing the girl.

The heaviest person he had ever seen was around 180 jin (approximately 90 kg).

The thing was she wasn’t big or tall, only about 160 cm, so being 200 jin (approximately 100 kg) made her very overweight.

Wu Xiaowu comnted, "I think she has quite a delicate and attractive face, though."

Without responding, Shen Liguang walked towards her.

The girl had already climbed over the railing, holding onto it while she looked down.

It was a drop of about fifty ters or so, quite high, and perhaps she felt afraid or was still hesitating. Either way, hesitation was visible on the girl’s round face.

Her hesitation indicated that she didn’t want to die. In such scenarios, it’s often possible to persuade her to co back on her own.

Shen Liguang glanced at Wu Xiaowu, who instantly understood and imdiately began showcasing his humor: "Miss, don’t jump. It’s good to be alive, the outside world is beautiful. What’s troubling you? Look at , I keep on living despite looking rough around the edges."

"It sure is rough," Qian Zheng muttered under his breath.

Shen Liguang frowned and kicked Qian Zheng.

Rubbing his nose, Qian Zheng continued speaking from behind: "Sis, we can lose so weight. You’ll definitely be beautiful once you slim down. Have you ever seen the pretty dresses on the mannequins in the store windows? Let’s live well and buy one like that, slim down and wear it."

The heavy girl rubbed her eyes, crying bitterly, her shoulders trembling: "My husband is going to marry another woman! How can he marry soone else?! I sent him gifts, my photos; he even saw my body, how can he still marry another woman?!"

Wu Xiaowu was stupefied for a mont before realizing that it wasn’t because of her own body weight that she wanted to commit suicide, but rather it was a matter of the heart.

But this fat girl looked underage; where could she have possibly gotten a husband?

Wu Xiaowu asked, "Who’s your husband? What’s his phone number? I’ll contact him and have him co over."

"My husband is Qin Sen. Can you bring him here? Can you contact him for ? I know his private number!" The fat girl ntioned Qin Sen with agitated emotions.

Qin Sen?

The group exchanged glances. During their downti, life in the fire brigade could be pretty dull, and they would follow entertainnt gossip. Qin Sen was a top-tier idol, who had recently announced his marriage.

This girl was probably one of Qin Sen’s obsessive fans, a possible sasaeng fan, who couldn’t accept the idol’s marriage and thus chose to attempt suicide.

Judging by her hesitance to jump, Wu Xiaowu could tell she wasn’t really trying to commit suicide, but rather she wanted to amplify the situation, to let Qin Sen know, threatening him to call off the wedding.

Such incidents of fans coercing their idols with threats of suicide had happened in past years.

Nowadays, it’s hard to fathom the thoughts of young girls.

"Qin Sen is just good-looking, right? There are plenty of handso guys. We even have so in our team."

Wu Xiaowu patted Qian Zheng on the shoulder: "Look at this brother, he might not be as fair-skinned as Qin Sen, but his dark skin is healthy, and he’s got a six-pack."

"Not good-looking at all, my husband is the most handso."

"Look at our team captain. He’s a bit rough now, but when he first joined the team, he was simply irresistible. Not to ntion, he could make a living off his looks alone."

Shen Liguang was frowning, and suddenly Wu Xiaowu took off his helt: "See, our team’s face of valor."

Shen Liguang grimaced and took his helt back, putting it on again.

Seizing the girl’s infatuation with handso looks or her "worship of beauty," Qian Zheng and Wu Xiaowu persuaded her through various argunts, sacrificing the attractiveness of the young n in their team, and finally managed to convince her.

But the railing at the bridge was nearly as tall as the girl, and after climbing over it in an emotionally charged state, now that she had cald down and saw the pitch-black abyss behind her, she gripped the railing tightly with both hands, standing at the edge, her legs weakened from fear.

Wu Xiaowu and Qian Zheng had no choice but to climb over to control the girl’s body, fearing she would panic and slip.

However, figuring out how to get her back over was proving difficult.

The fat girl weighed about 200 pounds, and she was too scared to exert any strength, so Wu Xiaowu and Qian Zheng had to support her.

In the end, they had to consider breaking the railing. Shen Liguang was preparing to cut it when suddenly the fat girl scread.

He looked up to see the girl grabbing onto Qian Zheng and Wu Xiaowu, and all three of them fell down together.

Down below the bridge, water splashed in all directions. The river water in December was bone-chillingly cold, and the fat girl struggled desperately in the water. Her body weight was nearly the equivalent of two people, and as she clung to Qian Zheng and Wu Xiaowu, they were all dragged downward.

In a mont of urgency, Qian Zheng broke free from the girl’s grasp, moved behind her, hooked his arms around her neck, and started to pull her toward the shore.

The fat girl was on her back in the water, gagging, flailing her arms and legs. Because of her weight, she was not physically strong and gradually lost her strength.

Wu Xiaowu resurfaced from the water as if escaping from the jaws of death and shouted, "My leg is cramping."

The people nearby held military coats, and seeing everyone safely ashore, they imdiately wrapped them up.

After much effort, a few people managed to pull the fat girl out of the water, drenching themselves in the process.

Traumatized, the fat girl couldn’t regain her composure. When asked for her parents’ phone number, she remained silent. The bystanders claid not to recognize the girl, so they had no choice but to bring her into the fire station.

Wu Xiaowu and Qian Zheng imdiately took showers, took dicine for colds, and huddled in the dorm.

Fortunately, the station had female staff who helped the girl change into dry clothes, then they asked her, "What’s your parents’ phone number?"

Avoiding the woman, the girl pointed to Shen Liguang, "I’ll talk to this brother."
