She sat on the sofa, straight and proper, demure and gentle.

Li Ruolan liked what she saw.

"Never thought you were the girlfriend Li Guang always chats on the phone with late at night."

Fu Ying, nervous, stuttered in reply, "I, I, I didn’t an to keep it from auntie, it was, it was because I felt embarrassed at the ti..."

"Now you still feel embarrassed?"

Fu Ying felt awkward.

Li Ruolan smiled kindly, "Don’t be nervous and don’t be embarrassed. Auntie has always liked you, a well-behaved and sensible girl with a good disposition. I want to ask you a question, don’t overthink it."

Fu Ying nodded, "Please ask."

"You don’t mind Brother Li Guang’s age? He seems about ten years older than you, right?"

Fu Ying shook her head, "No, I don’t mind, I’ve never minded."

Li Ruolan smiled as she looked at her nervous little face, "Have you liked him for a long ti?"

"I..." Fu Ying hesitated, her eyes searching for Shen Liguang. Seeing him, she finally felt a bit relieved, "Yes, I’ve liked him for a long ti, since high school. But back then I was too young, afraid that he would see as just a kid."

Li Ruolan surprised, "You liked Brother Li Guang since high school? During that ti you stayed with our family?"

Fu Ying shook her head, clutching her skirt tightly with her hands placed on her thighs, "No, not then, it was even earlier, before that."

Fu Ying thought about how long ago it was.

It was a winter vacation when she first arrived here, when she seed to accomplish nothing, yet fell in love with a modern man.

Once she fancied him, it lasted for several years.

In the blink of an eye, another year passed, and she would be twenty soon.

Li Ruolan glanced at Shen Liguang.

Only now she realized sothing; no wonder he once said he felt like committing a cri, as the girl wasn’t even of age back then.

Those insignificant details showed their mutual secret affection.

Li Ruolan looked deeply at her son and then at Fu Ying, filled with happiness, "You two sit for a while; I’ll go check on the soup."

Fu Ying quickly stood up, "Auntie let help you."

Li Ruolan pushed her out of the kitchen, "You’ll have plenty of chances to help as my daughter-in-law in the future; no need today. Stay in the living room and chat with your Brother Li Guang."

"Auntie..."

Fu Ying was about to say sothing when a door blocked her.

She turned around, looked at Shen Liguang, and said in a low and restrained voice, "Is this okay? Auntie, she..."

"Why don’t you go and help, sure you won’t make things worse?" he said teasingly.

"I’m not that clumsy."

Shen Liguang watched her frown in defiance and laughed, raising his hand to ruffle her hair, "You go in, my mom won’t let you help."

"You sit, I’ll go."

The man said, and kissed her lips. Fu Ying looked around in fright, worried that Li Ruolan might see.

Shen Liguang couldn’t help laughing, turned on the TV to find her an animated film, and went to the kitchen.

Li Ruolan frowned, "Silly child, I was giving you two so space."

Shen Liguang laughed, "Not really necessary."

"Then you cook." Li Ruolan took off her apron and handed it to him, then returned to the living room.

Fu Ying grew nervous again as soon as she saw Li Ruolan.

Actually, she knew Li Ruolan was easygoing and very approachable.

"Your Brother Li Guang is going to cook."

Fu Ying smiled slightly, "He, he cooks quite well."

Li Ruolan caught the important point, "You’ve eaten his cooking?"

Fu Ying belatedly realized, her cheeks flushed slightly as she nodded gently: "Mm."

Li Ruolan smiled with deep aning, after all, she had been through it all before.

No wonder her son had been coming ho less frequently lately, it turned out that they had already rented a place together.

She wasn’t entirely in favor of cohabitation before marriage, but when a young couple is in love, everything falls into place naturally.

And indeed, it was clear that they genuinely liked each other.

Li Ruolan didn’t continue on this topic and bent down to pull out an album from the drawer beneath the coffee table.

"Let show you so photos of Brother Li Guang when he was little."

Fu Ying was curious and leaned in to look; the old photo’s colors weren’t as bright, tinged with yellow.

The child in the photo had a brilliant smile, his eyes curving into crescents, his round little face so adorable, even wearing split pants.

Fu Ying couldn’t help but laugh: "So cute."

Li Ruolan nodded: "Yes, he was often mistaken for a girl when he was little; look, here’s a photo of him in a little dress I put on him."

Fu Ying almost laughed without restraint, she couldn’t help but curl up the corners of her lips, looking closely.

He was even wearing a little pink dress, looking so happy.

Li Ruolan sighed: "Actually, at that ti your uncle and I really hoped for a girl, but ended up having two boys."

Fu Ying saw another boy’s photo in the album.

He looked sowhat similar to Shen Liguang, probably his younger brother.

Fu Ying deliberately did not ntion the other child, fearing it might dredge up too many painful mories for Li Ruolan.

Li Ruolan realized this too.

The two had been together for so long, and they both understood each other well; she probably knew about that matter, this girl intentionally not ntioning it, she’s so considerate.

Seeing her carefully looking at the photos, Li Ruolan handed her the album: "Look, there are a lot of your Brother Li Guang’s photos inside."

Fu Ying nodded, carefully turning every page of the album.

From wearing split pants, to being dressed as a girl in kindergarten, then to his elentary school graduation photo, followed by his middle school, he gradually transford from a little rascal into a charming young boy.

During elentary school, he still looked naive, and by middle school, he looked like a teenager, with black short hair and a school uniform, looking quite rogue.

Then she saw the high school graduation photo.

Tall, standing in the last row, with a weary expression, wearing a blue school uniform, everyone was looking at the cara, but he seed indifferent.

Fu Ying also saw his older brother, standing right next to Shen Liguang, the two of them so conspicuous together.

Then, it was the college graduation photo.

At this point, he had been through certain experiences, no longer a boy, but a mature man.

Fu Ying felt regret that she hadn’t been part of his adolescence,

Li Ruolan looked at the girl, seeing the curve on her lips, feelings indescribable in her heart.

Loving soone without saying can still be seen.

When you approach soone due to a hidden crush, it’s always sohow noticeable.

And then you’ll realize, the person you secretly love does not need planned encounters to et, perhaps, he always appears in places you often pass by.

Like after school, the bus stop opposite the school, below the girl’s apartnt building, indeed, he had already responded too much.

Li Ruolan stood up and went into the room.

As Fu Ying raised her eyes, Li Ruolan ca out holding a small box.

Inside was a White Jade Bracelet.

"This, for you."

"No, Auntie, I can’t accept it." Fu Ying quickly waved her hands.

Li Ruolan smiled, took her hand, and put it on her: "It’s a gift for my daughter-in-law."

Fu Ying lowered her head, slightly shy: "Thank you, Auntie."
